  • Patent number: 5170596
Abstract: A gutter assembly that includes a primary gutter and a secondary gutter that are connected to one another and attached to a roof panel. Water is inhibited from flowing between the primary gutter and a panel edge by a flange that overlies the roof panel. The end of the flange has a feather edge so that water atop the panel is directed onto the top of the flange and into the primary gutter. The primary gutter is spaced apart from the edge of the roof panel by a stop member that depends from the flange and that abuts the edge of the panel so that no water can collect between the gutter and the panel edge. This prevents deterioration of the panel. The panel edge also overhangs the secondary gutter to further ensure that no water collects on the panel edge. Drop outlet openings are formed in both gutter parts, and the opening in the secondary gutter is larger than the opening in the primary gutter to prevent water buildup in the primary gutter.

  • Patent number: 5170614
Abstract: A harvester adapted for harvesting low-lying fruit, such as typical with high-density, dwarf trees, includes an intra-loop conveyor for collecting detached fruit relatively close to the ground and elevating same with a single flighted belt. The harvester straddles a single row of the trees and detaches the fruit therefrom by repeatedly impacting the tree canopies are the harvester moves along the row. Spring-loaded deflection plates close around the tree trunks and deflect detached fruit outwardly to interior surfaces of a pair of single-loop conveyors. Baffles cooperating with the interior of each conveyor restrains fruit therein as the conveyor passes overhead to an inverted position. Fruit is discharged from the conveyor elevated segment onto an output conveyor passing beneath the discharge area. The output conveyor includes a multi-segment, foldable conveyor frame over which a single conveyor belt is entrained. The conveyor belt may be folded over the harvester during non-harvesting transport.

  • Patent number: 5170616
Abstract: A textile machine has a bank of spindles each provided with a flyer having a presser finger and a fork having a plurality of elongated teeth thereon for simultaneously removing full bobbins from the spindles and for supplying empty bobbins to the spindles. A safety device is provided for moving the presser fingers out of the paths of the empty bobbins as the empty bobbins are inserted into the flyers, comprising deformable elements extending longitudinally of the teeth of the fork. The presser fingers have members thereon so positioned as to be engaged by the deformable elements and to swing the presser fingers out of the paths of the empty bobbins when the empty bobbins are inserted into the flyers by movement of the fork in one direction.

  • Patent number: 5170617
Abstract: Packages, particularly cross-wound packages are produced directly at a ring spinning frame. In a method and apparatus for making packages a rewinding device is provided for a group of spinning stations. The rewinding device comprises a fixed winding station and a gripping device movable along the group of spinning stations. The rewinding device is able to perform all the manipulations for starting up a spinning process with empty yarn carriers. It is also possible to change the full yarn carriers and mount the empty yarn carriers on a spinning frame, remove thread breaks and carry out spinning following a batch change. Spinning of the individual yarn carriers takes place individually, so that when replacing one yarn carrier, the other spinning stations continue to operate. This leads to a high production rate of the ring spinning frame and simultaneously reduces costs for rewinding compared with known systems.

  • Patent number: 5170619
Abstract: In a spinning method in which, after a bundle of fibers has been drafted, the fibers are introduced into a twisting device using an air jet. The fibers are formed into bound spun yarns by the twisting device and are wound on a package by a winding device. The spinning method includes the steps of arranging and doubling at least two spun yarns upstream from where a twisting torque applied to the spun yarn by the twisting device disappears, entangling the spun yarns by the residual twisting torque, and thereafter winding them on a package.
