Abstract: A new variety of apple tree of unknown parentage, exhibiting a distinctive deep red fruit coloration with prominent buff colored lenticels, a stubby stem, and large, flattened flowers.
Abstract: The `Emperor` is a large, blue, midseason plum with high quality and high productivity. To date, the selection has been tolerant of high summer temperatures in both the tree and the fruit. The plum has substantial potential for widespread domestic use, as well as for the export market.

Abstract: A new and distinct cultivar of African violet named Little Comanche Girl characterized by its mid-size growth habit (13-15 cm in diameter); purplish blue, single violet-shaped flowers; strong stems which curve toward the center to form a compact bouquet above the leaves; profuse flowering; medium green, spear- to heart-shaped, slightly serrated leaves; flowering 10-11 weeks after planting of unrooted shoot, and by its long lasting and non-dropping flowers.
Abstract: A new and distinct variety of orchid, more particularly a Cymbidium hydrid cultivar plant having flowers of large size and clear color with flowers erectly carried and well spaced on strong sprays. The new variety is distinct from siblings of its grex by its outstanding vigorous growth habit as well as frequency and freedom of bloom. Of primary note with this cultivar is its great vigor, compact growth habit and freedom of bloom and season which makes it extremely useful as a producer of Cymbidium flowers for the florist market.
Abstract: The cultivar is characterized by its bright orange-red color. Its compact, controlled growth habit and prolific blooms provide for superb cuttings and performs equally well in a hanging basket as well as in a ground bed. The blooms hold up well in high summer temperatures and produce quickly after rain.
Abstract: This invention relates to a pneumatic control device having an operating mode selecting means for operating in either the manual or automatic modes. Pneumatic pressure is regulated in the manual mode by a hand operated leakport, and in the automatic mode by a voice coil or other pressure regulating device. The pneumatic input supply, manual pressure regulating means and voice coil all communicate at a common surface. The mode selecting means slides across this common surface to connect together the pneumatic input supply with one of the selected pressure regulating means.
Abstract: A double wall tank for the storage of liquids is manufactured from a rigid single wall inner tank by applying to at least a portion of the exterior surface of the inner tank a release agent for preventing bonding of a curable synthetic resin to the inner tank exterior surface, applying over the inner tank exterior surface and the release agent a substantially rigid outer sheath of a curable synthetic resin that, when cured, is substantially fluid tight, and breaking engagement between the inner tank exterior surface and outer sheath.
Abstract: Stitched thread seams between fabric elements of the envelope of a vehicle safety air bag induce localized distension and opening up of the envelope fabrics along the seams, thereby causing the film coatings of the envelope fabric to rupture along the seam and allow gas to escape and maintain a substantially constant overall maximum pressure, regardless of variations in ambient temperature.
Abstract: An electronic adaptive recognizing device which includes an input store having a number of storage locations for receiving an input signal, and a number of addressable stores each having one or more address lines connected to a number of the input store locations in either a random way or one determined by the input signal. The contents of the input store specify addressable store locations at which words of at least one bit are stored. Structure is provided for deriving a common value based on the words stored at the specified addressable store locations and for calculating a corrected value based on a received value and the common value. An updated value is applied, dependent on the corrected value, to each of the specified addressable store locations so that the common value is adapted to changes in the dependence of the received value on the input signal and so that the device can output an appropriate corrected value for a given input signal.

Abstract: In a receiver for a loop interface of a digital data transmission system, a received four-level substantially randomized digital signal is sampled and a multilevel slicer compares the samples selectively with a plurality of thresholds to extract the symbols. A timing recovery circuit determines the sampling instant as a function of a precursor sample and a main pulse sample one baud apart, according to the timing function:f(t)=(1/r)h(t)-h(t-T)where 1/T is the baud rate, h(t) and h(t-T) denote the main pulse sample and precursor sample, respectively, r is the ratio between the main pulse sample and the precursor pulse sample, and t is the sampling instant. The timing recovery circuit includes: a timing estimator responsive to baud rate samples before and after slicing, respectively, for deriving a precursor estimate (z.sub.
Abstract: A propulsor blade for an aircraft engine includes an airfoil section formed in the shape of a scimitar. A metallic blade spar is interposed between opposed surfaces of the blade and is bonded to the surfaces to establish structural integrity of the blade. The metallic blade spar includes a root end allowing attachment of the blade to the engine.

Abstract: A swinging bob toy having bobs which are fastened to, or free to slide along a string. The design of the toy provides that: the string will have a lessened tendency to become tangled during operation, the toy will have a smoothness of motion, and be capable of new tricks and maneuvers, the toy will not become tangled during transportation thereof and will be safer to use. The bobs can be made of an edible material or chewing gum. A tubular storage case can be used to store the bob toy.
Abstract: Differential-gearing devices are disclosed in which the differential pinion gears are controlled to induce a speed difference between output shafts, provide a locking and limited slip differential to equalize the speeds of the output shafts or limit their speed difference, provide a clutch for controlling the coupling and uncoupling of an input shaft to an output shaft, and provide a variable speed transmission. These operational modes are implemented by mounting hydraulic motor or pump units on the rotating carrier of the differential apparatus, the pinion gears being fixed to the shafts of the respective units. A controllable external fluid source independent of the carrier is in fluid communication with the units via conduits through the stationary housing of the differential device and the rotating carrier. Fluid flow may be either blocked, limited or unimpeded between the source and the units to effect the desired control of the pinion gears to, in turn, determine the operational mode of the apparatus.
Abstract: An athletic glove includes a back strap to compress and support the wrist and hand of the user. The glove comprises a central portion including a back side and a palm side which define a hand receiving pocket therebetween. A hand opening is formed in the central portion for inserting the user's hand into the pocket. A wrist cuff area encircles the user's wrist and borders the hand opening. A backhand support wraps around the user's hand to provide support for the backhand muscles. The backhand support includes a backhand strap having an intermediate portion and a free end portion. The backhand strap is secured to the central portion of the glove adjacent the finger stall for the user's index finger and extends diagonally backward across the back side of the glove towards the user's wrist.
