Abstract: A new and distinct variety of peach tree which is somewhat remotely similar to the "Elegant Lady" peach tree (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 4,399), but from which it is distinguished by producing fruit which is mature for harvesting and shipment approximately Jul. 20 to Aug. 2 in the central San Joaquin Valley of California, the fruit being freestone by nature having a round shape and which further exhibits a full red coloration in shades of light red to dark red and a pleasing, very crisp yellow flesh.
Abstract: A new and distinct variety of navel orange tree which is somewhat remotely similar to the "Late Lane Navel" orange tree with which it is most closely related but from which it is distinguished by producing fruit which are mature for harvesting and shipment in early September holding on the tree until the end of April at Kenley, Victoria, Australia and which produces a higher internal flesh and external rind quality and color than comparable varieties.
Abstract: The outstanding characteristics of the cultivar hereof comprise the white bracted display over a period of time typical of most plants of C. florida, an important distinguishing element of this new hybrid comprising the fruit which are bright red and much larger than the fruit typical for C. florida being nearly tubular or almost uniformly cylindrical in shape, the volume of the fruit being substantially greater than the volume of fruit of other cultivars, the vegetative and floral parts being winter-hardy in the region of New Brunswick, N.J.
Abstract: The plant hereof is notable for its dark red floral bracts and rather small compact form of tree characterized by branching of a densely profuse form being more dense than other clones of C. florida.
Abstract: A new and distinct variety of golden pygmy barberry plant named Bogozam is provided. The new variety can be readily distinguished from its parents, Berberis thunbergii `Atropurpurea Nana` and Berberis thunbergii `Aurea` (both nonpatented in the United States). For instance, the new variety forms a dwarf, compact, broad low-mounding plant; generally forms mature leaves of a brighter and more intense golden coloration; generally forms new growth having a brighter and more intense red coloration; generally exhibits a rapid growth rate between internodes of a relatively short length and a dense growth habit; and is more tolerant to sun scald. The new variety is particularly well suited for growing as attractive ornamentation in the landscape.
Abstract: A new and distinct variety of Chrysanthemum plant. The new plant is characterized by its flat capitulum form, anemone capitulum type, pinkish white ray floret color, darker purple contrasting disc floret color, a diameter across face of capitulum of 4.0-7.0 cm, upright to spreading branching pattern with ca. 3-5 breaks after a single pinch, a flowering response of 59 to 63 days from the start of short days, and a plant height for a 6.5 inch (16.5 cm) pot of about 40-52 cm with 1-2 applications of B-9 at 2500 ppm.
Abstract: A casement operator for a window has a deployment linkage connectable between the window frame and the base and operable to cause movement of the window sash. A gear drive drives the deployment linkage, which coacts with a sash lock and a lock linkage having a window-actuated trigger. A plurality of rigid links are in pivotal engagement with the deployment linkage and in driving engagement with the gear drive, and a tie rod is disposed intermediate the rigid links and the sash lock. A trip lever with a trigger extending beyond the window frame is pivotally secured to the base and engageable with the lock linkage for restricting the movement of said lock linkage during a non-locking mode of operation of the operator.
Abstract: A portable refrigeration system and process for flushing and cleaning an installed refrigeration system including disconnecting the compressor from the installed system and connecting the disconnected lines to a portable refrigeration system including a compressor, a condenser, a receiver, an evaporator, a filter, and a dehydrator so as to form a closed circuit of the installed system and the portable system; operating the portable system to flush refrigerant through the installed system alternately as a liquid and as a gas, and alternately in the normal and reverse directions of flow; passing the flushing refrigerant through a filter for removing particulate matter and through a dehydrator for removing aqueous contaminants; and returning the installed system to its separate operating circuit when all parts and when the refrigerant is judged to be cleaned.
Abstract: This improved cattle stanchion discloses an essentially coplanar and rectangular frame for automatically locking and manually releasing the heads of cattle. The frame unit consists of three vertical bars and two essentially horizontal bars, the top of which being slightly arched upwardly to form an apex over the center of the frame while the bottom bar is slightly arched downwardly to form a nadir under the center of the frame. These arches define an arc of travel for the central pivotally mounted vertical bar with an annular ring extension around the top arch of the frame. The annular ring cooperates with a locking mechanism consisting of pairs of elliptical latching sleeves mounted linearly apart and above the frame unit on a horizontal bar which may be operated by an attendant to either lock or unlock the stanchion.
Abstract: Bonded, coherent fibrous web substrates well adopted as cathodic elements for electrolytic cells and advantageously incorporating an electrocatalytic agent, include a web matrix which comprises a plurality of fibers, at least a portion of which comprising electrically conductive fibers, e.g., carbon fibers, said plurality of fibers being coherently bonded together with a fluorine-containing polymer, and said web substrate having a resistivity of up to about .[.0.4.]. .Iadd.4.0 .Iaddend..OMEGA..cm.
Abstract: An internal combustion engine control apparatus has a digital arithmetic unit to which signals are inputted from a plurality of detectors such as detectors for detecting an operational state of the engine and air fuel ratio detector and controls a fuel air ratio and ignition timing according to output signals from the arithmetic unit. The apparatus comprises by a misfire detector for detecting a misfiring state of the engine, NOx concentration detector and a controller for controlling the fuel air ratio and the ignition timing so as to fall within a tolerable stable combustion range defined by a detected misfire boundary and a detected NOx limit. The misfiring state and/or NOx concentration can be detected through detection of temperature change in the combustion chamber by a detector. The detector comprises a black body disposed in the combustion chamber and a fused silica cable mounting the black body.

Abstract: A confined system of sound transmission from a frequency attenuation compensated source through plastic pneumatic tubes in series with liquid tubes of considerable length, transmitting audio to and through pneumatic headphones to the ear canals of the user. It is an audio system suitable for use in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance scanning environments and for use in CAT scan environments. The system includes a stereo program source playing into a stereo frequency compensation amplifier driving right and left loudspeaker pneumatic drivers feeding audio to and through long liquid tubes in series with pneumatic tubes extended to left and right earphones of plastic headphones worn by a patient in a scan room environment.
Abstract: The present invention provides a sports useable body protector primarily for use as a chest protector and comprising a rigid frame with forward padding and a rearward suspension strap on the frame. The rigid frame is formed with rearwardly extending wrap around rib covering portions and wrap over collar bone and shoulder covering portions all of which are shaped to pull the rigid frame rearwardly when worn by a user such that the suspension strap is snug against the user with the rigid frame in a tight body fitting position.
