  • Patent number: 5224221
Abstract: The members, which are typically in the form of a bi-layer glove, comprise an inner layer and an outer layer, both being liquid- and air-impermeable. The outer layer is sealed to the inner layer so as to surround a zone of the inner layer which is not sealed to the outer layer. The space between the layers in the above-mentioned zone is free of air, and the outer layer is translucent or transparent in the area overlying that zone and having a contrasting color relative to the color of the inner layer, so as to provide a visual indication (a change in the perceived color) when the outer layer is breached, as a result of tampering, accidental damage or the like.

  • Patent number: 5224222
Abstract: A plumbing fixture for installation in restrooms that enables female individuals to urinate from a standing position. An elongate flexible hose has a urine collecting funnel at one end and the other end communicates with a bowl of the fixture. A sanitary liner is received by the rim of the funnel so that the funnel does not contact the body of the user. The liner is knocked off the funnel after use by a passive ejector arm when the funnel is suspended between a pair of hanger arms. The hanger arms each include a pair of arm members that guide and receive the funnel. Also, the fixture includes a trough formed in an upper portion of an inside surface to direct flushing water supplied to the fixture onto the suspended funnel for cleaning.

  • Patent number: 5224223
Abstract: The invention includes in part of a disposable. inflatable receptacle formed from a thermoplastic material, which when inflated can withstand compressive pressures, for body wastes of persons who are unable to use conventional bathroom facilities because they are confined to a bed due to illness or injury. The receptacle is larger than the conventional metal receptacle to provide more stability for a patient because of his bed confinement. The receptacle also provides improved positioning for the patient on the receptacle by the presence on at least two opposing sides of a rim surrounding the seating area. The receptacle has an upstanding portion on the front part of the seat which acts as a urinary shield. In a second form, the receptacle has a wedge-shaped rearward extension to support the back of a patient who cannot sit upon the receptacle but must use it from the prone position. The remaining part of the invention is a super absorbent pad inserted into the interior of the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 5224230
Abstract: A standard attachment temporarily converts a drywall screw gun into a drywall router-bit cutter. Adapters unique to particular brands of screw guns may be employed to allow the standard attachment to be mounted on guns of the different brands. The attachment effects a twenty-times speed-up of the screw gun screwdriver RPMs to achieve required router-bit RPMs, while depressing a special function of the screw gun. Snap rings and snug slidable fittings are utilized to effect quick attachment/detachment. A belt clip on the attachment facilitates maintaining the attachment readily accessible. In an alternate attachment form, an external portion of the housing is substituted to allow the attachment to be mounted on guns of different brands. Different types of the attachment forms allow mounting on guns which may or may not have their depth control mechanism adjustable sleeves readily removed.

  • Patent number: 5224259
Abstract: A system of manufacturing a metal wrapped non-metallic magnetic component useable about a rotor or the like comprises welding the ends of a strip of sheet metal to form a cylinder. If necessary, the cylinder may be cut about its entire circumference at two axial locations thereby isolating a central portion of the cylinder having exposed a first axial end and a second axial end. The cylinder is then form rolled to deform the first and second axial ends radially inward to form a channel located along the inner diameter. The magnetic material may then be inserted within the channel between a deformed first and second axial ends of the central cylindrical portion. The central cylindrical portion may then be form rolled such that the flanges are folded about the ends of the magnetic material.

Abstract: A package extraction tool (10) removes package (12) from socket (14) of circuit board (16). The tool (10) consists of a cylinder (18) and a piston assembly (20). Port (24) that is used to evacuate the cylinder (18) after the piston (20) is inserted in, the cylinder (18). The piston assembly (20) splits symmetrically into two halves (26) and (28) along its major axis. On one end (32) of the piston (20), there is an undercut pocket (34) to grab around the edges (36) of the package (12) and seal on flat edge (38) of pin side (40) of the package (12). A small port (42) connects the two ends (32) and (33) of the piston (20) with a controlled leak. Piston (20) fits into the cylinder (18) with a slight clearance. Leakage is controlled by the piston (20 )/cylinder (18) clearance. In use, the piston halves (26) and (28) are separated far enough to allow them to be reassembled around the package (12). The cylinder (18) is placed over the piston (20), and vacuum applied.
