  • Patent number: 5283942
Abstract: A process for producing a planar thin film magnetic head wherein a sacrificial layer is introduced to provide control of the gap planarization procedure. Unbounded planar layers of lower pole-tip material and nonmagnetic gap material are first deposited and covered with a sacrificial layer that may be selectively removed by solvent. A critical layer island is then formed by etching the excess, thereby ensuring ideal planar characteristics at the edges of the critical gap layer. Following island formation, the entire assembly is covered with a nonmagnetic insulating layer and lapped or etched smooth. This planarization process is adjusted to end in the sacrificial layer. The remaining sacrificial layer material is then removed by solvent, a step that not only ensures the integrity of the underlying critical gap and pole layers but also creates the upper step needed for staggered pole-tip and conformal pole-tip head configurations.

Abstract: Methods of producing a printed circuit board having a desired conductive pattern thereon provide the upper surface of a substrate board with raised portions having trenches therebetween. The raised portions, which define a desired conductive pattern, are then treated to form conductors thereon. In a first method, the resin used in the laminant forming the substrate board includes a hard particulate filler such as glass beads that are exposed at the raised portions of the substrate surface following grinding. Conductive metal is then welded onto the exposed filler to form a desired conductive layer over the raised portions. The outer shearing foil is held movable in the direction of the center axis relative to the head frame, while the inner cutter holder is movable along the center axis relative to the rotary drive shaft so as to be floatingly supported thereby. The dry shaver is characterized in that the outer shearing foil is connected to the inner cutter holder by means of a pin extending along the center axis such that the outer shearing foil and the inner cutter holder are movable together along the center axis relative to the head frame as well as the rotary drive shaft.

Abstract: The blade includes a frame body designed as latticework which forms together with two handle shells which can be snapped onto its side the blade handle, and includes a blade which can be clamped by a clamping screw which can be screwed into the frame body into a thread thereof located at the foreward end section of the knife handle, which blade is pressed against a supporting body covered by hard metal and located in the frame body. By the pressing of the blade against the hard metal by means of a clamping screw of which the diameter is larger than the width of the blade any kind of blades can be clamped in the knife handle without using the form locked arresting between blade and knife handle for instance in form of recesses at the edge of the blade such as common at the blades of various designs being generally available on the market. The knife can, therefore, be used with all blades available on the market.

Abstract: A device for indicating the aim, at least in bearing, of the optical axis of the reflector of a motor vehicle headlight relative to a longitudinal axis of the vehicle, wherein the device comprises apparatus for establishing a reference direction and suitable for being mounted on a fixed portion of the vehicle to define a reference direction that is well determined relative to the longitudinal axis apparatus. Apparatus is also included for establishing the direction of the optical axis of the reflector and is fixed relative to the reflector and distinct from a surface of the reflector for generating its beam. Finally, an indicator is provided for establishing the position of the optical axis direction relative to the reference direction. Indications thus given by the device enable the reflector to be adjusted after is has been mounted on the vehicle.

Abstract: A system of drying moist sludge includes a drier as a main component. The drier is composed of a lower gas fluidizing section and an upper high speed fluidizing section. Moist sludge to be be dried is introduced into a mixer in which each particle is coated with the moist sludge, and the coated particles are supplied to the gas fluidizing section. Fine particles flown away from the gas fluidizing section are fluidized in the high speed fluidizing section while they are dried by heating elements. After completion of the drying operation, dried sludge particles are collected in a dust collector. Subsequently, fine dried sludge particles are conducted to a bag type dust collecting unit from which they are discharged to a sludge hopper. A part of the coarse dried sludge particles collected in the dust collector is supplied to the gas fluidizing section, a part of the same is supplied to the mixer to be mixed with moist sludge, and the balance is delivered to the sludge hopper.

  • Patent number: 5283963
Abstract: A shoe sole comprising a case having a liquid-filled chamber which isostatically redistributes pressure on the weight-bearing portion of the foot is disclosed. The pressure created in the liquid-filled chamber is applied against the peripheral wall of the chamber. A first portion of the peripheral wall is able to buckle and store energy when the foot pushes against the ground and to release the stored energy, spring-like, into the liquid-filled chamber when the foot moves from the ground. The remainder of the peripheral wall does not buckle at pressure levels at which the first portion buckles, thereby protecting the sole from a sliding phenomenon which would cause structural instability of the sole while buckling. A force magnifying or dividing ability may also be provided by forming the surface of the chamber bottom with an area which differs from the area of the surface of the chamber ceiling which is in immediate contact with the weight-bearing surface of the foot.
