    Abstract: A portable ink-jet printer and sheet feeder which can be battery powered. The printer may be manually fed paper for operation independent of the sheet feeder. The printer and sheet feeder are mounted on a base and locked at 90 degrees to one another. They may then be rotated into two operating modes in which automatic sheet feeding occurs, one of which provides a straight paper feed path for relatively stiff print media and/or printing relatively dense graphics. A paper output system includes a pair of wings and a deflector which place various arches in the paper as it emerges from the printer to maintain it over the previously printed sheet to permit it to dry. The printer may be configured by driving a print carriage having an arrow thereon to different positions adjacent a menu. When the arrow is opposite a desired configuration option, the option is selected by pressing a button.

    Abstract: A jack extension tube for use on power seat adjuster mechanisms for vehicles is provided comprising an elongated tube having a first section and a second section spaced from the first section. A threaded member includes a knurled outer surface and is frictionally retained in the first section by inwardly extruding the tube onto the threaded member, the threaded member being engageable longitudinally from one end of said tube by a jack screw. The second section of the tube includes a pair of transversely oriented opposing apertures formed in the tube sidewalls and adapted to receive a pin-like member or fastener. The material defining the apertures is extruded in the transverse direction followed by collapsing the tube sidewalls so that the opposing flanges abut one another. Thus, the flanges provide a continuous, enlarged, work-hardened bearing surface to support the pin-like member or fastener.

    Abstract: A burnishing drill includes a cylindrical shank and a drill body connected to the shank. Drilling edges, first reaming edges and second reaming edges are formed on a first reduced diameter portion, a second reduced-diameter portion and a third reduced-diameter portion respectively located at a foremost end of the drill body. Each of the reaming edges is inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis of the drill at an angle which is set so as to be within a range of between 5.degree. and 30.degree.. During a boring operation using the drill, a hole is drilled by the drilling edges and the drilled hole is then worked by the first reaming edges and the second reaming edges to provide a smooth inner wall in the drilled hole. Since each of the reaming edges is formed to extend radially outward from the foremost end of the drill and incline axially in the rearward direction at a relatively small angle, the centering property can be greatly improved.

The data relating to the equations of the reference surface and the rough surface are compared in an information processing unit. A mobile machining device is positioned close to the rough surface. The machining device is controlled by specific orders generated by the comparison of the equations for the reference and rough surfaces respectively. The machining device gradually rectifies the rough surface to make it progressively coincide with that of the spatial equation of the reference surface.

Supports or forks are also provided which protrude from the head section and are used to support the objects to the transported. The apparatus has a leveling system which includes movable counterweights attached to chains. The movable counterweights balance the effect of the objects that the apparatus supports, keeping it level in the horizontal direction. The backstand can be folded down into the head section and the tail section folded onto the head section. Prior to or after use, as the apparatus is a lightweight, compact system, it can be transported in a pickup truck.

    Abstract: An axial flow fan device capable of reducing the stagnant flow at the root area of blades. These blades 18 are arranged so that they extend radially from a boss portion 14 so that they are circumferentially spaced along the circumference of the boss portion 14. Each of the blades 18 has an arc shaped cross section having a bending ratio value .alpha., that is a ratio of the bending height h of the arc shape to the length l of the chord of the arc shape. The value of the bending ratio rapidly increases from the middle portion of the blade to the root portion. The value of the bending ratio at the root portion is about 12%.

    Abstract: The objects of the invention are to prevent the backflow of slurry by first enclosing it in a closed space and then using air to force it along a discharge channel, and at the same time to ensure the smooth throughput of the slurry by causing any foreign bodies in the slurry to be broken up en route. To this end, the invention is provided with a casing enclosing a circular cross-section rotor chamber and a rotor which fits inside said rotor chamber and which is caused to rotate by a drive means. The rotor is also fitted with blades en bloc which extend radially from the rotating center section and which form moving chambers that rotate along with the rotor inside the rotor chamber. The casing is also provided with an intake port that connects with the moving chambers at the slurry intake point and a discharge port and air supply port, each of which connects, with the moving chambers at the slurry discharge point.

    Abstract: A pump having no moving parts which can be used to pump high temperature molten metal or other fluids in a vacuum or low pressure environment, and a method for pumping such fluids. The pump combines elements of a bubble pump with a trap which isolates the vacuum or low pressure region from the gas used to create the bubbles. When used in a vacuum the trap prevents the pumping gas from escaping into the isolated region and thereby reducing the quality of the vacuum. The pump includes a channel in which a pumping gas is forced under pressure into a cavity where bubbles are formed. The cavity is in contact with a reservoir which contains the molten metal or other fluid which is to be pumped. The bubbles rise up into a column (or pump tube) carrying the fluid with them. At the top of the column is located a deflector which causes the bubbles to burst and the drops of pumped fluid to fall into a trap. The fluid accumulates in the trap, eventually forcing its way to an outlet.

    Abstract: A rotary/reciprocating liquid dispensing pump for dispensing liquids in the nanoliter range has a narrow radial slot extending longitudinally from an end of a reciprocating, rotating cylindrical piston sliding in a smooth cylindrical bore of a pump housing at a closed end thereof, which slot extends outwardly to the periphery of the piston. The piston is selectively positioned in alignment with one of a plurality of circumferentially spaced small diameter radial passages within the housing opening directly to the cylindrical bore in the path of rotation of said slot. The ports thereof opening to the cylindrical bore are spaced circumferentially a distance in excess of the width of the slot. A linear liquid dispensing pump apparatus including such pump includes a stepping motor and an electromagnetic clutch/braking mechanism concentrically surrounding a lead screw, and the lead screw is threadably engaged with a stepping motor tubular rotor shaft.

An opening end of the second cup-shaped portion is releasably and hermetically connected to another opening end of the cylindrical portion. A first, second and third sub-assemblies are separately prepared, and then are assembled into the compressor. The first sub-assembly is formed by the first cup-shaped portion and at least one internal component part of the compressor.

By tuning the stub pipe dimensions, the reflected pulse from the stub pipe is combined with the reflected pulse from the discharge piping so that the pulse arriving back at the discharge of the compressor is out of phase with the compressor discharge pulse, reducing the pulse amplitude in the pipe.

    Abstract: A heated injection molding nozzle having a cylindrical locating flange extending forwardly from a rear collar portion to mount the nozzle in a well in a cooled mold. The nozzle has a cylindrical central portion with an insulative air space extending between it and the surrounding cooled mold. A hollow thermocouple tube extends through the rear collar portion and along the inner surface of the locating flange to removably receive a thermocouple element which extends from the rear end of the nozzle and through the insulative air space to monitor the operating temperature near the forward end of the nozzle. In the event of pressurized melt escaping to fill the air space, contact of the thermocouple tube with the locating flange cools the melt which flows into the thermocouple tube sufficiently to freeze it and prevent leakage out amongst the wiring in other parts of the mold.

    Abstract: A slide retainer for an injection mold tool with positive locking, recessed mounting, and guide bar capabilities. The retainer includes a track channel insert rigidly mounted in the base plate of an injection mold tool and a cooperating cylindrical insert mounted for rotational movement in the slide. The channel insert may be extended outwardly from the base plate to serve secondarily as the slide guide bar. The cylindrical insert includes an eccentrically mounted track pin and a torsional spring thereby biasing the track pin for rotation movement. The channel insert includes a circumferential heart-shaped channel that defines an island in the middle thereof. The track pin extends into the channel and traverses the circumferential path once during each mold cycle. A unidirection flapper gate is provided to route the pin through the channel in the proper direction. Slide retention and locking are achieved when the track pin is oriented in the indented portion at the top of the heart-shaped channel.

The trap is designed to reduce particulate deposition within the process chamber, thereby decreasing the likelihood of by-product contamination of the wafers. The trap includes a housing having at least one sidewall, a bottom wall and a top wall which together define an inner compartment. The housing is attached to the exhaust port of the process chamber such that exhaust by-products in the process chamber may not be evacuated through the exhaust port around the housing. The housing has an input opening in the sidewall through which exhaust by-products pass from the process chamber into the inner compartment. An output opening extends through the sidewall near the top wall through which exhaust by-products are subsequently removed from the interior compartment of the housing.
