Abstract: A new and distinct variety of Floribunda rose plant is provided which abundantly forms attractive double bicolored blossoms which are long lasting when cut and placed in a vase. The blossoms are light Cardinal Pink suffused with Turk Red on the upper side and light Cream Yellow more or less edged and suffused with light Cardinal Pink on the under side. The plant exhibits vigorous vegetation and exhibits a bushy growth habit. The new variety is well adapted for greenhouse forcing and is particularly well suited for cut flower production. Good resistance to cryptogamic diseases also is exhibited.

Abstract: A new plant variety of the Bromeliaceae, or pineapple, family, Ananas comosus, has been developed as an interspecific cross between Pineapple Research Institute hybrid clone 58-1184 and Pineapple Research Institute (PRI) hybrid clone 59-443, and has been named hybrid CO-2. This hybrid clone generally resembles the parent varieties, but is distinguished therefrom in that this plant produces a sweeter, more viamin C rich fruit, which is low in parasitic fruit diseases, and tolerant or resistant to the physiological disorder called internal browning. This plant has more uniform yellow color, good fruit appearance after refrigerated storage, and produces acceptable crop yields of saleable fresh pineapple.

Abstract: A new and distinct variety of plum tree which is somewhat remotely similar to the "Black Beaut" plum tree in that it produces fruit which are mature for harvesting and shipment approximately simultaneously with the fruit of the "Beaut" plum tree, but from which it is distinguished by having a greater regularity of bearing, due to the production of pollen, and wherein the fruit has a more uniformly dark purple skin coloration, a more balanced flavor and a smaller pit without a tendency to fragment.

Abstract: Poinsettia `586` is a new cultivar of the "curly" flower type, distinguished by red flower bracts, unique flower bract formation and presentation, dark green foliage and self-branching characteristics. The new plant produces a very desirable branched flowering pot plant. The post-production foliage and bract retention is excellent even under low light intensities in the consumer's home.

A relatively flexible helical coil is positioned over the distal end portion of an elongated shaft which increases in flexibility toward its distal end. The coil is affixed to the shaft at the proximal and distal ends of the coil and at an intermediate point near the distal end. A jacket having an outer diameter substantially equal to the outer diameter of the coil covers the shaft between the proximal end of the shaft and the proximal end of the coil. In one disclosed embodiment, the jacket is formed by heat shrinking a tubular sleeve of polyethylene about the shaft.

A flexible belt is attached to the outer surface of the pad for securing the pad around the player's torso in a position in which the inner surface of the pad is adjacent the torso. A plurality of removable plates are attached to the belt for covering portions of the outer surface of the pad. The plates are constructed for receiving the impact of blows delivered to the rib protector and distributing the impact force to the pad. The plates are separate from one another and individually removable from the belt whereby a player using the rib protector may attach a selected number of plates to the belt.

Abstract: A method of locating properly and comfortably a protective helmet on the head of a person. A fit, locating and comfort band is mounted around the persons head, namely adjacent the ears and the back of the head and over the forehead. Thereafter, a protective plastic helmet having a foam lining is mounted over the band as a separate and distinct operation. The method further comprises employing a harness above the band to aid in keeping it in place while the helmet is subsequently mounted, and to protect the top of the head from discomfort caused by a central foam element of the helmet. The apparatus comprises the band and harness and helmet employed in combination with each other, but with no need for the band or harness to be connected to the helmet. In accordance with another aspect of the method and apparatus, an inflatable bladder is employed to aid in maintaining the band and helmet in the desired positions.

Abstract: A cyclist helmet comprises a molded helmet body defining a recessed interior for receiving therein the head of the cyclist and a tail portion through which an air passage is formed with a first opening on the top surface of the helmet and a second opening located on the underside of the tail portion to allow air to flow therethrough and thus creating a negative pressure zone under the tail portion which provides a suction to exhaust the air inside the helmet interior. A fastening strip is provided to secure the helmet on the head of the cyclist.

Abstract: The incinerator toilet has an incinerator chamber with a lid and a split bowl. Apparatus is provided for causing the lid to completely clear the chamber opening before the split bowl sections begin to open. This is accomplished by operatively connecting the rear bowl section with the front bowl section such that the rear bowl section moves only with the movement of the front bowl section. A cam mechanism is operatively coupled with the lid mechanism so that the lid clears the chamber opening before the cam allows the front bowl section to open.

Abstract: Apparatus for rinsing hair including a liquid impervious outer shell member and a liquid pervious inner shell member which define a fluid chamber therebetween, and constructed such that when the device is positioned on a user's head, the rear portion of the user's head is left uncovered thereby defining a rear opening through which the user's hair may extend. Preferably, the inner shell member covers a greater portion of the rear portion of the user's head than the outer shell member. A cape may be provided which extends around the rear portion of the user's hairline. A device for delivering liquid to the fluid chamber is provided. The apparatus is constructed such that when a user's head is in a tilted back position over a fluid basin or the like, fluid flows from the fluid chamber, through the hair of the user, out of the rear opening thereof, and into the fluid basin, thereby effectively rinsing the user's hair.

A first end of each subunit is attached to the wall in spaced apart relationship with respect to the first end of the other subunit, and opposite, second ends of the subunits abut one another, when opened, to form the shower stall. When the subunits are opened to form the shower stall, the inner segments are able to fold outward to the rest position while the outer segments are able to fold inward into the rest position but are blocked from folding further outward.

A drive bar is shifted by rotation of an actuator shaft to lock the drive plate to the ram and extend the ram from the housing. The drive spring resiliently biases the drive plate to an unlocked or return position. A hold spring biases the hold plate to a locked position to prevent return movement of the ram into the enclosure. A release bar is shifted into engagement with the hold plate upon reverse rotation of the actuator shaft to release the plate and permit lowering of the ram into the enclosure.

The valve has an entrance mouth with one or more closure lips pivoting been open and closed positions to open and close the mouth. The lips are biased towards closure with low creep biasing means, as by materials having a strain at its elastic limit of below 0.5 such as one or more metal springs urging the lip toward closure. The magnitude of the opening bias throughout the range of movement of the lips between open and close under dynamic flow conditions is substantially less than the closing force created by the water flow through the valve mouth urging the lips towards closure and substantially greater than the closing force imparted by flow through the mouth during lip travel from full closure to the open position.

As the cleaner moves along the pool bottom it pivots around the projected leg to change direction. Manual or automatic means can be provided to activate the hydraulic legs.

Abstract: An automatic toothbrush enables a user to brush all teeth of an arch simultaneously. A toothbrush portion includes a set of brushes arranged in an arc shaped to coincide with the shape of the user's mouth. The toothbrush includes side brushes for brushing the sides of the user's teeth, and occlusal brushes for brushing the biting surfaces of the teeth. All of the brushes are connected together by gears, so that rotation of one of the gears causes rotation of all of the brushes. The toothbrush includes a handle which contains a motor, the motor being connected to a drive shaft which engages one of the gears. The toothbrush also includes a display screen which is connectable to the handle, and which provides educational material or entertainment to the user while the toothbrush is in use.

Opposed ends of the structure have water dispensers for respectively providing an initial wetting and subsequent rinsing of a child passing through the structure. A soap spray dispenser is provided after the initial wetting dispenser, and a subsequent pair of cloth scrubbers are also interiorly positioned on the structure. A child, either walking or riding a toy vehicle through the structure, is washed by being initially wetted, then sprayed with a soap spray, followed by a cloth scrubbing and a subsequent rinsing. A unique spray buffer system facilitates the creation of a combined liquid curtain and mist for all of the associated liquid dispensers.

The invention monitors the rotational and translational position of the lance tube and is programmed with a schedule of lance tube rotation rates and blowing medium discharge rates for the specific configuration of the heated surfaces. Based upon the rotational and translational position of the lance tube and the distance the jet travels before impinging upon the heated surfaces, the rate of rotation of the lance tube is varied throughout every rotation to maintain substantially constant progress of the jet across the heated surfaces.

Abstract: A brace for a tool having an elongated handle and a working head disposed perpendicularly to the handle, such as a push broom, has a slidable collar and a pair of buttress rods. The working head is provided with a pair of holes on a top side, each hole being spaced from a center of the tool head on opposite ends of the tool head with respect to the center. The buttress rods are thick wires, each have a downward facing prong inclined for insertion into each respective hole for engaging in tension and compression. Each buttress rod generally defines a leg portion angled upwards from the prong and tool head towards the handle. An upper end of each buttress likewise has a prong or arm angled so as to lay flat adjacent the broom handle, parallel to a longitudinal axis of the handle and also engaging in tension and compression. The upper prongs fit into oppositely disposed channels of a collar fixed axially on the handle.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an extraction/insertion type soot blowing apparatus in which a lance tube is inserted into a combustion chamber, and a high-pressure gas is blown from a nozzle provided at the tip end of the lance tube against a deposit adhered onto the inner surface of the combustion chamber to remove the deposit. A rack adapted to be advanced and withdrawn along with the lance tube, and a long shaft for rotating the lance tube, are driven due to connection thereof with two output shafts of a differential gear device, and rotation and linear motion of the lance tube are respectively restrained within predetermined ranges. Thereby, at first the lance tube is inserted into the combustion chamber at a high speed without being rotated, and thereafter the advance is stopped and a gas is discharged while the lance tube is being rotated.

Abstract: A new and improved hand-held scraper apparatus is disclosed for scraping a surface at a plurality of predetermined scraping angles. The apparatus includes a blade support, and the apparatus is used by an operator for scraping a surface with a push-pull scraping motion parallel to the longitudinal axis of the blade support. More specifically, the apparatus includes a rigid handle, a rigid blade support connected to the handle, and a plurality of non-adjustable, blade-receiving slots located in the blade support and arranged at predetermined increments along the longitudinal axis. Each of the blade-receiving slots is oriented at a respective predetermined slant angle with respect to the longitudinal axis. The slant angles are in a range from ninety degrees to zero degrees. A blade is inserted into a respective blade-receiving slot, and, in use, the blade forms a respective scraping angle with the surface that is scraped. The respective scraping angle is supplementary to the respective slant angle.

The housing contains means for drawing high velocity air into the elongate dirt cup through the floor cleaning tool and/or free end of the elongate dirt cup so as to entrain dirt and debris and capture it within the dirt cup.

Each plate includes a plurality of sonic transducers, spaced along the longitudinal axis of the pressure vessel. The rotary device may include a plurality of arms carrying removable brush holders or a rotating parts basket. In either case, the device is driven by a motor mounted in a top cover of the pressure vessel. A liquid cleaning fluid, preferably carbon dioxide, is charged in the pressure vessel to submerge the sonic plates and workpieces secured in the pressure vessel. The transducers are then energized and the rotary device engaged to apply both sonic and mechanical agitation to the workpieces for enhanced removal of particulates.
