  • Patent number: 5345687
Abstract: In a copy control device wherein a model (6) and a workpiece moved relatively with a tracer head (4) and a tool in an X-Y plane, measured distance values to the surface of the model, which are detected by first and second non-contact detectors (5a, 5b) obliquely mounted on the tracer head (4) rotatable about a Z axis are periodically sampled to obtain the coordinate values of measured points on the surface of the model, a normal vector (Nn) on the surface of the model is calculated from three coordinate values out of four measured points (P1n-1, P1n, P2n-1, P2n) successively obtained by the both detectors, and the tracer head is rotated so as to move along a projection (N1n) of the normal vector (Nn) on the X-Y plane, so that measuring axes of the detectors are controlled to be approximately vertical to the surface of the model.

  • Patent number: 5345688
Abstract: An ice skate blade squaring device comprises a squaring body which is removably mountable to an ice skate blade. The squaring body includes a standard squaring line across one face thereof. Arranged on each end of the squaring line are sets of graduations which are utilized in determining the out of squareness of the skate blade. An angle is provided which is magnetically attachable to the skate blade. The angle is designed to abut against the face of the squaring body having the squaring indica thereon. Once the angle is abutted to the squaring frame, a visual determination of the intersection of a free edge of the angle with the squaring indicia permits a simple and accurate determination of the out of squareness of the ice skate blade. In another embodiment, a squaring body includes an arm pivotally mounted thereto. The arm supports a dial indicator which assists in determining the squareness of the skate blade.

  • Patent number: 5345693
Abstract: Offal material, such as shrimp or crab shells, fish offal, etc, is dried to produce a fine-grained base material or additive for use in foodstuffs and animal fodder by subjecting a starting material in a chamber to a turbulent air current which accelerates the material lumps into various paths of movement. Hereby the material lumps continuously collide with each other, thereby constantly exposing new surfaces or rupture. The chamber is supplied with air, having a temperature which partly depends on the temperature of the starting material and partly depends on the comminution rate, in an amount adjusted according to the amount of starting material introduced per time unit. Hereby it is achieved that free water is immediately removed from the exposed surfaces of rupture by evaporation. By exerting a counter-pressure, the material is retained in the chamber until a desired particle size has been achieved.

  • Patent number: 5345715
Abstract: The invention is a turnstile gate with a serpentine configuration instead of conventional protruding arms. Both the stationary and revolving gates are formed of a continuous configuration of pipe which loops back and forth with substantial straight sections oriented horizontally. In order for the movable gate to pass through the stationary gate, the loops of the stationary gate must be offset from those of the revolving gate by one-half a cycle, and the loops of at least one of the gates must vary in their heights so that they can be located both outside and inside of the loops of the opposing gate. The advantages of the configuration are safety, ease of manufacture and greater strength, with a unique aesthetic appearance.

  • Patent number: 5345720
Abstract: An insulation part (1) for acoustic insulation or sound absorption and preferably to serve as moisture barrier, which can be arranged in a hollow space (6) created by an outer wall (4) and an inner wall (3) of an automobile door (2), said insulation part being profiled and having a basis of foam and a continuously, approximately constant thin cross section as compared with the space between the inner surfaces of the outer wall (4) and the inner wall (3). In this connection, in order to obtain a simple but effective development, a bead (7) of substantially U-shape in cross section, developed, in particular, on the edge side and leads to a supporting of the single-layer insulation part on the inner surfaces of both the inner and the outer wall, is provided, a freely swingable section (13) of the insulation part (1) extending between two such bead formations (7, 8, etc.) which rest against both inner surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5345721
Abstract: A hook and pin fastener assembly for connecting and reliably locating a molded door trim panel to an apertured inner door panel of a motor vehicle without the need for conventional fasteners. A pair of conventional hooks are molded into the upper and lower portions of a molded door trim panel, and a locator pin is molded into a center portion of the molded door trim panel. The pair of hooks extend through corresponding apertures in the inner door panel and slidably engage the inner door panel so that movement of the upper and lower portions of the molded door trim panel is restricted in the lateral direction. The locator pin has a main body and a free end, wherein the free end is integral with and extending from the main body. The free end is slightly smaller than a locating aperture in the inner door panel, and the main body is larger than the locating aperture.

  • Patent number: 5345723
Abstract: A method for converting a gate panel into a rolling cantilever-type gate utilizing a conversion kit consisting essentially of a one-piece top-rail extrusion, commercially available roller assemblies, and hardware for attaching the top-rail extrusion to the existing gate panel. The top-rail extrusion is constructed in one piece with a flat vertical ribbed side face having vertical shoulders. The shoulders either bolt directly to the gate panel in a horizontal orientation or attach to the gate panel horizontally with contoured brackets selected to fit the gate's structural members. One side of the top-rail extrusion is provided with a longitudinal compartment having a downward facing opening along its length. The compartment serves as a trackway for upper roller assemblies which are secured to support posts. The upper roller assemblies access the compartment by way of the downward facing opening and support the gate.
