  • Patent number: 5351599
Abstract: A linear drive device has a linear motor which consists of a piston, an output rod and a control rod. The two rods extend through the two end plates of the motor housing. The working or output rod is designed for the transmission of power to some structure. The control rod cooperates a sensor for positioning. The sensor and also a valve arrangement is integrated in the housing end plate associated with the control rod. The valve arrangement controls flow through pressure fluid duct provided in the housing end plate at the control end for actuating the linear motor.

  • Patent number: 5351601
Abstract: A hydraulic control system in which the flow of hydraulic fluid to and from cylinders on either side of a piston is controlled by normally closed check valves that are opened whenever a control valve is not in its neutral state. Float check valves respectively in series with the check valves and the check valves are opened when the control valve is in a neutral state by pressure from one of the cylinders so as to permit the load to move freely in response to external forces applied to it. A normally closed check valve is provided in which load sense pressures drive it open and pressure from a cylinder is balanced out. A cross check valve is such that the ratio of the areas for driving it open to the area for keeping it shut are at least 35:1.

  • Patent number: 5351602
Abstract: The invention is an assembly of a plurality of relatively movable jointed mbers such as robotic arm segments and a mechanical muscle connected between two of the segments. The muscle has a longitudinally inflexible, radially expandable sleeve containing a pressurizable bladder of elastic material. The bladder enlarges diametrically when pressurized and bulges the wall of the sleeve outward. The sleeve thereupon contracts axially to compensate for taken up by the sleeve's outward bulge. A terminus at either end of the sleeve connects the sleeve to different segments of a jointed arm, so that the sleeve's axial contraction effects movement of one segment relative to the other.

  • Patent number: 5351604
Abstract: Apparatus for brewing coffee, tea and other beverages which consists of a lower and upper chamber which move relative to one another. The upper chamber allows the mixing of the coffee and water. The lower chamber has a filter element at the top which allows the coffee liquid to move from the upper chamber to the lower chamber while leaving the residue on the filter element. A piston in the lower chamber forces air through the water and coffee to agitate it and then sucks the coffee liquid through the filter element into the lower chamber. The coffee liquid then exits the lower chamber through an opening in the lower chamber and goes into a cup. The upper chamber then raises and separates from the lower chamber and a wiper blade which is connected to the upper chamber cleans the filter element and pushes the coffee grounds into a residue container.

  • Patent number: 5351605
Abstract: An automatic noodle cooker which continuously and automatically supplies hot water while cooking long thin ingredients such as spaghetti. The noodle cooker comprises a hot-water boiler which is divided into several water storage spaces, for example four, and which allows the supplied water to flow from space to space, and where each storage space is equipped with its own heater. The water supplied to the first storage space is heated by the heater and then moves to the next storage space. The hot water is finally supplied from the last storage space through a hot-water supply pipe to a processing section where the ingredients are processed. If new water is supplied to the first storage space equal to the amount of water which was supplied from the last storage space, the temperature of the hot water in the last storage space does not drop very much due to the fact that there are several storage spaces.

  • Patent number: 5351608
Abstract: A baking device having surface texturing. The baking surface of a cookie sheet, cake pan, pizza pan or jelly roll pan is embossed with generally rounded protrusions and smaller generally crater-like depressions. These surface features provide the baking surface with a non-stick effect. In addition, the protrusions and depressions provide the baking surface with a scratch and stain resistance resulting from the tendency for the surface features to reduce the visibility of scratches and stains which occur in the upper surface of the bakeware.

  • Patent number: 5351623
Abstract: A device is provided which safely simulates the loud noise and bright flash of light of an explosion. This device consists of an ordnance case which encloses a battery, an electronic control module, a charging circuit board, a bridge head, and a shock tube dusted with aluminum and an explosive. The electronic control module provides a time delay between initial activation of the device and the time when the device is ready to create a shock wave. Further, this electronic control module provides a central control for the electronics in the simulator. The charging circuit board uses the battery to charge a capacitor. Passing the voltage stored in the capacitor through the wires of the bridge head causes the explosive and the aluminum in the shock tube to react. This reaction produces a loud noise and bright white flash of light which simulates an explosion.

The rear wheels act as packer wheels for two rows of seeds. The walking beam system lifts a main support frame of the seeding element against the bias from a pressurized controlled hydraulic cylinder. The seeding sweep is mounted upon a trip shank. The seeds are supplied through a tube which splits at the sweep to deposit the seeds into the cavity within the sweep on either side of the center line of the sweep. A fertilizer banding knife projects downwardly and rearwardly from the lower end of the shank to a position rearwardly of the sweep.

Abstract: A novel stable inflatable or inflated sail board is provided. The sailboard includes a plurality of discrete, gas-fillable or gas-filled, elongated chambers, each chamber having a top skin and a bottom skin, each chamber, when inflated being sufficiently rigid to maintain its shape without any additional support, and to provide a flat bottom surface for contact with water, the chambers being integrally united to provide an elongated float which is of greater length than width. The sailboard also includes a supporting and stiffening rigid frame comprising a plurality of frame sections which are interconnectable with each other in a longitudinal direction, the frame supporting the floatation member and providing additional stiffness and resistance to fore-and-aft bending and torsion.

Abstract: The present invention is an improved boat hull construction, in particular for power catamarans. The individual hulls incorporate step breaks to define individual planing sections with different constant deadrise angles. Twist or warp is thereby eliminated in these sections, reducing drag and increasing efficiency. The step breaks also allow individual outboard chine flats which reduce in width from aft to fore. The catamaran tunnel features a decreasing section to compress air and provide a cushioned ride.

  • Patent number: 5351642
Abstract: A power boat hull has an inner running surface with a central running surface and an outer running surface that flanks the inner running surface. The outer running surface forms a channel with concave curvature which extends from the bow to the stern. An improved channel is shaped so that pressure builds in the channel during turning of the boat to lock the hull to water throughout the turn. A transom is provided with a deflector plate having a curved surface that is lifted out of the water during high speed running of the boat and operatively deflects water downward to force the bow of the boat into the water during low speed running of the boat. The transom dimensions are altered to accommodate varying length boats.

  • Patent number: 5351644
Abstract: A method of bovine herd management based upon a dynamic mathematical model. The method gathers data on milk production on a periodic or routine basis for each cow in the herd. The data includes factors denoting both the quantity and the quality of the milk being produced. A database for each cow is established and continuously updated. A mathematical herd management model is used to establish the database, wherein the gathered data is then modified and used to interpret and determine the actual productivity of each cow in the herd for that test day. Using this data, a manager of the herd can then breed those cows having a capability superior to their associates in the herd. Likewise, the less productive members of the herd can be culled or eliminated from the herd. Another aspect of the invention includes the use of the database to quantitatively assess the effect of change, including changes made in formulas, in environmental conditions and in breeding practices.
