  • Patent number: 5363577
Abstract: A liquid display that has a plurality of adjacent parallel tubes filled with a fluid and connected to a source of air that introduces bubbles into the tubes, so that the combination of bubbles form a word, or another recognizable graphic display. Each tube has a valve connected to the air supply, that controls the duration and flowrate of air injected into the tube so that a single bubble is formed within the tube. The valves are connected to a computer that opens and closes each valve to produce a pattern of bubbles in accordance with a computer program within the computer. The program creates a combination of bubbles that together depict a legible design or display.

  • Patent number: 5363580
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a switching mechanism of an ejector which is simple to operate and in which projecting portions on a gun are minimized. A hammer is pivoted to return to the original position when a breech is opened after a gun is fired, whereby a projection of the hammer abuts against a head of a trip rod. Thus, the trip rod is shifted longitudinally and the ejector mechanism is operated. A spiral guide which is engaged with the trip rod is formed on a selector button adjacent to the trip rod, and a groove for rotation is formed on an end surface of the selector button. When the selector button is rotated, the trip rod is shifted in the direction which intersects with its longitudinal direction, thereby switching between a state in which the projection abuts against the head and another state in which they are not abutted against each other.

  • Patent number: 5363583
Abstract: Ice fishing apparatus of the tip-up type wherein a fish line reel is supported below the water surface upon a column suspended from a cross bar resting upon the ice surface. The fishing reel is maintained in a ready position by an elastic band supported at one end relative to the column, and attached to a detent mounted on the reel. A fish on the line tends to unwind the reel tensioning the elastic band, and upon a pre-determined tension in the band being achieved the detent is released permitting the reel to deploy the line. The elastic band serves to set the hook. Preferably, the elastic band is anchored to a trigger attached to the column and operatively associated with a resiliently supported flag to indicate reel release. However, the flag indicator may be removed from the apparatus without affecting its fishing function.

  • Patent number: 5363586
Abstract: A fishing rod handle for providing a more comfortable and efficient grip during retrieving includes two distinct grips, one to be utilized during the casting motion and a separate grip to be utilized during the retrieving motion. The handle includes a reel seat on which a fishing reel is mounted, and a casting grip defined on the handle behind the reel position. The handle further includes a retrieving grip which is attached to the handle forward of the reel. The retrieving grip includes a support segment which extends upwardly from the handle, and a gripping segment which extends rearward from the support segment, so that the gripping segment is positioned above the fishing reel. This configuration is advantageous in that it provides the fisherman with a gripping location which facilitates improved balance, and which allows the fisherman to more comfortably and efficiently overcome the difficulties incurred due to the opposing upward and downward forces created during hook setting and fish retrieving.

  • Patent number: 5363587
Abstract: A remote controlled fishing device permitting an angler to fish in places remote from the angler's location or those in which it is difficult to place a fishing line by casting or trolling. The fishing device comprises a miniature sized boat having a fishing rod mounted in the stern. The boat is capable of operating at one of two speeds, or alternatively, at a continuum of speeds. A control system permits control of the direction of movement and the speed of the boat. Also mounted in the stern of the boat is a line cutter positioned so that the fishing line passes through the line cutter. Should the fishing line become snagged, the line cutter may be activated using the control system to sever the line and free the boat. The fishing boat is controlled by a four channel radio controller, held by angler, and a receiver mounted on the boat. The channels control speed of the boat, the direction movement of the boat, the line cutter, and winding of the fishing line onto the reel.

  • Patent number: 5363588
Abstract: In accordance with the invention, a fishhook includes a shank portion and a curved hook portion. The hook portion includes a point at its end remote from the shank, and defines a cavity adjacent the point. The opening of the cavity faces the shank. A movable barb is affixed for movement between a retracted position, in which the barb is substantially contained within the cavity, and an extended position, in which at least a portion of the barb protrudes. A spring arrangement urges the barb toward its protruding position. In one embodiment of the invention, a hinge pin is affixed to the hook portion adjacent the point, and transfixes the movable barb for rotary motion between the retracted and protruding positions. The spring arrangement is a leaf spring affixed to an edge of the barb. A stop is provided to prevent excessive rotary motion.

  • Patent number: 5363622
Abstract: A suspended grid system to support screw applied drywall ceilings. The system includes parallel rows of main runners suspended from the structural ceiling. Cross channel members are attached in parallel rows at right angles to the main runners. Drywall is screw attached to the lower surface of the cross channel members. Connectors are formed on the ends of the cross channel members which engage and lock to the main runners. Each such connector uses two upper latches and two lower tongue shaped stop shoulders. The lower stop shoulders will collapse in a controlled manner to relieve excessive compression as would be created from thermal expansion. The main runner will also provide a means for relieving thermal expansion.
