Abstract: A system for time-stamping a digital document, including for example text, video, audio, or pictorial data, protects the secrecy of the document text and provides a tamper-proof time seal establishing an author's claim to the temporal existence of the document. Initially, the author reduces the document to a number by means of a one-way hash function, thereby fitting a unique representation of the document text. In one embodiment of the invention the number is then transmitted to an outside agency where the current time is added to form a receipt which is certified by the agency using a public key signature procedure before being returned to the author as evidence of the document's existence. In later proof of such existence, the certificate is authenticated by means of the agency's public key to reveal the receipt which comprises the hash of the alleged document along with the time seal that only the agency could have signed into the certificate.

Abstract: A fuel injection pump having a fixed pump body with a pumping chamber having a plurality of plunger bores, a plunger mounted in each plunger bore for reciprocation, a cam rotatable for reciprocating the plungers to periodically supply an intake charge of fuel to the pumping chamber and deliver a high pressure charge of fuel from the pumping chamber for fuel injection and to sequentially position the plungers in distributor valve positions thereof to deliver the high pressure charges of fuel, via distributor ports in the plunger bores, to a plurality of distributor outlets. In one version of the pump, the plunger bores are angularly spaced about and extend radially inwardly to a central coaxial bore, the rotary cam is an annular cam which actuates the plungers inwardly to deliver the high pressure charges of fuel, and a poppet valve is mounted in the central coaxial bore to supply fuel to and spill fuel from the pumping chamber.
Abstract: A snap-over toggle linkage valve actuating mechanism for alternately opening and closing a gas inlet valve and a gas outlet valve, has a pair of spring preload arms pivotably mounted to a fixed mainframe within a sealed pressure vessel for pivoting about a first pivot axis. A first toggle link is pivoted at a first end to the mainframe about the pivot axis A. A second toggle link preferably a compression coil spring under precompression is pivoted at one end about a second pivot axis C parallel to the first pivot axis A on said pair of spring preload arms. The second end of the first toggle link is pivoted to a second end of the second toggle link for pivoting about a third axis B parallel to axes A and C.

Abstract: An exercise apparatus that simulates stair-climbing for a user. The apparatus includes a frame having a base, and a plate on the frame perpendicular to the base. A right pedal and a left pedal are on opposite sides of the plate. A drive system assembly on the plate has a right pedal sprocket, a left pedal sprocket, and a drive sprocket, wherein the right sprocket or left sprocket turn the drive sprocket in one direction only and the right and left sprockets are free to overrun in the opposite direction. The right pedal oscillates between an upper position at rest and a lower, rearward position under the weight of the user and drivingly engages the right pedal sprocket. The left pedal, operating independently of the right pedal, oscillates between an upper position at rest and a lower, rearward position under the weight of the user and drivingly engages the left pedal sprocket. A speed increasing transmission has an input and an output.

Abstract: A one piece washable garment having high thermal qualities and designed as a restraint for old and incapacitated people. The garment is closed at the front except for a small but concealed cavity at the waistline to house a catheter tube. A sheath for accessories is stitched to the underside of the front of the garment. The rear of the garment is divided into two segments held together by a plurality of fasteners, one of which extends from near the neckline to the crotch.
Abstract: An infant sac which completely, consistently, and conveniently wraps the infant's body, leaving no undesirable exposed areas such as feet, hands and collar area. The sac is comprised of loose fitting sleeves with optional mitts (10), and two broad overlapping front panels. These panels are opened and closed through the use of some form of attachment such as hook and loop fastener fasteners at two given opposite points (20, 22). No zippers, snaps nor laces are required, essentially rendering the garment free of any potential sources of discomfort and/or injury to the infant. Furthermore, the design provides for optional separate leg compartments (24) for use with infant car seats, heretofore not possible with infant sacs.
Abstract: A wristband, particularly suitable for athletic use, comprising an elastic moisture absorbing sleeve having a high friction surface located over a major portion of the wristband whereby a ball, such as a football, gripped between the wristband and the wearer's body resists removal or dropping.
Abstract: An emblem bearing cap attachment has a substantially planar, relatively stiff body defining a forward surface and a rearward surface. A primary crease extends centrally across the planar body defining an upper facing panel and a lower backing panel. The primary crease facilitates folding of the body about and capturing the adjustable straps of a baseball style cap to position the rearward surface of the facing panel in confronting relationship with the rearward surface of the backing panel whereat are fastening means to secure the panels together. The facing panel completely closes the semicircular opening at the rear of the cap and allows the display of emblems or other indicia thereon.
Abstract: A raw sewage disposal apparatus employing a heat-resistant vessel for containing raw sewage, a plurality of stirring blades for stirring the raw sewage in the vessel, a plurality of heat-holding bodies contained in the vessel, an introduction pipe connecting the vessel and a main stool, a closing device provided in the introduction pipe, a urine stool for receiving urine, a urine tank for containing urine, a discharge pipe interposed between the urine tank and the main stool, a valve interposed along the discharge pipe for discharging urine from the urine tank to the main stool, and an air supply for pressurizing the urine tank. The sewage disposal apparatus is preferably mounted in a prefabricated structure having a base, a hollow side wall portion placed on the base, and a roofed portion placed on the side wall portion to cover the interior thereof.
Abstract: A changeable sink strainer in a drain opening of a sink has a strainer body installed between the sink and a waste pipe. A threaded receiver including a flanged nut is mounted within and at a lower end of the strainer body. A decorative insert is removably disposed within the strainer body. A hollow securing element, e.g. a screw or bolt, removably engages a lower end of the decorative insert within the strainer body and threadably engages the threaded receiver to removably secure the decorative insert to the strainer body. A basket strainer with a depending stem retains the basket strainer within the strainer body. The stem has a retractable element for removably retaining the stem in the hollow securing element.
Abstract: A hydrotherapy spa includes an upwardly open, U-shaped, cross-sectional, waterproof spa shell defining a receptacle for holding water. The spa shell includes a horizontal seat portion and an integral seat back extending generally vertically upwardly therefrom. A water supply manifold is sealably mounted to the exterior of the spa shell, is spaced therefrom and forms a manifold chamber, with the supply manifold overlying a portion of the seat and the seat back. A plurality of small diameter apertures are formed in the spa shell opening to the manifold chamber. Water under pressure is circulated from the interior of the spa shell to an inlet port opening to the manifold chamber. The water is discharged through the small diameter apertures into the interior of the spa shell and against the back and buttocks of an occupant within the seat area seated at a hydrotherapy seat defined by the supply manifold and the seat and seat back of the spa shell which include the small diameter apertures.
