    Abstract: A steel sheet is plated with a molten metal in a plating tank. A buffer member is provided between a sink roll submerged in the melt in the plating tank and the side wall of tank at its delivery end from which the plated steel sheet emerges. During plating, the buffer member decelerates the melt flows coming from below the sink roll so as to settle the suspended dross in the melt. The buffer member may be in the form of a rod or a plate. If desired, it may be combined with a shield plate provided below the sink roll or a raised portion formed on the bottom of the plating tank.

The support board is disposed at a rear portion of the horizontal conveyor and includes a base board and first and second upright boards. The control circuit is used to control rotational speed of the motor. The motor has a rotary shaft on which the rubber wheel is fitted. The first upright board is formed with an arcuate notch for partially receiving the rubber wheel and the second upright board is formed with an elongated adjusting slot. An adjusting screw formed with a through hole is disposed through elongated slot to engage the spot gluing plate.

The apparatus also comprises an infrared lamp house rotatably mounted over the quartz window, and having therein a multiplicity of infrared lamps and a transparent quartz window at the lower end of the lamp house facing the quartz window of the reactor. Since the semiconductor substrate in the reactor is uniformly heated by the isolated lamp house, it is not subjected to dust that can be given off from the rotating lamp house, nor to the turbulence of the reactive gas, thereby allowing uniform growth of a semiconductor crystal on the substrate.

The manufacturing method includes hot rolling the steel, cold rolling the steel at a reduction ratio not less than 70% after pickling, and recrystallization annealing the steel by using a continuous annealing furnace in an atmosphere having a hydrogen content not less than 3% and a dew point not lower than -20.degree. C. at a temperature not lower than 730.degree. C. so that the content of remained C in the steel is kept less than 0.0015% by weight. At least one element selected from Nb, Ti and B may be added in predetermined amounts to the above composition.

    Abstract: A tinsel-type garland has outwardly-directed reflecting surface areas created by permanently creasing the free ends of the tinsel needles to form tabs bent at an angle of approximately 90 degrees from the shank of the needle. The formation of these tabs orients their surface approximately tangent to the radial array of needles and, thus, faces a plurality of reflective surfaces directly toward the viewer. Only a small additional amount of material is needed to form the tabs which aid in obscuring the center core of the garland. Hence, less compacting of the web may be needed, thus offering an additional cost saving by reducing the amount of material needed to visually fill out the garland. This construction provides a distinctive appearance, especially when mirror-like, highly-reflective metallic web material is used to form the needles.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a pultrusion process for preparing fiber reinforced furan resin composites by drawing a plurality of continuous filaments through an impregnating bath of liquid furan to wet-out the filaments with the resin and a squeeze orifice for removal of excess resin and air, and continuously pulling the resin-impregnated filament through a pultrusion die to heat and cure the resin. The liquid furan resin contains a furfuryl alcohol prepolymer and a minor portion of an acid catalyst, and is maintained at a temperature of 15.degree.-35.degree. C. and has a viscosity of 500-3000 cps during the impregnating step. A postcuring treatment may be optionally employed to the pultruded fiber reinforced furan resin composites for improving their mechanical properties, which includes heating the pultruded composites at a temperature of 100.degree.-220.degree. C. for a period of 1-18 hours. Adding 1-15 wt % of mineral fillers may also improve the mechanical properties of the pultruded composites.

During the hemming operation the nested panels are in constant direct contact with the panel support nest, and the heated flange bending members are in direct contact with the hem for approximately 3 to 6 seconds (dwell time is dependent on whether the die blocks are heated or if the die blocks are heating in conjunction with the top surface of the panel support nest), which is generally sufficient to at least partially cure the adhesive located in the hem, thereby reducing the incidence of panel shift during subsequent transfer through the manufacturing process using conveyors, racks etc.

The shuttle is provided with micrometers to separately adjust the position of the memory cards about three independent axes to allow greater precision in label placement. Placement of labels on the memory cards is also enhanced through the use of a number of sensors which determine relative positions of the labels on the transfer drum and the linearly moving shuttle so that rotation of the drum can be synchronized to match movement of the shuttle.

    Abstract: A method for separating boric acid from a liquid, especially liquid waste obtained from a nuclear power plant. In the method, the waste solution containing the boric acid is contacted with steam in a reactor so that the boric acid evaporates from the liquid and passes into the steam vapor phase. Consequently, the radioactive wastes which are not evaporated with the steam remain in the waste water while the boric acid is removed from the waste water when it passes into the vapor or steam phase. The boric acid can then be separated and recovered from the steam by means of a distillation and fractionating column or a wash column. By removing the boric acid from the liquid waste, it is possible to obtain concentrated radioactive waste having a reduced volume due to the absence of boric acid in the waste.

    Abstract: A vapor compression distillation system including a boiler/condenser assembly wherein a portion of the condensate is redirected back to the condenser inlet to extract superheat from the compressed vapor and transfer it to the liquid in the boiler. The vapor entering the condenser is reduced to a saturation condition to prevent heat build up in the condenser to improve heat transfer efficiency. When the temperature of the incoming feed water is within the operating range of the boiler/condenser assembly, the system is operated under vacuum sufficient to match the boiler temperature with the temperature of the incoming feed water so that no preheater or waste heat recovery exchanges are required.

Improved techniques are also provided for periodically dumping a portion or all of the water in the heating pan to reduce contamination of the system.

The activated water and irradiated oxidizing reagent are then vectored to a locus at which they are mixed under continuing UV radiation from the source. The apparatus and method may be incorporated into a water treatment system employing existing contaminant extraction techniques, such as immiscible fluids separation and turbo-aspirated sparging.
