  • Patent number: 5608965
Abstract: Elongated generally rectangular in-section conductive metal bar stock is formed by extrusion to form a post type electrical bus connector. The shorter dimension is approximately the diameter of the posts to be formed, while the longer dimension is approximately the height of the posts plus the thickness of the bus or bar from which the posts will project. The narrow end forming the bus has a triangular ridge. The bar stock is cut-to-length dictated by the number of posts to form blocks which are then loaded into specialized pallets of a machining center. The machining center is the type having at lest two pallets, one being loaded while the other is indexed with respect to the tool spindle. The machining center also includes an automatic tool changer. The machining center mills the posts with a hollow center flush mill, drills the hole in the posts and forms tapped holes followed by deburring. The bar stock may have extruded L-shape flats, one of which forms a pad for a compression type connector.

  • Patent number: 5608985
Abstract: A mechanism for securing and releasing accessories, such as bobbers and sinkers, from fishing lines. The mechanism includes a snap eyelet hook to slidably fasten an accessory to a fishing line at any position on the line without threading the line through the eyelet or breaking the line. The mechanism also includes a releasable clamp to secure the accessory to the fishing line at any position on the line without threading the line through the eyelet or breaking the line. When a fish strikes the baited hook, the increased tension applied to the line by the strike releases the line from the clamp and permits the accessory to freely slide along the line. The fisherman can then reel in and net the fish without interference from an accessory otherwise permanently secured to the line a considerable distance from the fishing pole.

A substrate having a thickness of at least 0.5 cm. is constructed that comprises an effective concentration of solid particles dispersed therein (e.g., activated carbon particles) that are capable of absorbing hazardous substances from the surrounding atmosphere. Also dispersed within the substrate is provided an effective concentration of living microorganisms that are capable of converting the hazardous substances when absorbed on the solid particles into non-hazardous substances that are capable of being utilized during the growth of plants that are rooted in the substrate.

  • Patent number: 5608993
Abstract: A sheet metal mini-wall parapet structure is provided. The structure is basically a U-shaped member formed of sheet metal. At one lower corner of the U-shaped member is formed the cleat used to attach the conventional coping member. The cleat is formed by extending one leg of the U-shaped member downwardly and folding it over in a continuous fashion with an extension from the bottom of the U-shaped member. The upright legs of the U-shaped member are staggered in height so that when a top member is attached, the top member is sloped in one direction so that any water accumulating on the top of the mini-wall parapet is drained toward the roof. The top member is usually of 3/4" pressure treated plywood which is screwed into bent over flanges along the tops of each leg of the U-shaped member. Before the top member is screwed into place, the void within the sheet metal legs can be filled with insulation to minimize heat loss through the mini-wall parapet.

  • Patent number: 5608995
Abstract: A window shutter device for automatic regulation of solar illumination in response to variations in external sunlight. Gas pressure change in a sunlit cavity causes fluid displacement between two transparent window panes. A transparent fluid is displaced by another fluid which blocks part of the sunlight falling on the panes. Glare is prevented while preserving adequate interior illumination and a clear view outside the window.

  • Patent number: 5608996
Abstract: A shelterwall assembly for a storage dock, characterized by its protrusion from the docks, beneath its canopy and the optional use of additional guarding because of its "breakaway" column feature. It is particularly useful when the storage dock has side-by-side openings for the simultaneous loading and off-loading of open truck/trailers which have been backed into registry with the dock. The units herein are anchored above and below the dock opening to provide swingable curtains that fill the gap between vehicle and building. Provision is made for optional winter or summer positioning and a lockout assembly coacts with curtain supports to retain the curtains against displacement, once they have been set.

A plurality of wall structures that are secured to the foundation. Each wall structure has a plurality of vertically oriented logs disposed side by side and a plurality of corner logs. One of the vertical logs joining to one of the corner logs. Each log has two sides that have a pair of slots therein. Each of the plurality of vertical logs have an L-shaped notch at a floor end and a ceiling end. The L-shaped notch allows each vertical log to have an inner side. The L-shaped notch of the floor end is secured to the floor plate. Each corner log has a frontal area with a plurality of slots. The plurality of slots form two outer slots and two inner slots. The floor end and the ceiling end of each corner log has a generally V-shaped notch for attaching the corner log to the floor plate.

  • Patent number: 5608999
Abstract: An assembly of extruded thermoplastic structural components for use in the construction of a building, each structural component including an elongated rigid sheet member provided with at least two integral lengthwise edgewise rails. The structural components include first flat wall structural components and second elbowed corner structural components, wherein a few of the structural components releasably slidingly interlock with one another about their rails to form a hollow elongated panel. The inside cell of the hollow panel receives concrete to be poured. The hollow panel releasably interlocks with adjacent hollow panels successively to form a continuous wall structure. The structural components in their disassembled state released from one another are compactly stackable in the smallest volume of storage, whereby shipping costs from the home country manufacture to the local building site are very low.

  • Patent number: 5609000
Abstract: An anchored/resilient floor system includes at least one upper flooring layer supported by parallel rows of attachment members which are supported above a base by a plurality of compressible pads, the attachment members being secured to the base at predetermined positions therealong by a fastener construction which permits downward deflection under loaded conditions but prevents vertical raising of the members beyond their initial static position. The attachment members are anchored in a manner which does not hold the pads in a precompressed state when the floor is unloaded. The fastener construction may include a one, two or three piece construction. The single member fastener construction is particularly suitable for reanchoring or retrofitting an already installed floor at a significantly lower cost than that of installing a new floor, and the one-piece fastener construction also may be adapted for use with a portable floor.
