  • Patent number: 5632339
Abstract: A sprinkler head comprises a tubular body having a first threaded end to be connected to a water line and having a second end that defines an outlet enclosed by a cap. A thermally responsive element, such as a glass bulb or heat fusible element, is engaged with the cap to maintain the cap in a closed position. The body is provided with a pair of generally parallel circumferential grooves. The bottom of one of the grooves adjacent the threaded end has a polygonal cross section to receive a wrench to enable the sprinkler head to be threadedly attached to a water line, while the other of the grooves receives the base portion of a wire-form protective guard that encloses the thermally responsive element.

  • Patent number: 5632340
Abstract: Equipment for fighting a fire has a suspension structure and hydraulic accumulators in the suspension structure for movement to within an action range of the fire. The hydraulic accumulators have outlet nozzles at one end for utilizing a high drive pressure in the hydraulic accumulators to produce, by suction effect, a fog-like penetrating liquid spray. In this regard, the suspension structure is a jacket structure for holding together the hydraulic accumulators in such a way that, between the hydraulic accumulators, there are longitudinal air channels.

  • Patent number: 5632342
Abstract: A lawn spreader composed of a cylindrical drum mounted to a user-operable handle assembly. Along the surface of a drum are a plurality of spaced-apart spike arrays with a plurality of aperture arrays interposed therebetween. A door at one end of the drum allows for deposit of granular materials, such as grass seed, within the drum. A paddle array within the drum is rotatable therein so as to open or close selected apertures of the aperture arrays. Upon drum rotation, as urged by the user on the handle assembly, the spikes first indent the earth with the grass seed then falling through the open apertures and into and between the resulting indentations in the earthen surface therebetween. The smooth surface of the drum then tamps the deposited seeds into the earthen surface. The spikes are preferably releasably attached to the cylindrical drum so that various types of spikes can be used.

  • Patent number: 5632343
Abstract: A soil deflecting and leveling reel is formed by end plates having a plurality of blades extending helically therebetween. Intermediate plates are positioned in spaced relation to the end plates and reinforce the reel blades. The reel is rotatably mounted on a reel support frame which is pivotally connected to a tillage tool frame in close proximity behind a disc gang. The reel support frame is resiliently urged to engage the reel with the ground whereby ground contact rotates the reel as the tool frame is drawn across a field. The blades of the rotating reel engage soil ejected upwardly by the discs and deflect the soil back to the ground to minimize lateral shifting of the soil and consequent formation of ridges and furrows by the discs. Additionally, the blades of the rotating reel break up clods of the soil and churn the soil to improve mixing and incorporation of chemicals applied to the soil.

  • Patent number: 5632355
Abstract: A grease lubricating system includes a plurality of injectors for distributing grease to a plurality of lubrication points, an injector reset valve for resetting the injectors and a pump for supplying grease. The injector reset valve is located between the pump and the plurality of injectors and includes a piston and a large heavy duty spring which urges the piston into sealing engagement with an inlet port of the injector reset valve during a reset position of the valve. During a pressurizing portion of a pump cycle, grease entering the injector reset valve moves the piston out of sealing engagement with the inlet port of the injector reset valve enabling grease to flow from the inlet port through an internal chamber of the injector reset valve and out of a outlet port to input ports of the injectors through an injector distribution junction. Each injector then delivers grease to its respective lubrication point.

  • Patent number: 5632366
Abstract: An improved, torque cushioned compressor clutch supports the armature on a hard plastic molded disk, the inner edge of which closely pilots on, but is not directly attached to, a cylindrical surface of a drive shaft mounted central hub. Instead, the outer face of the disk, near the inner edge, is abutted with an axially inwardly facing shoulder, which keeps it from pulling axially off of the hub. A softer elastomer overmold adheres to both sides of the harder support disk, adhering to the hub as well, but not adhering to the interface between the disk inner edge and hub. Therefore, when the clutch engages, the disk is free to turn on the hub, at least as far as the "wind up" limit of the elastomer allows, cushioning the engagement shock. However, during operation, the close fit of the disk on the hub prevents radial whirl.

  • Patent number: 5632368
Abstract: A hold-down element for a rotary feeder has a curved elongated member for continuously contacting an article during rotation of a rotary head. The curvature of the hold-down element is selected so that the distance from the elongated member to the rotary head increases from the point of initial contact to the final contact point on the elongated member. The hold-down element preferably maintains contact for at least 20.degree. of rotation of the rotary head, and thus maintains contact with the article for an extended period of time. The hold-down element is attached to a vacuum shaft on the rotary head, and is prevented from rotating relative to the vacuum shaft by a keyway on the hold-down element and a key on the vacuum shaft. The hold-down element, however, is permitted to travel transversely along a longitudinal axis of the vacuum shaft in order to accommodate different shaped articles.

Abstract: Expandable powered conveyors featuring a number of roller power motors located externally of the rollers. The conveyors include a pair of lazy tong trusses which may be supplemented, as desired, by telescoping rigid frames, leg structures or other structures. The motors are mounted between the trusses so that their drive pulleys are located substantially coaxial to the middle connection points of the scissor bars in the trusses and thus maintain a substantially constant distance from rollers connected to those scissor bars. Drive belts connect the motor drive pulleys to power such rollers. • Patent number: 5632372
Abstract: A conveyor tensioning assembly for an article conveyor is mounted to the frame of the article conveyor, and connected to a take-up sprocket. The conveyor tensioning assembly includes a movable rack that is engaged and moved by an advancing gear of an advancing and holding assembly in a first direction, causing the take-up sprocket of the article conveyor to be urged outwardly against the conveyor chain of the article conveyor so as to take-up any slack existing within the conveyor chain and place the conveyor chain under tension. Once the conveyor chain has been tensioned, the rack is engaged by a holding gear mounted on a one-way clutch, which prevents the holding gear from rotating in a counter-clockwise direction. The holding gear retards in any rearward movement of the rack so as to resist slippage and/or backlash of the rack to prevent the chain from losing tension and slack being formed therein to maintain the conveyor chain under a substantially constant tension.

  • Patent number: 5632374
Abstract: A holder for temporarily storing and displaying compact discs has a front, a back and a disc-receiving base sloping downward from the back to the front. The disc-receiving base has molded pockets or slots for receiving and vertically supporting the compact discs. Each pocket has a lead-in for quick drop-off of a disc and for guiding it to a trough at the bottom. The trough contacts the flat sides of the disc but does not touch the information containing regions on the programmed side. Three bumps extend inward from the walls of the trough for orienting the disc at a rearward leaning angle to enhance visual identification and to prevent the discs from tilting forward and becoming dislodged. Effective disc orientation is achieved by providing a straight slot, with no bumps, that is molded at the desired angle of disc tilt or inclination. The pockets have openings that are wider than the thicknesses of standard compact discs.
