  • Patent number: 6032658
Abstract: An ignition system includes an ignition coil which provides ignition voltage of one polarity, an igniter which supplies the primary current to the ignition coil at regular timings and a zener diode connected in series with the primary coil of the ignition coil. The zener diode shares a constant voltage drop of the opposite polarity at the secondary coil of the ignition coil, thereby reducing troublesome voltage induced in the secondary coil other than at regular ignition timings. On the other hand, the zener diode does not share the voltage drop of the ignition voltage at the regular timings, and thus no energy loss is incurred.

  • Patent number: 6032660
Abstract: A bow with modified braking uses flexible bow limbs attached above and below a bow handle. The bow limbs have wheels that guide a bow string and form pulleys. The pulleys mechanically assist in holding the bow limbs when the bow string is drawn. A remotely controlled brake operated by a brake lever near the bow handle is used to limit bow wheel motion to reduce the difficulty of holding a drawn bow string. The remotely controlled brake has spring held brake contactors capable of elastic extension and retraction in the directions of bow wheel rotation that engage with a braking surface located on the bow wheel. The modified brake requires an archer to hold some of the pressure of a drawn bow string to prevent the bow wheel from extending the brake contactors which would release the bow string.

  • Patent number: 6032664
Abstract: A self contained breathing apparatus has a display of air pressure within the face mask in the field of vision of the user of the breathing apparatus. The display is four lights that indicate the four quarter-tanks of pressure, and the lights change to indicate the amount of air remaining. A transducer receives tank pressure and provides an electric signal. The air pressure is placed on a bourdon tube which rotates a disk in response to changes in pressure. One half of the disk includes a gradient, and a light source emits light through the gradient to be received by a light sensor. As the disk rotates, the gradient varies the amount of light received by the sensor, so the electrical output of the sensor varies.

  • Patent number: 6032694
Abstract: Plug for capping or sealing the open ends of tubular members, such as tubular support members utilized on a Bimini boat top or other boat structure. The plug has a cap from which extend upper and lower rearwardly projecting tapered planar support panels each of which includes an outwardly protruding array of ramped teeth formed integrally therewith. The height of the teeth in each array increases incrementally from a minimum height near the end of the plug remote from the cap to a maximum height adjacent to the cap. The ramping of the teeth allows for accommodational frictional engagement of the teeth with various inside dimensions of tubular support members to secure the plug tightly therewithin. A hole extends transversely through the body of the plug for receipt of a pin for pivotally securing the end of a tubular support member containing the plug to a support bracket or other members.

  • Patent number: 6032698
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for lining a pipe through a sealing internal lining by using a flexible tube including adhesive, which is introduced into said pipe in turning inside out manner and is kept dimensionally stable until the adhesive is cured. To reduce the frictional force during the introducing operation a strip additive is deposited onto the outside of the flexible tube prior to the turning up operation. A strip additive having a gel-like consistence is used to minimize the frictional force. For a uniformly wetting the flexible tube with the strip additive, this is transferred into a liquid condition by heating prior to depositing. After depositing, it quickly cools down to the ambient temperature such that the required gel-like consistence is ensured for the introducing operation. Thereby it is possible to line pipes or ducts comprising several pipe bends an angles within the line course.

  • Patent number: 6032699
Abstract: A secondary containment system for containing fuel leaks or leaks of other environmentally hazardous fluids includes a containment chamber and a detection system for detecting leaks. The containment system includes a fluid-carrying inner pipe and a containment pipe surrounding the inner pipe with an interstitial space being defined between the two pipes for containment of leaks. The interstitial space is pressurized with an inert fluid at a constant pressure greater than the pressure of the fluid flowing through the inner fluid-carrying pipe. Monitoring of the pressure of the inert fluid in the interstitial space triggers an alarm indicating that a leak has occurred. The location of the leak can be determined by the use of multiple pressure sensors. The containment pipe is reenforced to withstand pressures of at least 75 psi.

  • Patent number: 6032705
Abstract: A delivery system for dispensing controlled amounts of liquid or powder has two slidingly engaged parts which are held together as a single unit. The system is closed by pushing one of the two parts toward the other until a valve plug in the upper part of the system is received within an aperture of a valve seal membrane in the lower part of the system. The system is opened by pulling one part of the system away from the other using the sliding engagement means so that the valve plug exits the aperture in the valve seal membrane. Interior contoured walls prevent undesired collection of powder within the system, the relative orientation of the two parts of the system is adjustable to control the rate of flow of powder, and the system is particularly suitable for introducing powdered desiccants into medical waste containers without exposing the contents of the waste containers to the surrounding environment.
