  • Patent number: 6050030
Abstract: Corrugated metal roof panels have overlapping opposite curled edge portions defining channels adjacent the ridge portions of the roof panels. Parallel spaced support rods have inner end portions which project into the channels and are secured by fasteners. The support rods project from the ends of the roof panels and have outer end portions secured by fasteners to the top flange on the outer wall of a U-shaped rain gutter. The inner wall of the gutter has a top flange secured by fasteners to the valley portions of the roof panels at the ends of the roof panels, and each valley portion has a lip projecting downwardly into the gutter. Tapered closure panels fill the corrugations above the inner wall of the gutter and have edge flanges crimped to the end portions of the roof panels.

  • Patent number: 6050039
Abstract: The present invention provides a ventilation system for an attic or rafter space that mimics the appearance of the roofing material and thus has little effect on the appearance of the building. The vent has two pieces, a primary vent and a secondary vent and they may be made of aluminum, galvanized steel or copper. The primary vent is installed on a roof deck over a ventilation opening cut through the deck. The secondary vent is constructed to look like the surrounding field tiles and is installed over the primary vent. One or more vent openings in the secondary vent and an opening in the primary vent conduct air between the attic or rafter space and the outside. The secondary vent has a skeleton with one or more vent openings and a cap covering each opening shielding the ventilating space. Skeletons are formed in one piece and are made to fit each different size and type of roofing tile. The caps and the skeleton are ribbed for rigidity.

  • Patent number: 6050043
Abstract: A completely closed and reinforced box-like structure for forming a void area in a concrete formation is constructed of a flat sheet that is scored with a plurality of parallel crease lines and features a side edge reinforcing panel. The reinforcing panel has a plurality of slots thereon. A plurality of interior and end pieces are slit scored so that they may be folded to provide interior and end support units. The support units define a plurality of spaced apart partitions having a plurality of slots and flat support surfaces thereon. The structure is assembled by initially folding the side edge reinforcing panel into a position generally normal to the flat sheet to define a longitudinal rib. The support units are then attached to the longitudinal rib by registering the slots in the partitions in interlocking relationship with corresponding slots on the rib.

  • Patent number: 6050052
Abstract: A round baler is disclosed as including an improved bale wrapping mechanism that provides positive feeding of the wrapper at the start of the wrapping cycle. The mechanism includes a shiftable frame carrying a pair of feed rollers, with one of the rollers being brought into engagement with a stretch of the belts moving toward the baling chamber when the frame is shifted to a starting position. The wrapping mechanism is configured so that the belt stretch and the one feed roller cooperatively define a nip that is located downstream along the wrapper path from the nip defined between the feed rollers. A cutting assembly is disposed to sever the wrapper at a point spaced downstream from the nip defined between the belt stretch and the one roller, thereby insuring the wrapper presents a free end that is trapped between the one roller and the belt stretch when the frame is moved to the starting position.

  • Patent number: 6050053
Abstract: An improvement to prior art bag closure affixing devices of the type embodied in U.S. Pat. No. 3,163,967 to easily accommodate bags of various neck widths without the need for gear or sprocket changes. The improvement encompasses a modified clutch control for the bag closing head. The clutch is controlled by a clutch actuating arm which is mechanically connected to the clutch. When the actuating arm is depressed, the clutch disengages from a first stop surface and rotates only partially until engaging a second stop surface. The second stop surface remains in contact with the clutch, preventing completion of the closing cycle, until the bag neck completely passes over the actuating arm and the actuating arm is released. The second stop surface then disengages the clutch allowing the bag closing head to complete a closing cycle with bags of varying neck sizes without frictional damage to the bag or incomplete entry of the full bag neck.

The apparatus has a set of panels surrounding the bale at a bagging station of the apparatus and supporting the tube in a stretched state out of contact with the bale. As the bale passes through the bagging station, the tube is pulled off the panels and shrinks onto the bale. The bale support panel is equipped with a resilient sheet on the outer surface to distribute the stretching load over the bag to eliminate areas of high stress concentration on the bag. The bales are supported as they travel through the apparatus on two parallel, linear rails to minimize the draft force on the apparatus. The tube support panels pivot on axes that lie in a common plane perpendicular to the bale path.

Abstract: A triangularly shaped frame having truncated and flattened vertices serves as a structural load-bearing member for an attachment to a yard tending device, such as a gas powered yard trimmer or leaf blower. A pair of support and maneuvering wheels is affixed to the frame. Affixed centrally to the frame, and rising generally vertically therefrom, is the first end portion of a lawn tending device support bar. At its first end portion, the support bar is of generally straight configuration. This straight portion serves to hold the lawn tending device at a sufficient elevation with respect to the ground. The straight portion of the support bar smoothly transitions to generally declining compound arcuate spanning portion. The spanning portion smoothly transitions to a generally declining straight second end portion. The second end is formed such that it comprises a cradle or channel running centrally and axially according to the length of the second end portion.

Abstract: A harvester is disclosed for harvesting leafy vegetables, lettuce and the like which are very delicate and which are grown in precisely configured beds of either a regular or single width (40 inches or 42 inches) or a double width (80 inches). A conveyer/cutter assembly is located on one side of the harvester centerline and has a width somewhat exceeding the width of a single width bed. The wheels on each side are separated by somewhat more than the width of a double bed. The driver and engine is located on the other side of the centerline. Such a harvester can cut single width beds, or can cut double width beds by making a first pass in one direction and a second pass in the other direction. An improved single conveyer/cutter assembly is disclosed along with a method of harvesting and processing leafy vegetables to reduce the amount of debris and unwanted material in the harvested leafy vegetables.

  • Patent number: 6050074
Abstract: The present invention describes a self-propelled or pulled baler for producing bales of agriculturally-harvested crops. Harvested crops are compressed in the feeding channel before entering the actual baling chamber. For this purpose a sensor reaches into the feeding channel. Crops will be pushed against the sensor by the feed rakes. As soon as a pre-adjusted pressure can be measured at the sensor, and the baling ram has moved towards the front dead center position, the motion track of the feed rakes will be switched so the compressed crops located in the feeding channel will be fed into the baling chamber through a single loading stroke. The change of the motion track of the feed rakes dependent upon the pressure sensor has the advantage that, with each loading stroke, an equal amount of compressed crops are fed into the actual baling chamber. Thus, bales of a consistent density can be produced.
