  • Patent number: 6067714
Abstract: A personal groomer includes a hand-holdable housing within which is disposed a battery operated motor coupled to a cutting head assembly that protrudes at least partially from a distal end of the housing. An impeller fin assembly is attached to a lower portion of the cutting head assembly for rotation therewith when the motor is energized. Preferably the lower portion of the cutting head assembly and the impeller fin assembly are surrounded by a thimble-shaped member defining sidewall vents and having an opening in its upper surface, through which a distal portion of the cutting head assembly protrudes. A light source is mounted in the housing so as to focus light on hairs to be cut with the groomer. The groomer is cleaned by submerging the distal end of the housing assembly in water and energizing the motor. • Patent number: 6067720
Abstract: A method for determining a torsional structure in the surface roughness of a finished shaft journal includes making a plurality of axial scores on a circumferential strip of the shaft journal, with a high axial measurement point density at different but exactly known circumferential positions as well as with exactly known axial positions. The individual local roughness profiles are printed out in a close sequence with respect to one another corresponding to their positions. The measurement charts are raised or elongated in the radial and axial directions and upset in the circumferential direction. Thus, a topography with multidimensional affinity showing the microstructure of the surface in three dimensions in a diagonal view is obtained. An autocorrelation function is formed from this topography, stochastic elements are eliminated, and a surface topography is obtained that essentially contains only the periodic elements.

  • Patent number: 6067721
Abstract: An apparatus for checking the diameter of crankpins (18) of a crankshaft (34) in the course of the machining in a grinding machine comprises a first arm (9) rotating with respect to a support (5) arranged on the grinding-wheel slide (1) of the grinding machine, a second arm (12) rotating with respect to the first, a reference device (20) carried by the second arm and a measuring device (16, 17, 40-45) associated with a reference device. A guide device (21), fixed to the reference device (20), enables the apparatus to engage a crankpin, in the course of the orbital motion of the crankpin, and limit the displacements of the first arm and those of the second arm when a control device (28-30) displaces the apparatus to a rest position.

Abstract: A marking tape having a plain paper body. The body is dimensionally stable and rippable, with the paper being flexible, but stiff enough to retain a fold therein. The tape has a first surface with a plurality of relative measurement markings and a second surface with an adhesive applied thereto. The first surface is also treated with a release agent, to permit the adhesive layer to release from said first surface when formed into a roll. A longitudinal bending feature is provided, in the form of a score or razor cut which facilitates placement of the marking tape onto a material to be marked.

Abstract: A hair drying assembly has a hair dryer that is particularly suited for using one of a plurality of interchangeable brush heads. The hair dryer has an ellipsoid shaped housing with a cylindrical outlet section at one end and a pivotal grip section at the other end. The handle is pivotally and removably attached to the housing. In one embodiment the handle is attached with air inlet passages formed by legs connecting to the housing and additional slots at the inlet end of the housing. Control buttons for regulating the motor are on the pivotal handle grip section. Outlet passages are provided in the outlet section. One form of brush head is hollow with peripheral openings and bristles extending therethrough and another brush head is solid with the bristles fixedly attached. In another embodiment there is a bifurcated handle with spaced arms that pivotally connect to the housing inwardly of the air inlet end.

  • Patent number: 6067726
Abstract: A combination infrared/convection dryer or oven for drying travelling webs. A shutter assembly is provided between the infrared radiation source and the moving web in order to selectively expose the web to infrared radiation. Drying efficiency is optimized by adding heated impinged air at high velocity on the machine direction ends and between the infrared elements. The air being discharged on the web is heated as it is pulled across the elements to a centralized return air duct. The return air is pulled into the inlet of a close coupled supply fan which then discharges the air to the nozzles. A portion of the air is also exhausted to atmosphere to maintain the oven enclosure in a negative pressure state, thus drawing fresh make-up air into the oven housing through the web inlet and outlet slots. Flotation nozzles can be used where contactless support of the running web is desired. Enhanced drying of the web and/or a coating on the web at high speed is achieved without a concomitant increase in dryer length.

Abstract: A cover is provided to an opening of a chamber in such a manner to open and close the opening and when the cover closes the opening, the chamber and the cover form a sealed drying process space. In this drying process space, nitrogen gas is supplied to purge the gas in the drying process space to turn into an inert gas filled space. Thereafter, substrates to be treated are brought into the drying process space. nitrogen gas is further supplied to the drying process space and then the substrates are being rotated to dry the same.

  • Patent number: 6067728
Abstract: An apparatus and method for drying a microelectronic structure on wafer substrate using supercritical phase gas techniques and a unique pressure vessel locking mechanism. There is lid and a base with an open cavity to contain at least one microelectronic structure on wafer substrate. Clamping the lid to the base uses locking clamp rings with open jaws large to partially enclose the edge of the vessel. The clamp rings are supported symmetrically about the sides of the vessel. The rings are adjusted between an open position where the rings are clear of the vessel and a locking position where the jaws partially enclose the vessel. The jaws and the vessel share a tapered cam plate and roller system configured to bring the rings into vertically compressive locking engagement on the pressure vessel when the rings are moved into locking position. Mechanical interlocks provide security against back pressure opening the rings.

  • Patent number: 6067729
Abstract: A shoe bar is useful for drying shoes in a conventional clothes dryer. The shoe bar has a relaxed length that is equal to or slightly greater than the inner diameter of the drum of the clothes dryer. The bar ends are inserted into the shoes. The bar is manually bent and placed in the drum. One shoe is placed against the drum inner diameter, and the other shoe is placed proximate the drum diametrically opposite the first shoe. The bar is released. The elastic material exerts a restoring force that tends to return the bar toward its relaxed configuration. The bar is too long to relax completely, so it remains at a working configuration whereat it urges the shoes against the drum. The shoes remain pressed against the drum, so they do not tumble when the clothes dryer is operated to rotate the drum.

  • Patent number: 6067730
Abstract: A textile drying system is presented which draws in a quantity of air from an external space substantially equal to a quantity of air exhausted to the external space. The textile drying system includes one or more textile drying appliances (i.e., dryers) and a single air handling unit. Each dryer has an air input port and an air output port. During use, the single air handling unit provides a first quantity of air from a space outside a room in which the one or more dryers are located to the air input port of each dryer. A second quantity of air is exhausted through the air output port of each dryer to the space outside the room, wherein the second quantity of air is substantially equal to the first quantity of air. As a result, the textile drying system does not draw air from, or provide air to, the room in which the textile drying system is located.
