Abstract: A method for fabricating a thermophotovoltaic energy conversion cell including a thin semiconductor wafer substrate (10) having a thickness (.beta.) calculated to decrease the free carrier absorption on a heavily doped substrate; wherein the top surface of the semiconductor wafer substrate is provided with a thermophotovoltaic device (11), a metallized grid (12) and optionally an antireflective (AR) overcoating; and, the bottom surface (10') of the semiconductor wafer substrate (10) is provided with a highly reflecting coating which may comprise a metal coating (14) or a combined dielectric/metal coating (17).

Abstract: A method for producing a processed polymeric sheet to be adhesively secured to a cover to form a seal, the sheet having properties such that the seal does not have branching peel defects when it is separated. A polymeric sheet is formed from a source of polymeric material, and at least one side of the polymeric sheet is coated with silicone. The polymeric sheet is further processed while implementing a static neutralization method to substantially eliminate electrostatic discharge across the polymeric sheet during such further fabrication, producing a processed polymeric sheet. Preferably the polymeric material is selected from the group consisting of polyethylene, polystyrene, polyester, polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene, acrylics, acrylonitrile, polycarbonates, polyimide, and cellulosics.
Abstract: A bidirectional communications system is provided for sending signals along a cable in a forward path from a central location to a plurality of remote receiver locations and for sending return signals along the same cable in a reverse path from the remote receiver locations to the central location. The communications system includes a plurality of taps placed along the cable for splitting the signals to be sent to the remote receiver locations, and a radio frequency sensed switch placed at each of the plurality of taps for sensing the return signals so as to turn on the reverse path when the return signals are present and to turn off the reverse path when no return signals are present.
Abstract: A system for providing control of redundant components is presented. The system includes two resource modules. The resource module is connected to a data bus, but only the active resource module has control of the data bus. Two call processor systems are connected to the resource modules, and the active call processor is connected to the active resource module. A call processor connection client operating on the resource module transmits a connection request message to the call processor systems. A call processor connection server operating on the call processor system can receive the connection request message and assign the resource module active status.
Abstract: In a switching platform of a telecommunications system, fault testing is automatically performed during operation of the switching platform to identify components to be tested, perform testing and if a fail condition occures, perform localization to isolate a source of the fail condition. In another mode of testing, an off-line component is identified and the test procedure automatically performs testing and if a fail condition occurs, a localization procedure is automatically initiated to identify a source of the fail condition. A configuration database containing status information on components of the switching platform can be periodically searched by the fault test procedure to identify components to be tested. The configuration database can also be searched to identify replacement components in response to an alarm identifying a faulty component generated by the fault test procedure.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a ceramic alloy composite composition having the alloy spontaneously infiltrated into the ceramic, with the preferred ceramic alloy composite composition being a Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 /TiN/Cu-Ti composite composition and a method for forming the ceramic alloy composite composition.
Abstract: The present invention provides high service temperature sealant and adhesive compositions which contain a functionalized selectively hydrogenated block copolymer of a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon and a conjugated diene to which has been grafted at least 4% by weight of an acid compound or its derivative wherein substantially all of the acid compound or its derivative is grafted to the block copolymer in the conjugated diene blocks. The present invention also contemplates a stable emulsion comprising the above polymer, water and less than 1 part per 100 of the emulsion of a surfactant.

Abstract: A new and distinct cultivar of Clematis plant named `Alblo`, characterized by its upright and dense plant form; vigorous growth habit; dark green leaves; long flowering period; and numerous, showy lavender blue flowers.
Abstract: A new miniature pot rose plant which has abundant champagne-colored flowers and attractive foliage. The variety successfully propagates from softwood cuttings and is suitable for year round production in commercial glasshouses. This new and distinct variety has shown to be uniform and stable in the resulting generations from asexual propagation.
Abstract: A new miniature rose plant which has abundant flowers and attractive foliage. The variety successfully propagates from softwood cuttings and is suitable for year round production in commerical glasshouses. This new and distinct variety has shown to be uniform and stable in the resulting generations from asexual propagation.
Abstract: A new floribunda rose plant which has abundant, non-fading, salmon-orange flowers and attractive foliage. The variety successfully propagates from softwood cuttings and is suitable for year round production in commercial glasshouses. This new and distinct variety has shown to be uniform and stable in the resulting generations from asexual propagation.
Abstract: A new and distinct variety of Hybrid Tea rose plant is provided that abundantly and nearly continuously forms attractive double flowers which are pink striped with white. The plant is well suited for cut flower production in the greenhouse. This blossom coloration is believed to be unique for greenhouse roses. The buds are large and ovate in configuration. The flowers exhibit a good vase life and possess petals that detach cleanly. The plant exhibits a bushy to upright growth habit, forms long straight stems and straight peduncles and forms vigorous vegetation. Additionally, the plant is resistant to diseases when grown under greenhouse conditions.
