The system includes an electrically controlled valve at each cylinder normally operated by an electronic controller but manually lockable in an open position if there is a circuit failure so the operator can control the implement from the tractor selective control valve (SCV). Hydraulic hoses with quick disconnects compatible with both the tractor SCV connections and the main electrohydraulic valve on the tractor are connected to the tractor valve for normal automatic operation but can be easily rerouted to the SCV connections for control by the SCV when the cylinder valves are manually locked in the open position.

Abstract: An extensive torsional force exerted on a vehicle body frame due to an operation of blade lift cylinders can be avoided. Determination is made to identify an occurrence condition which causes a torsional force on a vehicle body frame due to an operation of the blade lift cylinders 9. If a condition which causes a torsional force is identified, pressure oil supplied to the blade lift cylinders 9 through a lift control valve 26 is interrupted, thereby stopping the operation of the blade lift cylinders 9. Alternatively, the operation speed of the blade lift cylinders 9 may be reduced by limiting the flow rate of pressure oil supplied to the blade lift cylinders 9.

Abstract: A vibratory drill head for use with a drill stand apparatus. The eccentric cams are mounted on parallel drive shafts which are powered by hydraulic motors. The hydraulic motors cause the drive shafts to spin in opposite directions. The counter-rotating eccentric cams eliminate horizontal vibration and maximize vertical vibration. The vibratory drill head is mounted to a drill shaft such as a sample tube. When the vibrating drill shaft is lowered into the soil, the vibrations allow the sample tube to pierce the soil to collect the sample. The minimization of horizontal vibration produces accurate core samples.

Abstract: A subterranean drilling assembly for linear and nonlinear drilling. A downhole motor-based bottomhole assembly with a bit deflection device includes a torque compensation device and is secured to the drill string via a swivel assembly to permit independent rotation of the string and the bottomhole assembly. In the case of a drill pipe string, the string may be rotated continuously during both linear and nonlinear drilling to reduce drag. In the case of a tubing string, the bottomhole assembly is rotated by the torque compensation device during straight drilling. In both cases, the torque compensation device is employed to adjust TFO for nonlinear drilling when the bottomhole assembly is not rotated. In an alternative embodiment, a torque-sensitive clutch is employed in lieu of the torque compensation device to provide rotational orientation to, and rotation of, the bottomhole assembly.

Abstract: A rotary drill bit comprises a bit body having a leading face and a gauge region, cutting elements mounted on the bit body, fluid channels extending outwardly across the leading face towards the gauge region, and nozzles for supplying fluid to the channels. At the outer end of each alternate channel, in the gauge region, is an outwardly facing junk slot which extends across only a part of the width of the channel, and a bearing surface which extends across the other part of the channel and bears against a wall of the borehole being drilled. In the channel, inwardly of the bearing surface, is an opening into an enclosed passage which passes internally through the bit body to an outlet. The bearing surfaces at the end of the channels increase the peripheral bearing surface area of the drill bit, thus improving stability, but fluid can still escape from all parts of each channel.

Abstract: A flightless rock auger For drilling postholes through rock without the use of hydraulic pressure. The rock auger has a plurality of teeth extending downwardly at a selected angle from the edge of a cylinder connected to a quick connect shaft. The rock auger is utilized for drilling through rock and used in combination with a conventional flighted auger used for drilling postholes in dirt and clay. During a posthole drilling operation, the rock auger is substituted for the flighted auger as needed for drilling through and remove rock or other hard material such as concrete fron the posthole. The rock auger is designed for use at very low revolutions per minute and utilizes only the weight of the auger and shaft and does not require any additional hydraulic pressure for cutting a circular hole through the rock and forming a plug which is to be lodged in the cavity of the rock auger cylinder to be removed from the posthole.

  • Patent number: 6129166
Abstract: A four-wheeled-electromotive cart includes a single motor and a direct axle driving mechanism for driving the axle of left and right front wheels by means of the motor. The single electric motor would cause no rotation speed difference between the left and right front wheels and hence constantly permits a smooth linear movement of the electromotive cart. The direct axle driving mechanism includes a relay shaft connected to the output shaft of the electric motor, a small-diameter bevel gear mounted on a lower end of the relay shaft, and a large-diameter bevel gear engaging with the small-diameter bevel gear. The front-wheel axle is spline-connected to the large-diameter bevel gear so as to be driven by the motor via the direct axle driving mechanism. Thus, the electromotive cart is allowed to smoothly start moving without sudden jolts or shocks caused by start of the motor rotation.
