Patent number: 6128825Abstract: A combination gas drying and reservoir apparatus includes a reservoir, a membrane dryer disposed inside the reservoir and a control scheme that reduces the amount of gas lost as sweep gas from the dryer. The reservoir has an inlet flange that receives moisture laden gas from a compressor, an outlet flange from which dried gas discharges to a pneumatic system and a purge flange. The dryer includes a vessel encasing a membrane unit between its inlet and outlet ends. A purge port of the vessel communicates with the purge flange to form a purge channel. The inlet end of the vessel is connected to the inlet flange from which it receives the moisture laden gas. The moisture laden gas then flows into the membrane unit. Sweep gas that has permeated through membranes flows from a sweep space defined between the vessel and the membrane unit to the purge channel. Dried gas flows out of the membrane unit through the outlet end of the vessel into the reservoir.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1997Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Assignee: Westinghouse Air Brake CompanyInventor: Brian L. Patent number: 6128826Abstract: A combination drying unit has a towel roll rotatably held within a housing. By activation of a switch, a motor drives a drive roller that has an idler roller biased thereagainst for advancing the paper towel stream through a first opening of the housing. A blower is also disposed within the housing and blows a stream of air through at least one second opening on the housing. A sensor activates the motor and the blower. A sensor detects the presence of a towel stream and deactivates the motor until this sensor no longer detects the paper towel stream. Another sensor detects the absence of a towel stream, deactivates the motor, and increases the length of operation of the blower upon activation of the switch. This sensor also illuminates a service light indicating either a jam condition or an out of paper condition.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1999Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Inventor: Joe M. Robinson

Patent number: 6128835Abstract: A self adjusting frame for footwear comprises a strap slideably passing through a plurality of connectors spaced apart and adjacent to the sole, the strap passing around the heel of the footwear and having its two ends connected to the footwear. Lacing crosses over the footwear upper, with the lacing slideably engaging the strap so that when the lacing is tightened the strap is likewise drawn tight. The lacing and strap combination thereby secures footwear to a foot about substantially the periphery of the foot, and further self adjusts to develop differently oriented foot securing force vectors for differently shaped feet. Footwear comprises lacing and a strap passing through a plurality of connectors spaced apart around a shoe, with the lacing slideably engaging the strap. As the lacing is tightened the strap is thereby drawn tight. The footwear is thus secured to a foot about substantially the periphery of the foot.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1999Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Assignee: Mark ThatcherInventors: Brett D. Patent number: 6128859Abstract: A mechanically interlocked belt type weatherstrip provides a seal between the upper portion of a door and the lower portion a window. The weatherstrip comprises three individual components: a cover, a body and a sealing lip. These components may be either extruded or molded depending particularly upon the configurations of their terminal portions. All of the components may be one of a wide variety of black flexible plastic or elastomeric materials. However, because each of the components is separate, they can be manufactured of different materials and of different colors to provide specifically desired properties. The weatherstrip is formed by snapping the body and the cover together which holds the sealing lip securely in place between the cover and the body. The weatherstrip thus allows versatility of the selection of the separate components to meet the individual style and functional needs of a particular motor vehicle design.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1998Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Assignee: GenCorp. The inner cylindrical wall is formed of a transparent material, e.g., glass or reinforced plastic. The enclosed annular volume is partially filled with a body of sea water that includes fish and marine mammal animals and other aquatic plants. The observatory further includes a carousel or platform supported on a tower located along a longitudinal axis of the observatory. An outer diameter of the carousel substantially abuts the inner cylindrical wall of the observatory. The carousel is accessible to participants when located at a first or upper position above the enclosed annular volume of water. A lift mechanism moves the carousel from the first, upper position to a second, lower position within the enclosed annular volume of water.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1999Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Assignee: SeaVenture, a Nevada Limited Liability CompanyInventor: George D. Patent number: 6128864Abstract: An arch for a ceiling structure having a first vertical wall stud and a second vertical wall stud. The arch includes an arcuate center section having opposed ends and an arcuate under surface with a first radius of curvature. The arcuate center section is sized and configured such that the opposed ends thereof abut respective ones of the first and second wall studs. The arch further includes a first and second arcuate side section attached to the center section and respective ones of the first and second vertical wall studs. Each of the first and second side sections has an arcuate under surface with a second radius of curvature less than the first radius of curvature. Accordingly, the first and second side sections create a continuous transition between the under surface of the arcuate center section and respective ones of the first and second vertical wall studs.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1999Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Inventors: Michael A. Patent number: 6128865Abstract: A fine mesh screen structure is mounted along a wall in the path of a flow of liquid to divide and split larger size liquid drops into much smaller droplets which are dispersed without agglomeration. In a preferred embodiment a series of support angle brackets are spaced along the length of a sloped roof end around the perimeter of the building. Support bars extend outwardly from the brackets to hold the mesh screen in the path of rainwater falling from the roof. The support bars may hold the mesh at an acute downward angle several inches below the roof to provide sufficient momentum for the drops to be forced through the mesh for size reduction. In another embodiment, the screen may position along an internal wall within a cooling tower in the path of water distributions to similarly reduce the size of water droplets which can be more effective for the cooling function.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1999Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Inventor: Michael W. Patent number: 6128867Abstract: A ground anchor 20 with stabilizer cap 26 secures above ground objects, such as premanufactured buildings 50, during storms, high winds or ground tremors. The ground anchor has an anchor shaft 22 which is inserted into the ground and at least one auger blade 24 attached to the lower end of the anchor shaft. The auger blade engages the ground and forcibly draws the anchor shaft downwardly into the ground as the anchor shaft is rotated by an installation driver. The circular stabilizer cap 26, having a diameter greater than the auger blade, is mounted concentric to and normal to the upper end of the anchor shaft. Rigidly attached to the stabilizer cap is a skirt 30. The skirt rotates in unison with the anchor shaft, and engages and enters into the undisturbed ground outside the hole made in the ground by the auger blade. A tie down strap 62 connects a winch mount 36, attached to the top of the stabilizer cap, to the premanufactured building.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 1999Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Inventor: Charles J. Patent number: 6128871Abstract: A muntin bar clip includes a contoured body that is shaped to contact the interior of top, bottom and opposing side walls of the muntin bar, and a head that is rotatably attached to the body. The end of the body to which the head is attached is narrowed, to accommodate the rotation of the head without drawing the body from the muntin bar. The body includes projections that extend upwardly and downwardly, and contact the top and bottom walls of the muntin bar. The head includes an L-shaped end, with an upwardly extending wall and a bottom wall. A downwardly extending extension connects to the bottom wall opposite the upwardly extending wall. The extension, which rotatably connects to the body, is separated from the upwardly extending wall by the width of the bottom wall, which is approximately one-half the width of a spacer.
