  • Patent number: 6155009
Abstract: A low cost, reusable, easily installed and removed, locking security system and method for protecting the glass in windows and doors. The bottom panel of the preferred embodiment is installed from the outside of the building against the bottom part of a glass window or door with at least one locking-pin suction cup. The top panel or panels are then rotated upwardly away from the bottom panel and secured successively against the upper part of the glass with cord-release suction cups which are individually pressed into place for best adhesion. Removal of the system is accomplished by unlocking the padlock on each locking-pin suction cup, and raising the bottom panel to reveal release cords attached to suction cups behind the It next adjacent upper panel. A downward force then applied to each of the exposed ends of the release cords, breaks the gripping connection between the associated suction cup and the protected glass.

  • Patent number: 6155022
Abstract: A semi-automatic shielding panel removal and installation system for supportless dasher board systems. A U-channel runs along the length of a dasher board for holding in place (by cam means) a shielding panel. The U-channel is divided into two portions; a fixed portion is mounted to the frame of the dasher board, and a movable portion is able to be lifted off of a stringer by an actuator device. During normal use of the dasher board system (i.e. during a hockey game), the cam means holds the shielding panel snugly within the U-channel portions. When it is desired to remove the panel, a motor-driven lifting device is pivotably attached to the movable portion of the U-channel and actuated. The movable portion of the U-channel is lifted vertically, thus lifting the panel out of and away from the fixed portion of the U-channel. When the top portion of the dasher board has been cleared, the U-channel is rotated by 90 degrees so the panel may be slid out and loaded onto a skid or other storage means.

Abstract: By taking into account the deviation between a desired value, determined from a model for a secondary-air mass flow and an actual value of the secondary-air mass flow, detected by an airflow sensor, a correction value is obtained. From the correction value, together with a main-air mass flow that is present in an intake tract of the internal combustion engine and a pilot control value for an air/fuel ratio, a correction factor for correcting an injection duration is derived.

Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide an exhaust gas purifying system for an internal combustion engine in which the rise of the temperature of an HC adsorbent is adequately retarded to improve the purification of HC at the start of the engine. In an exhaust system of the internal combustion engine, there are provided a three-way catalyst provided in the downstream side of an exhaust manifold, an adsorbent-catalyst provided under the floor of an automotive vehicle and containing at least zeolite in its composition, and a catalyst provided in the downstream side of the adsorbent-catalyst. In particular, the heat capacity of an exhaust gas passage which connects between the three-way catalyst and the adsorbent-catalyst is increased greater than the heat capacity of the exhaust manifold. More particularly, the thickness of a wall of the exhaust gas passage is greater than that of the exhaust manifold. A substrate, a partition, or a muffler is provided across the exhaust gas passage.

  • Patent number: 6155050
Abstract: An engine control system for protecting a turbocharger of an internal combustion engine from an overspeed condition occurring as a result of a failure of the turbocharger wastegate device. In one embodiment of the invention, sensors provide signals for engine speed, ambient pressure and boost pressure between the turbocharger and the engine intake. Correction factors are added to the boost pressure and ambient pressure signals, and a turbocharger pressure ratio is calculated from these signals. A reduced fueling table maps turbocharger pressure ratio and engine speed to reduced fueling signal values. An engine control computer utilizes a nominal fueling table that maps engine speed and boost pressure to nominal fueling signal values. The control computer also includes a decision module that selects the lesser of the nominal fueling signal values and the reduced fueling signal values and provides the selected value to the engine fueling system.

  • Patent number: 6155051
Abstract: A method and system are described for heating natural gas in a station, such as a City Gate station. Natural gas from the field is generally transported via supply line at high pressure to the various distribution networks necessary for delivering the gas. However, before the natural gas can enter these distribution networks its pressure must be reduced to a usable level. City Gate stations employing pressure reducing (JT) valves are usually built for this purpose. The present invention provides a system and method for heating the natural gas, without combustion of the natural gas, by relying on the pre-existing pressure of the gas in the supply line along with particular equipment to provide heat to the gas passing through the station.

  • Patent number: 6155052
Abstract: A method of operating a power generation system is provided. The system includes a turbine, a regenerative heat exchanger, a boiler, and a superheater. The turbine receives a stream of first working fluid and expands the first working fluid to produce power. The regenerative heat exchanger receives a stream of the expanded first working fluid from the turbine and a stream of second working fluid, for example from the RHE or DCSS of a Kalina type system. The exchanger transfers heat from the expanded first working fluid to the second working fluid to heat the second working fluid and condense the expanded first working fluid. The boiler receives and vaporizes a stream of the condensed first working fluid. The superheater receives and superheats the vaporized stream of first working fluid and the heated stream of second working fluid to form the stream of first working fluid.
