  • Patent number: 6171039
Abstract: A product and method for preventing a connector from rotating when a mating connector is attached to, or detached from, the connector. When a nut on the connector is tightened, a washer is compressed in a groove in a panel to which the connector is attached. Edges on the outer perimeter of the washer press against the edges of the groove, thus preventing the washer from rotating in relation to the panel having the connector. A portion of the washer's cutout presses against flat regions on the connector and, in conjunction with the groove in the panel, prevent the connector from rotating when attaching or detaching cables.

  • Patent number: 6171052
Abstract: The present invention pertains to the cooling of a honeycomb seal (2), which is arranged in a carrier ring (4), with vertical (2.2) and horizontal (2.1) honeycomb openings. To achieve this, the support ring (4) of the honeycomb seal (2) is provided with cooling air grooves (5) and tangentially arranged cooling holes (6), so that the cooling air (7) is fed homogeneously from the outer annular chamber (8) to the honeycomb seal (2) and can escape via the open honeycomb structure (2.2). Intense cooling action of the honeycomb seal (2), which is subject to high thermal stress, is generated as a result. Furthermore, corrosive process gas is kept extensively away from the honeycomb seal (2). At the same time, the sealing effect of the rotor blade labyrinth seal is improved by the cooling air flow (7) and the rotor blade leak flow (11) crossing each other or being directed in opposite directions.

  • Patent number: 6171056
Abstract: A technique for providing a signal representative of blade vortex interaction (BVI) noise for a multi-blade rotorcraft. The fluid (air) pressure at one, two, or more predetermined locations on a rotor blade is measured during at least one predetermined azimuthal segment of blade rotation during operation to provide respective pressure measurements. The pressure measurements are processed to provide a signal for use as a control variable in a control system for the active control of BVI noise. The pressure measurements are made within 10% blade chord length of the blade leading edge and preferably two or more are made between 65% and 95% of blade radial-length. The pressure measurements are filtered and the band of retained frequencies is between 20 and 48 times the rotor rotation frequency. An algorithm operative over a determined blade frequency range optimizes the signal for control use.

Abstract: A method for controlling or regulating a compressor 4 that can be switched on and off on demand, wherein a control unit 6 that switches the compressor 4 on and off is provided with the compressor. In a method of this type, it must be ensured that the compressor 4 is not damaged due to overheating. This is attained due to the fact that the control unit 6 operates the compressor 4 continuously during a regulating process until a limiting value is reached, and that said control unit operates the compressor in a cyclic manner once the limiting value is reached. This method makes it possible to complete regulating processes even if a critical limiting value is already reached.

  • Patent number: 6171075
Abstract: The invention relates to a sequential control system for two-cylinder thick medium pumps whose delivery cylinders (1, 1′) are actuated hydraulically by two drive cylinders (5, 5′) in opposing cycles. A pipe shunt (3) is provided inside a material feed container and is connected at the inlet side alternatively to the apertures (2, 2′) of the delivery cylinders (1, 1′) and at the outlet side to a pump line (4). The drive cylinders (5, 5′) are each connected at one end to a different connection pint of a reversing pump (6) to form a closed hydraulic circuit (11, 11′) and at their outer ends via an oscillating oil line (12) hydraulically to one another. To effect switching of the pipe shunt (3), pressure oil is taken off directly from the hydraulic lines (11, 11′) leading from the reversing pump (6) to the drive cylinders (5, 5′).

  • Patent number: 6171080
Abstract: For an immersed pump having a suction port directly immersed in a liquid for operation, the present invention provides a pump that eliminates the need to seal a rotating shaft with a shaft sealing apparatus and that reduces the effect on individual pump sections of a) the thrust of the rotating shaft effected by the rotation of an impeller and b) the weight of a motor acting in the same direction, thereby preventing defects in the pump. To achieve this object, this invention provides an immersed pump configured in such a way that an impeller 7 is driven and rotated by a motor 2 to draw a liquid from a suction port 4A into a pump housing 3A and eject it from an ejection port 5. The suction port 4A is provided at the lower end of a body frame 1 or on the outer circumference of the upper end of the housing 3A, while the ejection port 5 is provided at the lower end of the housing 3A.

  • Patent number: 6171081
Abstract: A fuel pump assembly is capable of improving follow-up ability of a push rod relative to an eccentric cam by increasing a spring force of a push rod spring, without increasing a size of the fuel pump assembly. The fuel pump assembly comprises a lower pump body and an upper pump body. A pump diaphragm clamped between the lower pump body and the upper pump body defines a pump chamber and an operation chamber. A diaphragm rod is integrally mounted on the pump diaphragm and is slidably supported on the lower pump body. The push rod is supported for movement along a longitudinal direction of the diaphragm rod. The push rod is movably supported within a push rod guide hole opened downwardly in the lower pump body and has a lower end extended downwardly from the lower pump body. The push rod spring is disposed within the push rod guide hole in compressed fashion and is arranged on the outer periphery of the diaphragm rod.

  • Patent number: 6171082
Abstract: A peristaltic pumping mechanism is provided with a non-permeable peristaltic circuit comprising two strips of thin metal laser bonded at their edges to form a tube. In one embodiment, the non-permeable tubing takes the form of a continuous loop having input and output ports. In another embodiment, the tubing is open and generally U-shaped. In still another embodiment, a dual-tube circuit is provided, wherein a central, metal tube is disposed within an outer elastomeric tube having an inner diameter larger than the outer dimension of the metal tube. The elastomeric tube supports the metal tube only at the ends of the circuit, enabling the metal tube to “float” within the elastomeric tube.

  • Patent number: 6171083
Abstract: The invention relates to a piston pump with a piston, which is guided so that the piston can move axially in a liner that has been inserted into a pump housing and is driven into a reciprocating stroke motion by means of a cam that is driven to rotate. The invention uses a liner that is manufactured as an injection-molded plastic part. The plastic liner has advantages with regard to manufacture, damping behavior when there are pressure changes, and noise generation. Furthermore, the invention proposes affixing a filter integral with the liner when the liner is injection molded.

  • Patent number: 6171086
Abstract: A scroll compressor is provided with a pressure equalization groove in the base of one of the scroll members. The pressure equalization groove communicates between the compression chambers at an intermediate pressure. Thus, should one of the two compression chambers be at higher pressure than the other, pressure is equalized. The invention eliminates mixing losses which would otherwise occur when two chambers of differing pressures communicate with each other or at discharge. Vibration and noise are also reduced.
