Publication number: 20010010999Abstract: The present invention is a wafer polishing apparatus with a device that detects the polishing end according to a change in rotation resistance of a wafer during polishing. The wafer polishing apparatus comprises a head body and a carrier which are connected with each other by a connecting bar which is provided with a strain gage, and determines strain in a horizontal direction of the connecting bar by the strain gage so as to determine a rotation torque of the carrier, whereby accurately detects the polishing end. Since a retainer ring is mounted to the outer periphery of the carrier via an O ring, the impact at contacting of the wafer with the retainer ring can be absorbed by the O ring, thus the wafer is prevented from damage. Because the retainer ring is mounted to the carrier without a gap, the outer periphery of the wafer is enclosed by the retainer ring, and the wafer can be polished in a state where its center is held on the central axis of the carrier.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 9, 2001Publication date: August 2, 2001Inventor: Minoru Numoto

Publication number: 20010011002Abstract: The wafer edge processing unit may be a stand alone unit or may be incorporated in existing grinding machines. The processing unit employs a plurality of tapes which are coated with differing grades of grit to sequentially polish the edge of a rotating wafer or to remove an edge bead from a processed wafer or the other substrate. The tapes are mounted on a backing block which is rotated to move the tapes from a line contact with the top bevel of the wafer to a line contact with the bottom bevel of the wafer. Fresh surfaces of the tapes are presented to successive wafers by rotating the spools on which the tapes are mounted. The wafer may be moved in small increments along a Y-axis and/or an X-axis relative to a tape during polishing to improve the polishing operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2000Publication date: August 2, 2001Inventor: Robert E. Publication number: 20010011013Abstract: An integrated receiver with channel selection and image rejection substantially implemented on a single CMOS integrated circuit is described. A receiver front end provides programable attenuation and a programable gain low noise amplifier. Frequency conversion circuitry advantageously uses LC filters integrated onto the substrate in conjunction with image reject mixers to provide sufficient image frequency rejection. Filter tuning and inductor Q compensation over temperature are performed on chip. The filters utilize multi track spiral inductors. The filters are tuned using local oscillators to tune a substitute filter, and frequency scaling during filter component values to those of the filter being tuned. In conjunction with filtering, frequency planning provides additional image rejection. The advantageous choice of local oscillator signal generation methods on chip is by PLL out of band local oscillation and by direct synthesis for in band local oscillator.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2001Publication date: August 2, 2001Inventors: Pieter Vorenkamp, Klaas Bult, Frank Carr

Publication number: 20010011042Abstract: A system for converting readily available standard off the shelf golf club parts into a interchangeable golf club system. A conversion system consists of a head insert which can be glued into the hosel of a standard golf club head. A shaft insert having a central flange is insertable and glueable into place on a standard shaft of a golf club. The shaft insert and the head insert forming a quick connect to attach the shaft to the golf club head. Through the use of different club heads representing the full range of woods, irons, and putter, each having a head insert pre-installed, the club may have emulating any club by attaching the desired club head. A shaft length adjustment is made by a cooperating pin installed in the top of the shaft and slidable within a number of slots provided in a telescoping sleeve slidable over the shaft.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2001Publication date: August 2, 2001Inventor: Gary Roark

Publication number: 20010011047Abstract: A ratchet tensioner has a plunger retractably mounted in a housing and urged by a spring in a direction to project outward from the housing, and a ratchet pawl pivotally mounted on the housing and having a first prong normally engaged with one of ratchet teeth formed on the plunger so as to prevent backward motion of the plunger. The ratchet pawl also has a second prong spaced a predetermined distance from the first prong in the backward direction of the plunger and engageable with a second rack tooth to release meshing engagement between the first prong and the rack tooth when the plunger is moved forward due to a slack of a timing chain used with the tensioner. In order to maintain a predetermined amount of backlash between the first prong and the rack teeth, the rack teeth have a height greater than a half pitch of the ratchet teeth.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 2, 2001Publication date: August 2, 2001Inventor: Tadasu Suzuki
