  • Patent number: 6286396
Abstract: A ratchet wrench consisting of a socket driver head pivoting or fixed at one end, an elongated handle in the middle, and a pivoting extension shaft having an extended handle grip at the opposite end. The wrench is designed to install and tighten nuts onto machine bolts and break loose and remove nuts from machine bolts wherein the nut is in a recessed or confined area making it hard to reach with a conventional fixed-handle ratchet wrench. The extended handle grip is generally U-shaped with a linear section perpendicular to and substantially centered about the end of the extension shaft. The U-shaped handle of the extension shaft extends the user's reach when applying the torque necessary to install or remove a nut located in a cramped work space. In addition, the U-shaped handle includes a magnet for retrieving articles that are out of the reach of the user.

  • Patent number: 6286407
Abstract: Method for the rapid cleaning of produce with minimal loss, and apparatus to perform the method. The cleaning method taught in the present application enables the rapid cleaning of produce by removing an extraneous portion therefrom, by separating the extraneous portion from the body of the produce, and by urging the cleaned produce towards a collection device. These steps are attainable, using the principles of the present invention, by a working using only one motion and one hand. To perform the method, a novel aperture knife is taught which, rendered attachable to an agricultural processing implement by an integral attachment device, enables one-handed operation by a user. The knife includes a generally planar knife body in operative combination with an elevated blade which not only enables the severing of the extraneous portion from the produce body, but separates the extraneous portion therefrom, and guides the cleaned produce body towards a collection device, for instance a picking box.

  • Patent number: 6286410
Abstract: The invention features a self-contained enclosure-plus-enclosed contexture and the implementation thereof in a multi-phase launching system, according to which the waterborne first phase entails naturally (buoyantly) induced motion, and at least the airborne second phase entails artificially (technologically) induced motion. Typical inventive practice provides a launch canister which is exteriorly configured to be hydrodynamically efficient while moving buoyantly upward in response to hydrostatic pressure, and which has a chamber for stowing an air vehicle. The inventive vehicle-stowing canister is released underwater so as to be buoyantly propelled upward and into the air, at which time the air vehicle is mechanistically propelled (e.g., boosted), in response to which the canister becomes disjointed cooperatively with the uncoupling of the air vehicle from the canister. The air vehicle continues to propulsively ascend, the canister's nose cone and main body gravitationally falling to the water below.

  • Patent number: 6286411
Abstract: A machine gun and associated armament apparatus, including an ammunition box for supplying belted ammunition to the gun, are exteriorly supported on a landing gear sponsor tow plate of a helicopter, adjacent a cabin area gunner's window, using a specially designed pintle support structure. The machine gun is horizontally rotatable about a vertical azimuth rotation axis which is forwardly tilted and substantially parallel to the similarly tilted rotor mast axis. The gun's upward firing elevation angle is limited to 1.5 degrees when the gun is pointed forwardly. However, due to the forward tilting of the gun's azimuth rotation axis, its maximum upward firing elevation angle automatically increases as the gun is swung rearwardly, thereby desirably increasing the gun's firing range to the side and rear of the helicopter while at the same time automatically maintaining the bullet path of the forwardly pointed gun safely below the forwardly drooped operational rotor tip path.

  • Patent number: 6286412
Abstract: An electrohydraulic valve control system which enables simultaneous flow and pressure control for operating an implement or other work element associated with a work machine through the use of a single control valve design, the present control system comparing the actual valve output flow rate of the hydraulic fluid flowing through the valve to a desired valve output flow rate and thereafter modifying the input flow rate to the valve based upon the difference between the actual valve output flow rate and the desired valve output flow rate. The desired valve output flow rate is determined based upon the actual load pressure being exerted against the implement or work element and the operator input signal generated by the operator upon activation of an operator input control mechanism used to control the operation of the implement or work element.

  • Patent number: 6286431
Abstract: An open loop magnetic field minesweeping system, with a small and light weight body to be towed through seawater by a helicopter or other vehicle, hydrodynamic control surfaces on the body, a single sweep cable extending a substantial distance from the body with a first electrode in cable, sleeve or sock form attached to the end of the sweep cable, and a second electrode provided on the body as part of its skin. A rectifier and transformer on the body convert AC power fed to the towed body from the towing vehicle, to DC power applied to the first electrode. The rectifier and transformer are encapsulated by a thin waterproof layer and directly exposed to the sea water for cooling through the layer. The body may have a winch to deploy and retrieve the first electrode. Acoustic transducers may be mounted on or within the body.

Abstract: A small caliber shell having armor piercing capacity and extremely high precision. The shell includes a hollow metal shell casing defining an outer shape of the shell. The shell casing has a conical front tip and a rear end, the shell casing comprising an inner surface. An elongate shell core made of an extremely hard and heavy material is centered around a longitudinal axis of the shell between a first bearing surface on the inner surface in the conical front tip of the shell casing and a second bearing surface on the inner surface of the rear of the shell casing and is axially centered inside the shell casing. A support part is arranged inside the shell casing and surrounds at least a very rearmost portion of the shell core for supporting the shell core. A ballast material in the shell casing between the support part and an interior wall of the shell casing holds the support part in place.
