  • Patent number: 6338203
Abstract: Disclosed is a hand held radius alignment tool with an adjustable pointing device, which is pivotally mounted at one end of a single u-shaped rectangular casing for finding the rotational and desired angle from 0 to 90 degrees on the radius alignment tool. The radius alignment tool is positioned on the new piece of tubing and is allowed to slide up and down and rotate around the axis of the tubing. The technician will align the pointing device's centerline to the centerline on an existing piece of tubing while sliding the radius alignment tool up and down and rotating the tool on the new tubing. Once the tubing alignment tool and its pointing device are properly aligned with the existing tubing's centerline, the technician will use the alignment-indexing marks on the tubing's grooved radius block (which is installed in the radius alignment tool) to show where to pencil mark the new tubing. The technician will mark the starting position and the orientation position on the tubing.

  • Patent number: 6338216
Abstract: An improved artist and display easel that is secured from the top by use of a crossbar that interlocks with the easel to firmly hold a standard canvas or display up to twenty-four inches in height. The easel is preferably made of a flexible material so that it can be repeatedly bent down the centerline of weakness. The centerline fold creates tension on both side panels causing outward pressure. The top crossbar holds the easel body securely in place by interlocking notches. The top crossbar also holds the top of a display or canvas securely to the easel body. There are seven different height settings that correspond to standard canvas sizes. In addition, a bottom crossbar can be interlocked to the easel body to raise the base height of a display or canvas. • Patent number: 6338234
Abstract: The invention is a method of overlaying a plastic film material on a shipping container blank whereby all surfaces and edges are sealed. A container subsequently made from the blank is rendered highly water resistant. The film material is applied to both sides of the blank and severed from the supply source. The covered blank is then heated above the softening point of the film. The film becomes bonded to the surfaces of the blank and sags around the edges and into any openings so that the film on the two sides of the blank come into contact and are sealed to each other. The edges and any slits and cutouts are then trimmed, as by a die cutter, while preserving the seals along the edges. Containers made by the process can generally be recycled, in contrast to wax or resin impregnated corrugated board.

Abstract: A jewelry chain is formed from a plurality of coil links, with each link having a coil diameter, a first end and a second end. With the exception of the ends of the chain, which are typically secured to the mating clasp sections, each of the links in at least a portion of the body section are intertwined with two or more links. The number of coils capable of being intertwined is predominantly governed by the coil diameter and the number of turns in each coil.

  • Patent number: 6338239
Abstract: A turbine system and method for power generation has an electric generator, a reformer, a cooler, a fuel compressor, an air compressor, a combustor, a turbine, an evaporator. The reformer reforms fuel containing a mixture of hydrocarbon gas and steam to produce hydrogen and carbon dioxide. To enhance reformation, the reformation is carried out under pressure at 7 ata or less. To aid compression, the cooler cools the reformed fuel before the compressor compresses the reformed fuel. The combustor burns air compressed by the air compressor, which is driven by the turbine, and the reformed fuel received from the fuel compressor to generate hot gas. The turbine receives the hot gas from the combustor and drives the generator to generate electricity. The reformer receives the hot gas discharged from the turbine as a heat source to heat the fuel and chemically reform the fuel.

  • Patent number: 6338244
Abstract: A method and apparatus for purifying an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine includes an ammonia generating catalyst for generating ammonia from nitrogen oxides contained in the exhaust gas to be purified, and a nitrogen oxide reducing catalyst downstream of the ammonia generating catalyst, for reduction of nitrogen oxides contained in the exhaust gas to be purified. Generated ammonia is used as the reducing agent. A nitrogen oxide adsorption catalyst is arranged upstream of the ammonia generating catalyst, or the ammonia generating catalyst is arranged in an exhaust pipe branch which pertains to only a part of several separately controllable internal-combustion sources. One or more additional exhaust pipe branches assigned to the other internal-combustion sources and lead to the nitrogen oxide reducing catalyst, while bypassing the ammonia generating catalyst.

  • Patent number: 6338246
Abstract: An exhaust passage control valve has a valve element of a spiral shape mounted on a valve seat portion of a housing through which exhaust gases from an engine pass. The valve element is urged by a valve spring in a direction of closing the valve. A spring constant of the valve spring is kept low without enlarging the valve spring, and there can be obtained opening and closing characteristics in that the valve opens at a stretch when an exhaust-gas pressure has reached a predetermined value. As the valve spring, a helical torsion spring having a coiled cylindrical body portion is used. Arm portions on both ends of a coiled cylindrical body portion are engaged with a pair of spring receiving members. The spring receiving members are disposed in the housing on circumferentially opposite sides of the valve seat portions. The arm portion are engaged with the spring receiving members so as to be slidable in a longitudinal direction of the arm portions.

  • Patent number: 6338247
Abstract: A hydraulic vehicle drive, having a closed hydraulic circuit consists of a variable displacement pump and one or several hydraulic motors. The variable displacement pump is driven by a diesel engine. During the braking or pushing operation of the vehicle, the hydraulic motor becomes a pump and drives the variable displacement pump which, in turn, acts as a motor upon the diesel engine and acts to accelerate the latter. Thus, the intended braking effect prevents the danger that the diesel engine will reach non-permissible high revolutions per unit time, which is particularly dangerous for diesel engines with turbochargers. In order to prevent non-permissible high revolutions per unit time, a pressure regulator acting as a throttle is placed in the return line between the hydraulic motor and the variable displacement pump. The valve throttles the rate of flow when the pressure of the hydraulic fluid in the line exceeds a certain desired value during the braking operation.
