Abstract: A device for centering tools, such as saw blades, rotary cutters and the like which are circular and which have bores of different sizes, on processing machines such that they can be positioned about their center axes. The device includes a mount adapted to be attached to such a machine, and a slide coupled to the mount and adapted to move relative to the mount. A first bearing is coupled to the mount, and a second and third bearing are coupled to the slide and mounted for movement on the slide selectively toward or away from the first bearing. The first, second and third bearings are configured to engage the bore of the blade such that the bore is centered on the machine and the blade is rotatable about its center axis.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a retractable rule assembly that includes a housing assembly and a reel rotatably mounted in the housing assembly. An elongated blade formed of a ribbon of metal is mounted on the reel. One end of the blade is connected to the reel. The blade is constructed and arranged with respect to the housing assembly to extend from a position tangential to the reel outwardly through a spaced opening in the housing assembly. A coil spring that is formed of a ribbon of metal has a construction and arrangement between the housing assembly and the reel to rotate the reel in the housing assembly in a direction to wind the elongated blade about the reel when the blade is extending outwardly of the housing assembly opening. The blade has a “normal” concavo-convex cross-sectional configuration when extended and has a flat cross-sectional configuration when it is wound about the reel so that the wound reel is disposed about the reel in an abutting volute coil formation.

Abstract: A method and system which exterminates mound building ants (Hymenoptera) such as imported red fire ants in situ their mound by changing a carbon dioxide gas concentration of an ambient atmosphere within the mound through a ground probe. This gas based method and system is novel due to its speed of extermination and due to the lack of toxic chemical residues left in the soil or environment. The method and system is suitable for use by homeowners or commercial enterprises and renders extermination of imported red fire ants economical and efficient. Treatment of one mound with the system taught in this patent disclosure is expected to cost as little as one fourth as much as use of currently prevailing methods.

Abstract: A process for revegatating land includes the steps of performing a soil analysis, creating seed-bearing pellets according to soil needs, and disbursing the seed-bearing pellets over the land to be revegatated. Such seed-bearing pellets are created by mixing nutrients and ground organic material. The mixture is saturated with steam and pressed through a die and cut into individual pellets. Seeds are adhered onto each pellet, and activated charcoal may be fixed to the outer surface of the pellet to neutralize herbicide applied to the land to be revegatated. A process for creating fuel pellets is also provided which includes grinding and mixing waste wood products, and adding oil to the mixture. This mixture is injected with steam and pressed through a die. The pressed mixture is then cut into cloverleaf configured pellets.

Abstract: A tree support holds the tree in the desired orientation until its root system can hold the tree in that orientation without the need for additional support. The tree support includes a collar and three or more legs. Positioning screws carried by the collar advance radially inward toward the trunk of the tree to engage the trunk and thereby hold the collar in place. The outer ends of the positioning screws are capped with ornamental medallions. The medallions can carry any design or, for example, initials or information about the tree. One embodiment of leg for the tree stand, is a telescoping, rigid leg that pushes against movement of the tree away from normal orientation. The other embodiment of the leg uses tension on wires connected to anchor screws inserted into the ground to hold the tree upright.

Abstract: The present invention improves the start-up characteristics of a fuel gas generating apparatus for a fuel cell comprising a reformer. In a fuel gas generating apparatus 1 for a fuel cell comprising a vaporizer 22 that generates a fuel vapor by vaporizing a raw liquid fuel, a reformer 11 that generates a reforming gas that includes hydrogen from the raw fuel gas that has been partially oxidized by adding reforming air to the fuel vapor generated by the vaporizer 22, and a CO eliminator 13 that generates a fuel gas having carbon monoxide eliminated by adding a CO eliminating air to the reforming gas generated by the reformer 11, the supplied amount of the reforming air during the warm-up of the fuel gas generating apparatus for a fuel cell is larger than the supplied amount of reforming air during idle operation after completion of the warm-up.

Abstract: An apparatus for opening and closing a door remotely includes a remote radio control, electrically operated strike plate, and a door opening assembly attached to the door. A double acting piston is attached to a fixture on the floor. An actuator rod coupling assembly allows the door to move freely in a normal manner when the apparatus is deactivated. The coupling assembly has a detent which will release the piston rod in case of a sudden excessive force on the door that would otherwise damage the apparatus. The piston is a double acting piston that includes pressure switches to deactivate the pump when the pressure exceeds a threshold to prevent damage to the assembly. The mechanism can use potable water as the hydraulic fluid to eliminate contamination and fire hazards. The electrical system uses 12 volt DC operating voltages to eliminate electric shock.

Abstract: A window opening and closing assembly capable of controlling an opening angle of the window effectively is disclosed. The assembly comprises a base with a groove along a longitudinal direction thereof, a slider inserted in the groove, an arm rotatably mounted on the base, a handle rotatably placed at a portion of the base and having a worm gear at an end thereof, a worm wheel meshing with the worm gear, and a switch for controlling the location of the slider. Wherein the slider has an angled side inwardly angled at a side of the first sliding portion thereof and the arm has a straight side for restricting a rotation angle thereof. Thus, an opening angle of a window can be controlled by an operation of the straight side and angled side.
