Abstract: A protective glove, such as a firefighter's glove has a back, a front defining a palm, a thumb, and four fingers. An outer shell of the protective glove comprises an expanse of a radiant reflective material, such as an aluminized fabric, and an expanse of a material defining a gripping surface, such as a sueded leather. The expanses are configured and are sewn together so that the radiant reflective material covers the back of the glove and covers the back, side, and end surfaces of the thumb and four fingers of the glove and so that the material defining the gripping surface covers the palm and the front surfaces of the thumb and four fingers. A separate piece of the radiant reflective material is sewn to the expanses so as to overlap a tip portion of the material defining the gripping surface, on the front of the thumb, at the tip of the thumb.

Abstract: A protective headgear comprising a headband and two shield plates. In a back region, the headband and the shield plate extend down behind the user's ear towards a bottom region on a user's head. The shield plate has a bottom protective rim that is designed to cup underneath a user's skull to shield the base of the user's skull. In addition, both shield plates have a small gap between them so that they wrap around the user's head. Additional components can also be added to this headgear. For example, this headgear can also include a terry cloth in a front region to gather sweat or moisture from a user's forehead. In addition, two ear flaps can also be attached to the headgear to cover a user's ears. These earflaps are designed to keep the user warm in the winter. In addition, this headgear can be alternately opened and closed via a releaseable fastener such as a hook and loop fastener.

Abstract: Disclosed is an eye protection device for the enclosure of eyeglasses therein, such device having a resilient cushion member which extends rearwardly therefrom to form an upper portion and a lower portion and first and second sides, such device having lens openings provided in the cushion member, with the wearer's eyeglasses fitting within grooves and a bridge slot formed within such cushion member, such device having hard side members attached to the first and second sides of the cushion member, and with such resilient cushion member's upper and lower portions and first and second sides contacting the wearer's face.

Abstract: A stopper device for selectively blocking a drain to the passage of water. The drain is provided with an inlet, an outlet and a substantially cylindrical throat between said inlet and outlet. A controllably expandable bladder is located within the cylindrical throat which is sized and positioned such that when the bladder is compressed, the drain is selectively blocked to the passage of water and when the bladder is extended, the drain is selectively opened to the passage of water.

Abstract: A knockdown portable toilet cabana comprises substantially identical panels forming opposite, vertical side walls and a rear wall, and a front panel having an access opening with a door covering the opening and hingedly connected to the front panel. The lower edges of the panels are engaged with a floor forming base and a covering roof is arranged at the upper ends of the panels. The lower edges of the panels and the corresponding peripheral edges of the base are provided with interconnecting channels and tongues for releaseably attaching, and for detaching the panels and the base. The upper edges of the panels and the corresponding edges of the roof are provided with releaseable connectors for attaching and detaching the roof from the panels. Elongated channel members frictionally engage and releaseably connect together the adjacent vertical edges of the panels. A toilet waste holding tank is removably positioned within the cabana.

Abstract: An air massage system of air jets for injecting pressurized air into bathtubs. Each air jet has a hollow body component and an inlet fitting between which is housed a unidirectional fluid flow device. The outlet end of the jet is mounted directly to the hidden surface of the bathtub wall over an air flow opening in the wall, by means of a flange on the hollow body with recesses for holding an adhesive for securing the air jet to the bathtub wall. The flange has an annular seat with blades extending radially outwardly from the seat defining recesses for holding adhesive. The flange has holes between the blades for introducing the adhesive in the recesses. The inlet ends of the air jets are connected to air distribution piping. The air jet has an annular seal between the upstream side of the mounting flange and the inlet fitting.

The extendable object is preferably a water fixture amenity, such as a concealable compartment or a raisable seat. Preferably, the motive power system is a hydraulic system and includes a cylinder, a power source, and controls. The cylinder has a piston adapted for moving the compartment with respect to the fixture. The power source is connected to the cylinder and is adapted to extend the piston and move the compartment. The power source includes a water line in fluid communication with a cylinder volume. The controls are adapted for regulating movement of the piston by the power source. A method of moving a water fixture amenity, including the concealable compartment and the raisable seat, generally comprises two steps.

Abstract: The invention is a portable sink with a lid that is capable of being connected to an existing water supply, such as an outdoor hose or faucet, such that running water can be provided inside the sink in an outdoor environment. The sink preferably has features that make it easy to use in any outdoor environment, such as folding legs, an adjustable spigot, a spray nozzle, a storage drawer, a shelf, a large drain, a funnel, a strainer for the drain, cutting boards, baskets, etc. The lid also enables the sink to be used as a container for storing items during travel. In this respect, the sink can be made of an insulating material so that it can double as an ice chest when desired. A pressurized water tank can be provided which is preferably sized to fit inside the sink and adapted to supply water where no other water supply is available.

Abstract: A faucet thermal monitoring system for verifying the temperature of water being delivered through a faucet. The faucet thermal monitoring system includes a housing which is couplable to a spout of a faucet and thermally conductive such that heat is conducted between water flowing through the spout and the housing and a liquid crystal temperature panel coupled to the housing providing a visual indication of the temperature of the water flowing through the tap.

Abstract: Furniture frames, such as futon frames, are movable between bed configurations and sofa configurations. Furniture frame embodiments according to the invention provide a more level, continuous and secure sleep surface than currently available. The central gap present in many futon frames, for example, is eliminated, as is a fourth cross rail. Manufacturing costs are reduced, and reliability is improved. Additionally, furniture frame embodiments include at least one topple member that engages the top of a depending backrest side or side and does not put pressure on a hole accommodating a pivot pin connecting the backrest panel and seat panel. Mechanical advantage is improved. Further, a working end of the depending backrest side can be produced with a single cut, eliminating the need for multiple cuts and/or attachment of separate pieces, thereby lowering manufacturing costs. Corresponding methods provide similar advantages.

Abstract: A connecting device for a sofa bed includes a first connecting member with opposite first and second end portions, and a second connecting member with a rear end portion that is pivoted to the second end portion and that is provided with a spring-loaded pawl unit. A fixed mounting plate is disposed below the first and second connecting members. A pivotable linking plate unit has an upper end pivoted to the first end portion, and a lower end pivoted to the mounting plate such that the first connecting member is movable forward and rearward relative to the mounting plate. The second connecting member is pivotable relative to the first connecting member in a first direction so as to enable the pawl unit to engage one of the ratchet teeth in order to retain the second connecting member at a certain angularposition relative to the first connecting member.

Abstract: An interactive security blanket for children comprises two fabric sheets sewn together to provide a blanket body. One of the sheets preferably has a colorful children's pattern or design, while the other is provided in a complimentary solid color. Additionally, a plurality of spaced-apart ribbon loops, or “tags,” are attached to the four edges of the blanket body, and extend out therefrom. The lengths of ribbon comprising the tags are looped from and back into the seam between the pieces of fleece, and are firmly attached at that seam. The tags are provided in a variety of colors, patterns, and textures, e.g., they may be wide, thin, silky, textured, bright-colored, pastel, shiny, solid, and/or provided with fabric prints suitable for children. The tags function as a means for providing sensory stimulation for children via the children's passive (ocular) or active (tactile) interaction with the pillow or blanket.

This non-binding solution provides the fitted sheet portion which overlies a mattress. The flat sheet portion covers the fitted sheet portion, coupling to a right side, a left side and a lower end of the fitted sheet portion. The comforter portion overlies the flat sheet portion and couples to a lower end, a right side and a left side of the flat sheet portion. The comforter portion, the flat sheet portion, and the fitted sheet portion securely couple at a predetermined position between the head end and the foot end to form a opening between each portion for free and easy movement of the flat sheet portion and the comforter portion away from the fitted sheet portion.

Abstract: A labor grip mechanism on each side of a main frame of a birthing bed, each labor grip mechanism having a post with a free end and a hand grip mounted on the free end. A first mounting construction is provided for slidably supporting the post for movement between a first position wherein the hand grip is stowed underneath the patient support and a second position wherein the hand grip is oriented wholly out from underneath the patient support. A second mounting construction is provided for supporting the post for rotational movement between the second position wherein the hand grip is also oriented in a plane beneath the plane of the patient support and a fourth position wherein the hand grip is oriented in a plane above the plane of the patient support. A hand grip positioning device is provided for facilitating the rotational movement only when the post is in the aforesaid second or third position.

Abstract: A cantilevered mobile bed/chair apparatus for safely transferring a patient from and to a hospital type bed comprises three hinged together segments forming back, seat and foot platforms operating in conjunction with a four wheeled, rectangular base. The hinged together platforms convert from a fully adjustable chair mode to a bed mode by a first jack located beneath the seat platform. The platforms are raised and lowered by a second jack associated with a telescoping tower attached to an E frame. The telescoping tower is mounted vertically from one side of the rectangular base, and when extended, has a height greater than a hospital bed. The E frame, which supports the platforms, is cantilevered horizontally from the top portion of the telescoping tower, and the height thereof is controlled by the second jack mounted together with the bottom portion of the telescoping tower, to the wheeled base. The side edges of the platforms are beveled or angled downward.

Abstract: A rescue apparatus includes at least one flexible support member and a plurality of handles and an attachment member extending outwardly therefrom. The support member includes a mesh portion formed with a plurality of openings that together form a open area that constitutes a major portion of the support area of the support member. The rescue apparatus is flexible, foldable, and collapsible, and may be stored during periods of non-use in a flexible container. The rescue apparatus is used by positioning it underneath a person such that the rescue apparatus underlies and at least partially wraps around the person being rescued. The handles are then lifted, allowing water or debris to drain or fall away from the person being rescued to reduce the lifting effort required.

Abstract: A head rest and alarm for dozing in a sitting position at a table or desktop. In a first aspect of the invention, the head rest and alarm are comprised of a base, a standard extending upwardly from the base and a head support attached to an upper portion of the base and an audible alarm. In the operable position, the head rest is placed on the surface of a table and a user in a sitting position rests his head in a downward facing or side facing position on the head support. The audible alarm has a timer which is selectively adjustable to set a wake-up time of the alarm. In an alternate embodiment, the head rest and alarm further comprises the options of a tape or disk player, a clock radio and earphone jack.

Abstract: A painter's tool providing multiple functions is disclosed for a painter's use in preparing a surface for painting, for opening containers, and for cleaning utensils. The tool includes a blade connected to a handle, with the distal end of the blade having a beveled edge bounded by a first squared corner and a second pointed corner. The blade includes a first side having a plurality of teeth along the first side, with the first edge extending outwardly at an angle from the handle toward the squared corner, thereby allowing ergonomic gripping of the handle while cleaning a brush or gouging with a blade corner. The blade includes an arcuate second side having an inwardly curved mid-portion for cleaning a paint roller, the curved mid-portion being bounded by two opposed notches recessed into the second side of the blade. The second side further includes a projection proximal the handle end of the blade.

Abstract: A tool for coaxial cables including a body with a nose portion having a slot therein of a size suitable for receiving a connector of a coaxial cable therein, an arm pivotally connected to the body and movable between a first position outwardly of the body and a second position adjacent the body, a crimper member slidably positioned in the body and having an end facing the slot, and a stripper member mounted within the body. The crimper member is movable into the slot when the arm is moved from the first position to the second position. The arm has a knife member affixed thereto so as to face a sharp edge of a knife member affixed to a body. The stripper member includes a plug member slidably positioned in a channel within the body and having a protrusion extending outwardly of the body and a knife element affixed to the plug member so as to have an edge extending across an interior opening of the stripper member.

Abstract: A method and system for isolating water pressure from appliance water connections provides protection from structural damage due to bursting of flexible hoses that connect an appliance to a rigid plumbing water supply. The system includes at least one electrically controllable valve, a connection for coupling the valve to a water supply connection, a connection for attachment to the appliance water supply hoses and an interface for receiving a signal from the appliance control system. An appliance may provide an interface connection for coupling to a control connection on the system, or the system may be connected to existing electrical terminals within a standard appliance that control internal solenoid valves. The system and method isolate water pressure from the flexible hoses supplying water to the appliance, automatically shutting off the supply connections when the appliance does not require water flow.

Abstract: A side brush assembly for a vehicle cleaning apparatus includes upper and lower side support members having upper and lower support arms attached thereto. An outer breakaway end portion is pivotally attached to the lower support arm and a control bracket having a slot therein is attached to the outer end of the breakaway end portion. A rotatable brush mounted on a brush shaft has an upper end of the brush shaft supported by mounting means attached to the upper support arm and a lower end of the brush shaft received in the slot of the control bracket so that the lower end may move inwardly and outwardly in a controlled fashion in the slot.

Abstract: A lint roller assembly is disclosed having an elongated housing with a handle and a lint roller support section longitudinally adjacent the handle. The lint roller support section is substantially cylindrical in shape and has a radially recessed and circumferentially extending channel formed between its ends. This channel has a longitudinal length less than the longitudinal length of the lint roller support section. The lint roller assembly further includes a lint roller having a tubular cylindrical core and an adhesive sheet roll wound about the core. The core has a longitudinal length and inside diameter dimensioned to fit into the channel such that the lint roller is retained to the lint roller support section. The longitudinal length of the core, furthermore, is less than the longitudinal length of the adhesive roll.

Abstract: A back washing device for scrubbing the back of a user. The back washing device includes a housing having a bottom wall, a top wall, a back wall, pair of lateral side walls and a front wall such that a lumen is defined in the housing. The front wall has a plurality of apertures therein. A securing device removably secures the housing to the wall. A scrubbing member is securely attached to and generally covers an outer surface of the front wall. A container, having liquid soap therein, is positioned in the lumen. A hose member is fluidly coupled to the container and abuts an inside surface of the front wall. The hose member has a plurality of apertures therein. A pumping device pumps the liquid soap through the hose member so that the liquid soap enters the scrubbing member. The pumping device is securely attached to the container and extends outward of the housing through the top wall.

Abstract: Disclosed is a cleaning implement in the form of a sleeve-type self-wringing mop. In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, the cleaning implement includes a shaft, a mop of a liquid absorbent material disposed at one end, and a wringer. The wringer includes a wringing sleeve that comprises a handle that is rotatably relative to the sleeve over at least a portion of the axial range of travel of the sleeve, and at least one volute. The volute has a generally helicoid surface that cooperates with a drive that is fixed with respect to the shaft, the volute and drive cooperating in the manner of a cam and cam follower. A user may advance the wringer upon grasping the handle and axially translating the handle relative to the shaft. The camming interaction between the volute and drive causes rotation of the wringing sleeve relative to the shaft to cause liquid to be expelled from the mop.

Abstract: A bath brush assembly is detachably mountable to a wall of a shower or bathtub. The bath brush assembly includes a frame and a bore extending therethrough. A plurality of bristles are attached to the frame and extend into the bore such that a stroke victim or handicapped person may clean one of their appendages by moving their appendage against the bristles.

Abstract: A wiper blade is proposed that is used to clean windows of motor vehicles. The wiper blade (10) has an elongated, rubber-elastic wiper strip (14), which is retained, substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis, on a support element (30) that has a spring-elastic retaining rail (12) elongated in bandlike fashion and a connection device (16) disposed on the retaining rail, in which the connection device (16) is disposed on the band face (32), remote from the window, on the middle portion of the retaining rail (12) and serves to connect the wiper blade (10) to a driven wiper arm that can be stressed toward the window. Advantages in terms of both production and use are obtained if the connection device (16), made from a plastic, is formed directly and immovably onto the retaining rail.

Abstract: The invention relates to a windshield wiper (10) for wiping windows, in particular of motor vehicles, having a connection piece (14) which can be connected to a wiper arm (12) and which is connected to a flat bar (16), and having a wiper strip (18) which is connected to the flat bar (16) and can be pressed against the window to be wiped. It proposed that the flat bar (16) has at least one joint (20, 26, 28), whose pivot axis (21) is oriented transversely to the longitudinal extent of the flat bar (16) and in the direction of its width.

Abstract: A vacuum hose storage unit for insertion within a wall is described that includes a housing with a nozzle/retractor compartment and a hose storage compartment. An opening in the hose storage compartment is in communication with an external conduit leading to a remote vacuum source. Initially, the housing can be used to connect a separately stored hose to the vacuum source by positioning an inlet connector in the nozzle/retractor compartment, and connecting an internal conduit from the inlet connector to the opening in the hose compartment. Subsequently, the internal conduit can be replaced with a hose that is stored in the hose storage compartment and a retractor to extend the hose through the nozzle/retractor compartment. One part of the nozzle/retractor compartment can be covered with a wall covering, with the retractor being inserted into another part of the nozzle/retractor compartment and then moved behind the wall covering.

Abstract: A floor scrubber (10) is disclosed including a drive lug (62) for removably connecting a scrubbing member (64) to a drive (60) and having a trough for receipt and catching of solution for passage to the surface. The mount (58) for the drive (60) is biased by a spring (67) to pivot relative to a linkage plate (46) in turn pivotably mounted to the chassis (12) at an acute angle to the forward movement direction. The vacuum assembly (92) is sandwiched in a socket (100) formed in the bottom wall of a recovery tank (90) by a mount (106) to deaden the sound generated thereby and to allow air communication is inside of the socket (100) but generally preventing entry of solution therein. The squeegee assembly (152) is biased by a gas spring (150) to engage the surface at a constant force independent of the pivotal position of the squeegee mount (148).

Abstract: The invention relates to a door stop for motor vehicle doors which is integrated with a door hinge. The door hinge is constructed of two hinge halves which are each formed by a folded part made of sheet metal. The door hinge is also constructed of a hinge pin which pivotally connects both hinge halves to one another. The first hinge half having an essentially hat-shaped cross-section engages in-between both profile limbs of the other hinge half which is essentially u-shaped. The door stop comprises braking or holding means which are radially aligned in relation to the hinge pin axis and which intereact with stopping means, said stopping means being concentrically arranged in relation to the hinge pin axis. The door stop is essentially coaxial in relation to the hinge axis.

Abstract: A tool handle connection system and apparatus includes an elongate metal tube, and a connection member. The connection member has one attachment end thereof fitted in an end of the metal tube, and an opposite, threaded end axially projecting from the metal tube and connection member assembly. The metal tube is crimped around the attachment end of the connection member, and the threaded end of the connection member includes self-tapping screw threads and a rotation preventing member is connected to a tip portion to the threaded end after it is inserted through a broom head or the like to prevent the handle from rotating relative to the broom head once it is attached thereto. The connection member includes at least one flat region engaged by a crimped portion of the end of the elongate metal tube. The connection member preferably includes a means for reinforcing axial retention of the metal tube and a stopper means for limiting insertion of the attachment end into the metal tube.

Abstract: In a connector for the removable connection of an end of a neck strap to a pair of binoculars or similar optical device, to provide for a simple connection and disconnection with a reliable hold, the end of the strap has an attached clip incorporating two legs that can be elastically opened in a V-shape and that have inward facing holding projections on their insides, wherein a holding part with a lug is provided on the binoculars, said lug incorporating snap-in projections that extend laterally toward the outside in a manner so that the legs can be snapped onto the lug in such a way that their holding projections encompass the snap-in projections of the lug, and wherein a retention sleeve is provided, the free interior cross-section of which is dimensioned such that it can be slipped over the legs when they are in their snapped-on position, thus preventing the legs from opening.

A laminated synthetic resin film composed of low melting point resin layer having melting point of, for example, 100° C.-140° C. and high melting point resin layer having melting point of, for example, 150° C.-230° C. is fused to a surface or both surfaces of a pair of the fastener tapes with the low melting point resin layer being in contact with and opposing the fastener tape by heating with pressure. Fastener elements are mounted onto a side edge of the fastener tape and the laminated synthetic resin film is formed so as to protrude outward from the side edge of the fastener tape and a center point of coupling of the fastener elements.

Abstract: According to the fastener chain, method and apparatus for forming ends thereof, coil-shaped fastener elements as linear fastener elements are attached and sewed to side edge portions of a pair of fastener tapes with sewing yarns as fixing yarns while a core thread is inserted through the fastener elements. The coil-shaped fastener elements are cut off at leg portions, each of which is in contact with the fastener tape, at ends of the fastener elements, so that cut end portions are formed. These cut end portions are pushed inward of the side edge portions, and then, the leg portions and inverted portions thereof are fused to the fastener tapes by heating. As a result, a form of each end of the fastener elements is stabilized, so that the resultant slide fastener is good in safety.

Abstract: A coupling device has a shackle, a hook connected to the shackle, and a safety clamp device surrounding the shackle. The safety clamp device has a central reinforced rib, a flap bar, a slot, a plurality of clamp teeth, and a flexible plate. The flexible plate has a curved portion and a guide recess. The flap bar is inserted in the slot of the safety clamp device.

Abstract: A buckle is formed of a base having two side walls, a cover for accommodating and supporting the base, and having a tongue insertion hole formed at one end side of the two side walls of the base, and guide portions provided on each of the two side walls to protrude inwardly therefrom for leading a tongue to be inserted through the tongue insertion hole. The guide portions lead a tip of the tongue smoothly without blocking even when the tongue is inserted from the tongue insertion hole at a maximum slant posture defined by the tongue insertion hole relative to the buckle. The tongue can be smoothly inserted into the buckle to improve the manipulation feeling in inserting the tongue.

Abstract: A shoelace anglet having a front opening at one end thereof, a rounded head at an opposite end thereof, an end slot in the rounded head, a split extended between the end slot and the front opening, at least one protruding portion disposed at a first side of the split, and at least one recessed portion disposed at a second side of the split and adapted to receive the at least one protruding portion respectively.

Abstract: Provided are a sample warper and a warping method where data regarding yarn diameters of counts are preliminarily input and stored, counts of warping yarns as well as pattern data for warping are input, a conveyor belt feed pitch per revolution of a yarn introduction means is calculated with a warping width, the number of warping yarns, and a warping length (the number of warping windings), and the conveyor belt feed pitch per revolution of the yarn introduction means is controlled according to the counts (yarn thicknesses or yarn diameters). Accordingly, a surface of the yarns wound on a warper drum is finished in a flat state without undulation irrespective of the counts, thereby solving troubles in the next weaving step.
