When a loaded optical disk is a DVD-ROM, the feedback resistor switching circuit reduces a gain of the operational amplifier and the variable current source selects a large current (of, for example, 1 mA) as a common bias current supplied to the differential input transistors. When the loaded optical disk is a DVD-RAM with low reflectance and low recording/reproducing speed, the feedback resistor switching circuit enhances the gain of the operational amplifier and the variable current source selects a small current (of, for example, 0.5 mA) as the common bias current.

Abstract: A detection system is provided. In one embodiment a silicon Compton recoil electron detector uses the Compton double scatter technique with recoil electron tracking to detect medium energy gamma rays from 0.05 to 10 MeV. Two detector layers are required, a silicon microstrip hodoscope and a calorimeter. The incoming photon Compton scatters in the hodoscope. The second scatter layer is the calorimeter where the scattered gamma ray is totally absorbed. The recoil electron in the hodoscope is tracked through several detector planes until it stops. The x and y position signals from the first two planes of the electron track determine the direction of the recoil electron while the energy loss from all planes determines the energy of the recoil electron. In another embodiment of the invention, the Compton double scatter technique with recoil electron tracking is used to detect x-rays from 300 to 5,000 keV.

One acceleration mode convergence electrostatic lens is formed in a range of the first, the second and the third electrodes, and the other acceleration mode convergence electrostatic lens is formed in a range of the third, the fourth and the fifth electrodes. Since energy of an ion beam passing through a position where convex lens action is produced is large, it is possible to maintain the characteristic that the chromatic aberration coefficient of the acceleration electrostatic lens is small. By increasing number of positions performing convex lens action, it is possible to obtain the acceleration mode convergence with a low lens voltage.

In the apparatus for pyroelectric lithography, a pyroelectric emitter or a ferroelectric emitter is patterned using a mask and it is then heated. Abstract: The oil supply with an orientation toward requirements in a transmission is implemented by a system of control and regulating modules. Mentioned in particular, here is a combined control and regulating module that is electronically driven and mechanically regulates the pressure. The controlled variable is a coil current that increases proportionally as the pressure increases. One disadvantage is that, in the case of a system failure, no coil current flows and the pressure is also minimal. In the present invention, by contrast, a maximum pressure is provided in the hydraulics even without current. This ensures that during a system failure that the operation of control elements that can only be shifted using high pressure will continue. This is implemented via a combined control and regulating module. The control unit is a magnet system that moves the regulating module and a sliding valve (14).

Abstract: A high frequency magnetic material ceramic composition including materials having the general formula (Ca, A)zCuxB8-x-zO12 is prepared. A represents Y and/or at least one element selected from the rare earth elements excluding Y; B represents metal elements which are different from A and include at least Fe and V. x has a value of 0.002<x<0.2; and z is a value of 3.0<z≦3.09. The Ca/V ratio is 2.0<Ca/V≦2.4. A irreversible circuit component containing center electrodes electrically insulated from each other in a ferrite member made of the high frequency magnetic material ceramic is provided.

Abstract: A new slurry for shallow trench isolation (STI) processing in the chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) in microelectronic industry comprising an aqueous medium having an abrasive; and a compound which has a carboxylic group and an electrophilic functional group. The combination of ceria and/or titania with amino acids to obtain polishing selectivity's greater than 5:1. CMP is used for removing the excess oxide and planarizing the substrate and the trench. The silicon nitride acts as a stop layer, preventing the polishing of underlying silicon substrate.

Abstract: Polymer composites and methods of making the polymer composites are presented. A representative polymer composite includes a polymer resin and a conductive material, wherein the polymer composite is characterized by a dielectric constant greater the 200. A representative method of making the polymer composite can be broadly summarized by the following steps: providing a polymer resin and a conductive material; mixing the polymer resin and the conductive material; and forming the polymer composite, wherein the polymer composite is characterized by a dielectric constant greater than 200.

Abstract: A portable hoist primarily for mounting on the ground at a manhole or similar location for lifting a load such as a person entering the manhole includes a base with a generally Y-shape defining a rear leg and two diverging front legs for mounting on the ground with the front legs either side of the hole. A jib portion is mounted on a vertical post portion of the base and extends upwardly and forwardly therefrom to a cable guide at an upper end overlying the hole. The jib portion is formed by a tubular body extending substantially from the bottom end at the base to the upper end which is smoothly curved with a constant radius of curvature. The body is formed in two parts with one siding inside the other and of the same curvature. Each part has a straight end portion where it attaches to the base and the cable guide respectively. A winch mounting for a winch for the cable is attached to the lower portion at its upper end. The front legs are also formed similarly as two inter-fitting curved parts.
