After the whole catalyst is heated up to a temperature at which a combustion/reforming reaction can take place, the feed of air is temporarily stopped, the supply of fuel gas is started, next air is supplied while controlling the flow rate thereof so that temperatures in the catalyst do not exceed the temperature that the catalyst can withstand.

Abstract: A strap detector is used with an automatic strapping machine. The strap detector includes a strap detector mounting bracket mounted to the automatic strapping machine, and a pivot block attached to the mounting bracket. The pivot block has an aperture formed therein. A shaft is positioned in the pivot block aperture, and a finger is mounted to a free end of the shaft. A guide block is positioned along the shaft and spaced from the free end, and a sensor is operatively coupled to the detector mounting bracket proximal the guide block. The finger is engaged by sealed strapping material and, when the strapping material is properly sealed, movement of the strapping head away from the articles moves the guide block into a position to change a state of the sensor.

Abstract: A plurality of annular collars are provided formed from collar halves. The collar halves are at least partially separable from one another to allow the collar halves to be slipped into and around a groove in a grooved roller for a reel-type cutting unit. The collar halves can then be abutted and secured together to substantially fill in the roller groove. When collars are placed into the last two or three grooves on each end of a grooved roller, a non-shouldered grooved roller is thereby converted into a shouldered grooved roller without having to remove and replace one set of rollers with another.

Abstract: A system for harvester speed control includes a header position sensor connected to a processor. If the header is lowered during crop cutting, harvester speed is immediately decreased to prevent a sudden increase in material downstream of the feeder house input. The percentage speed reduction preferably is approximately equal to the estimated percentage increase in material for the given height change as set manually by the operator, calculated during a brief calibration process, or derived utilizing an adaptive learning technique. Signals from a throughput transducer and from harvesting quality transducers such as grain loss transducers are communicated to the processor to determine desired harvester speed.

Abstract: A ground engaging vegetation mower has a mower deck with a horizontally mounted blade shaft. Cutting blades, having a U-shaped cross section, are mounted symmetrically about the blade shaft for rotation therewith. The cutting blades rotate within sufficient proximity to the mower deck housing so as to provide scissor-like cutting action of the vegetation. The mounting of the cutting blades on the shaft is such that contact with an obstruction causes the cutting blades to slip about the blade shaft. A plurality of cutting blades can be selectively attached to the blade shaft to adjust the cutting width of the mower deck.
