Abstract: A rotary heat sealing system heat seals top and bottom webs to each other around discrete articles held in predetermined alignments and spacings between the webs. The rotary heat sealing system comprises a sealing station at which the heat sealing occurs, and a tensioning station upstream of the sealing station. The tensioning station produces a tension in the top and bottom webs and the articles by wrapping them in a reverse bend so as to maintain the predetermined alignments and spacings of the articles as they enter the sealing station. The sealing station includes an anvil and a heating die with a heat sealing grid and pockets between circumferential rails. The articles enter the pockets, and the webs are sealed to each other at areas corresponding to the heat sealing grid. A force mechanism applies a predetermined force between the heating die rails and the anvil.

Abstract: A method and system for controlling hydrocarbon injection into engine exhaust to reduce NOx. The method and system inject the hydrocarbon into the engine exhaust in accordance with detection of a light-off event. The light-off event can be detected because when there is this hydrocarbon-O2 reaction, such reaction is an exothermic reaction and thus heat is generated and given off. The generation of such heat may be detected by here measuring the difference in temperature across the catalyst. The peak in NOx conversion efficiency temperature changes with age. However, because the peak in NOx conversion efficiency temperature occurs at substantially the same temperature light-off, a determination of light-off by the system and method enables adjustment in the hydrocarbon injection level for maximum NOx reduction efficiency.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and a method for the production of microparticles and nanoparticles of materials that can be dissolved. The system and method of the present invention provide quicker freezing times, which in turn produces a more uniform distribution of particle sizes, smaller particles, particles with increased porosity and a more intimate mixing of the particle components. The system and method of the present invention also produce particles with greater surface area than conventional methods. One form of the present invention provides a method for the preparation of particles. An effective ingredient is mixed with water, one or more solvents, or a combination thereof, and the resulting mixture is sprayed through an insulating nozzle located at or below the level of a cryogenic liquid. The spray generates frozen particles.

Abstract: A controlled compressor apparatus for idle-stopping vehicles that permits precise variable displacement control of a compressor and reduces power consumption when the compressor is motor-driven. The apparatus includes a battery-powered motor and a control unit for selecting the engine or the motor to drive the compressor and for controlling the displacement of the compressor. A current detector detects the magnitude of a current supplied to the motor. The control unit stores a relationship between the displacement and the current and controls the displacement based on the current detected by the current detector.

Abstract: Device for enhancing efficiency of air-conditioner, including a water reservoir, a water level sensor, a controller and a water-injecting section. The water reservoir receives the condensed water produced from the water exhaust of the vaporizer of the air-conditioner. The water level sensor is disposed in the reservoir for real-time sending water level signal to the controller for judging whether water should get into the water reservoir or discharge therefrom. The controller is able to detect the operation state of the compressor of the air-conditioner to activate the water-injecting section to inject water onto the heat-radiator at proper time so as to continuously decrease temperature of the heat-radiator and the air therearound and enhance efficiency of the air-conditioner and avoid load loss due to high temperature of the components of the air-conditioner after long period of operation.

Abstract: A control box kit for twinning fan coils in a heat pump or AC installation includes electro-mechanical isolation relays and auxiliary limit switches. Existing fan coil transformers are disconnected to avoid component failure due to high voltage wiring variations. A single transformer is connected to operate both systems. Isolation relays for the reversing valves and supplemental electric heaters in a heat pump system allow both heat pumps to have independent defrost cycles. The accessory transformer and isolation relays are packaged and pre-wired in a control box for easy connection in the field.
