Abstract: In order to prevent destruction of a read gate by excessive storage of charge without any addition or change to the manufacturing process, the array type X-ray detection apparatus using a direct conversion system, which directly converts irradiation X-rays to charge, provides each pixel cell 30 with a sensor section for converting X-rays to an amount of charge according to the amount of X-rays, a charge collecting electrode 3 for storing the charge generated, a read gate 6 for transferring the stored charge to an external read amplifier and a MIS diode 10 using a TFT. A clamp signal is applied to one end of the MIS diode 10. The read gate 6 and MIS diode 10 are formed in the same manufacturing process. Since the amount of charge stored in the charge collecting electrode 3 is clamped to the amount of charge corresponding to the clamp signal voltage by the MIS diode 10, the read gate is not destroyed even with excessive X-ray irradiation.

Abstract: Radiation-generating devices are disclosed that are suitable for use in a microlithography apparatus. The devices utilize multiple plasma-discharge radiation sources (e.g., capillary discharge X-ray sources) and produce a high output with a high repeat frequency while minimizing the thermal loads to which the individual radiation sources are subjected. In one embodiment, multiple radiation sources (discharge units) are coupled to a movable substrate, such as a rotary plate. The movable substrate can be controlled such that a selected one of the multiple discharge units can be moved into a discharge position and aligned along a discharge axis. The device may also include a preliminary-ionization source facing the discharge axis. Alternatively, multiple preliminary-ionization sources may be coupled to the movable substrate such that a selected one of the preliminary-ionization sources energizes the target gas in the selected discharge unit.

Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus and method for improved display of small dark structures such as in particular coronary blood vessels in digital X-ray images. A live image (S) is initially subjected to multiscale decomposition in which firstly multiple uses of low pass filtering with subsequent resolution reduction (RED), and secondly resolution increases using subsequent low pass filtration (EXP), give detailed images (D1, D2, D3, D4) of different resolution. In accordance with the first variant of the method, a mask (M) representative of the uninteresting image background is subtracted from the detailed image (D4) having the lowest degree of resolution. This ensures that the subtraction will only comprise correspondingly coarse structures with dimensions greater than the expected image motion. A further improvement can be achieved by applying a motion estimation (MOT EST) and motion compensation (MOT COMP) to the mask (M) and to the detailed image (D4) of the lowest degree of resolution.

Abstract: In an encryption system, a serial data stream is demultiplexed into a plurality N of encryptor input data streams to form a sequence of encryptor input data slices applied to an encryptor having a cascade of stages. Each stage includes a mapping function and a delay function, the mapping function performing a stage-specific direct mapping of data slice values to corresponding generally different data slice values, and the delay function applying stage-specific and generally different delays to individual symbols of data slices. Encrypted data slices generated by the last stage of the encryptor are transmitted through a transmission channel and received at a decryptor having a cascade of stages. Each decryptor stage includes an equalizing delay function and an inverse mapping function to generate output data slices from input data slices.

Abstract: A sequence of transmissions is encrypted as a set of sub-sequences, each sub-sequence having a different session key. The transmitting device determines when each new session key will take effect, and transmits this scheduled new-key-start-time to the receiving device. In a preferred embodiment, the transmitting device also transmits a prepare-new-key command to the receiving device, to provide a sufficient lead-time for the receiving device to calculate the new session key. Each new key is created using a hash function of a counter index and a set of keys that are determined during an initial key exchange session between the transmitting device and the receiving device. The counter index is incremented at each scheduled new-key-start-time, producing the new session key.

Abstract: A method for storing important information for a user in a database and securely managing the stored important information is provided. The method includes an encrypting step, a storing step, and a determining step. In the encrypting step, synchronizing information, which changes whenever at least one piece of the important information is updated, is stored in the database together with the important information and the synchronizing information is encrypted. In the storing step, the encrypted synchronizing information is distributively stored in predetermined places. In the determining step, the synchronizing information stored in the predetermined places is combined and decrypted, and it is determined whether the combined and decrypted synchronizing information is substantially identical to the synchronizing information stored in the database.

Abstract: For transmitting an information string from a source entity to a destination entity the information is encrypted through a time-sequence of encrypting keys that are each valid only in a predetermined associated time interval within the string. This allows the destination entity to decrypt the information as based on the time-sequence of encrypting keys. Furthermore the destination entity is presented with control information regarding a changeover instant between two particular encryption keys.

Abstract: A three-dimensional sound reproducing apparatus is configured by cascading a sound field effect adding unit and a crosstalk canceling unit. The sound field effect adding unit adds a predetermined three-dimensional sound field effect to an input audio signal, thereby generating audio signals respectively corresponding to left and right channels. The crosstalk canceling unit performs a calculation process on the audio signals of the two channels so that, when the audio signals are respectively generated by two loudspeakers positioned in front of a listener, the audio signals reach the left and right ears of the listener without producing crosstalk. The resulting audio signals are supplied to the loudspeakers, respectively.
