Abstract: A device comprising a pair of lower and upper bodies respectively accommodating an image scanner and a printer. The upper body is hinged at one end thereof to the lower body so that the other end thereof is allowed to move between open and close positions. A biasing mechanism is provided for biasing the upper body not to fall down toward the second body due to the weight thereof and keep it at an arbitrary position between the open and close positions. The biasing mechanism includes a spring member and applies a first biasing force to the upper body by linearly stretching the spring member. When the upper body is in the vicinity of the lower body, the biasing mechanism further generates a second biasing force to be applied to the upper body by bending the linearly stretched spring member.

Abstract: A positioning hinge for providing pivotal positioning is disclosed. The positioning hinge comprises a pivotal member, a pivotal base, a first torsion spring and a friction device. The friction device includes a positioning element and a slide-friction member, which are kept in a resilient friction contact with each other by means of a resilient mechanism. This enables the LCD display to be opened due to the pivoting action of the pivotal base under the results of resilience and frictional positioning. It is appreciated that the above features advantageously result in an appropriate reduction in the opening speed of the LCD display while at the same time obtaining a steady frictional pivotal positioning, thereby prolonging the working life of the positioning hinge.

Abstract: An attachment device has a frame with two longitudinal sides and a series of lateral guides disposed along the frame between the two sides. The guides define openings through which a strap extends. When the strap is inserted into the device, it is placed through the openings and over guides. The guides also hold the strap in place so that the device does not slide off the strap. In the relaxed state, the attachment device maintains a serpentine configuration with peaks and valleys. When tension is applied, the device is stretched out but returns to the original serpentine configuration when the tension is removed. The shape and material help absorb the force applied to the strap and reduce its effect on the strap, to thus reduce breakage of the strap and buckles and reduce injury to the user.

The apparatus further includes a frame support block for mounting a molded part and a frame holder for pressing the molded part against the frame support block to fix the molded part thereon. The frame support block is hinged on a first axis near the cull support block. The frame holder is hinged on a second axis near the cull support block. The apparatus also includes a pressing means configured to move downward against a distal end of the frame holder to cause the frame support block and the frame holder to rotate about the first and second axes, respectively, to separate the cull from the molded part.

Abstract: This invention is directed to a method for manufacturing metal which includes a step of melting a forged material, and a step of casting a molten forged material to obtain a preform made of forged material, and a step of forging the preform made of forged material, and an apparatus therefor. The preform made of forged material comprises one or more of standardized preforms made of forged material having an approximately cylindrical form with the same cross sectional shape, but a different length. According to the present method and the present apparatus, one may produce metal products to which excellent mechanical properties are impaired by subjecting standardized preforms to the forging treatment with an improved productivity and reduced production cost.

Abstract: There are provided a method and apparatus of component mounting capable of avoiding damages caused by production operations with the component holder having debris on it. If it is determined at the detecting step of component holding condition (#104) that a component (3) is held by a component holder (14) in improper condition for mounting, the component holder (14) releases such a component (3) into the collecting box (23)(#112), and skips pick up operation at the next round of pick up station (15). The component holder (14) is then subjected to confirming whether any debris exists by using, preferably, a condition sensor (17)(#114), and the component holder (14) picks up a new component (3) (#103) if it is confirmed that no debris exists. If debris is found at the confirming step, production operations are stopped (#116), or warning is generated. After the maintenance of the component holder (14) is completed, production operations are restarted.
