Patent number: 6540187Abstract: The bracket includes an inner body having a hook on one end and arranged to slide within an outer body having a hook on one end to provide a variable bracket length. A pair of springs located between overlapping portions of the bodies biases the bracket towards its longer uncompressed length. After the bracket is mounted to a support surface, a wall of the headrail is hooked onto the hook of the inner body. The headrail is then advanced to compress the springs and shorten the bracket length so that an opposite wall of the headrail can catch on the hook of the outer body. Removing the compression force on the springs biases the bracket toward its longer length to capture the second wall of the headrail with the hook of the outer body. By this arrangement, an easily applied pushing force installs and attaches the mounting bracket to the headrail.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2001Date of Patent: April 1, 2003Inventor: Godwin Carter

Patent number: 6540234Abstract: A gasket (10; 40; 50; 70) comprises a sealing member which forms a closed loop extending around a hole. The sealing member is formed from resilient metal and has a transverse cross section which is generally X-shaped and comprises two arms (12, 14) which project inwardly of the hole, and two arms (16, 18) which project outwardly of the hole. The inwardly projecting arms form a first seal around said hole, and the outwardly projecting arms form a second seal around said hole. Each arm extends from a junction (22) with the remainder of the gasket to a tip (24) of the arm which engages one of the bodies. Each arm has its greatest thickness at said junction (22) and its smallest thickness at a point adjacent to or at said tip (24), the arm continuously reducing in thickness between said junction and said point. The gasket can yield from the tips of the arms inwardly as the pressure on the gasket increases.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1999Date of Patent: April 1, 2003Assignee: Flexitallic Investments, Inc.Inventors: Alan William Atkinson, Stephen Peter Bond, John Robert Hoyes, Gary Briggs, Stephen Alexander Schultze, Kevin Richard Holmes, Julia Rosalind Mary Hood

Patent number: 6540236Abstract: A chuck includes a generally cylindrical body having a nose section and a tail section. A plurality of jaws are movably disposed with respect to the body to and away from the chuck's axial bore. A generally cylindrical sleeve is in driving communication with the jaws. The sleeve engages the body or the jaws by a first set of interengaged threads so that relative rotation between the first threads drives the jaws toward or away from the chuck axis. The sleeve engages the body or the jaws by a second set of interengaged threads so that relative rotation between the second threads drives the jaws toward or away from the chuck axis. The first thread set defines a first pitch so that when the jaws close, the first threads rotationally lock in the closing direction. The second thread set defines a second pitch that is higher than the first pitch so that when the jaws close, the second threads are relatively rotatable in the closing direction.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2002Date of Patent: April 1, 2003Assignee: Power Tool Holders IncorporatedInventors: William H.
