  • Patent number: 6547019
Abstract: A reserve tank for engine coolant formed by a blow molding method in which an external surface of the reserve tank is colored simultaneously with blow molding process and thus painting is unnecessary, and a straddle-type all terrain vehicle equipped with the reserve tank. The method comprises the steps of placing a thermoplastic tube, called a “parison”, between halves of an open mold, closing the mold halves, blowing the parison to expand the parison to the cavities of the mold halves, and cooling the parison to set the material, thereby forming the reserve tank. The method further comprises the steps of placing a thermoplastic film with a color which is different from that of the parison so that it covers at least one of the cavities before closing the molds, and expanding the thermoplastic film to the cavities along with the parison so that the film sticks thereto.

  • Patent number: 6547022
Abstract: A vehicle traction control apparatus and method where an amount of pressure change of braking pressure is based on the amount of acceleration slip and the wheel acceleration. When the traction control is being performed and the braking force is being increased, an upper limit pressure increase amount of braking pressure is based on the engine revolution speed, and the estimated braking pressure, so that the calculated value is smaller if the revolution speed or the estimated braking pressure is greater. The upper limit pressure increase amount of braking pressure is corrected so that it is greater if the speed reduction ratio of the transmission is smaller. If the amount of pressure change of requested braking pressure is excessively high, and the amount of increase in braking pressure needs to be limited, the amount of pressure change of braking pressure is limited to the corrected upper limit pressure increase amount.

  • Patent number: 6547030
Abstract: A positioning mechanism is provided for a moving member that moves linearly by the turning of a screw member driven by a stepping motor. A drive shaft driven to turn by the stepping motor is fitted, so that turning transmission is possible, into the screw member that screws into the moving member that is capable of moving linearly. A configuration prevents the moving member from turning together with the screw member when the screw member is turning. Origin positioning is performed, by using a stopper, by stopping the linear movement of moving member caused by driving the motor to turn in one direction. The moving member is positioned according to the turning steps of the motor in the other direction after the origin positioning. The drive shaft is fitted into the screw member via an elastic member interposed therebetween so that turning can be transmitted.

  • Patent number: 6547032
Abstract: Disclosed is a suction muffler including a muffler inlet, a muffler outlet communicating with the muffler inlet, a plurality of reservoirs defined between the muffler inlet and the muffler outlet, a plurality of small-diameter tubes adapted to allow the reservoirs to communicate sequentially with one another, and a vibration absorbing member installed on an inner wall surface of each of the reservoirs at a region where a flow of fluid sucked at a high velocity into the muffler inlet and forced to flow to the muffler outlet via the small-diameter tubes is struck against the inner wall surface, the vibration absorbing member serving to absorb vibrations generated due to pulsations of the fluid flow resulting from the striking of the fluid flow against the inner wall surface, thereby attenuating flow noises resulting from the vibrations. This suction muffler obtains an effect capable of offsetting noises generated when refrigerant gas flows are struck against inner constructions of the suction muffler.

  • Patent number: 6547034
Abstract: A pruning vehicle having characteristics specifically utilizable in an orchard having rows of trees opposite each other. The vehicle is equipped with two platforms side by side which can be adjustably located vertically and horizontally in a plane perpendicular to the direction of the vehicle's motion. Each platform is controllable by an operator standing upon the platform through foot pedals incorporated thereon. Platforms are elevated above the vehicle by lifting structures designed to keep the platforms level to the ground at all times. The platforms are connected to a frame of the vehicle at a low slung central portion of the frame for added stability. Wheels of the vehicle are of a thin disc shape. Each wheel can slice through soft surfaces such as mud to attain a firm foundation for the pruning vehicle. Fins and teeth on the wheels provide added traction. Mud deflectors on the wheels prohibit mud from climbing up too high onto or bogging down the pruning vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6547038
Abstract: For the lubrication of the cylinders in marine diesel engines, it is normal practice to supply doses of oil through non-return valves in a ring area of the cylinder in immediate connection with the passage of a piston ring. It is aimed at providing a more-or-less uniform distribution of the oil along the circumference of the cylinder. However, a considerable variation is ascertained in the wear along this area. With the invention, use is made of a high-pressure injection through atomization nozzles, so that an outspread oil mist if formed opposite the individual nozzles, which upon being influenced by the rotating scavenging air in the cylinder is made to impinge against the wall by centrifugal force, and herewith to form a substantially continuous film of oil in a ring area immediately before the passage of the piston ring. There is hereby achieved a good utilization of the lubricating oil, i.e.

  • Patent number: 6547054
Abstract: A conveyor roller having a spring loaded telescoping tubular axle with tapered hexagonal shaped ends allowing quick replacement in the side frame openings of a conveyor when the openings are worn to an oversize. The tapered hex ends also provide for a tight fit between hex ends and hex holes in the frame to lessen relative motion (rattling) between the two surfaces that causes wear and noise. The roller can be installed from either side of the conveyor because the axle is collapsible from either end.

  • Patent number: 6547055
Abstract: A reverse vending machine is configured to selectively accept bulk fed containers, the machine including an in-feed station with an in-feed door and a hopper accessible via the in-feed door, the hopper having a first mouth which is open when the in-feed door is in an open orientation and closed when the in-feed door is in a closed orientation. The in-feed door has a second mouth, which is smaller than the first mouth, and which remains open regardless of in-feed door orientation. The in-feed station thus is configured to simultaneously freely receive multiple disarrayed containers through the first mouth when the in-feed door is in the open orientation and is configured to receive containers through the second mouth when the in-feed door is in the closed orientation.

  • Patent number: 6547060
Abstract: The present invention concerns a conveying device with an endless conveyor belt, which has catches extending essentially transverse to the conveying direction. In order to further develop a previously known conveying device so that small bulk articles, which tend to stick, are reliably removed from the conveying device at an end point of the conveying device, which cannot be reached satisfactorily with the known devices for stripping, it is proposed that the catches be deepened trough-like or elevated ridge-like modifications of the conveying surface in comparison with the conveying plane, and that the catches can be completely swept by means of at least one stripper lying elastically against the conveying surface.

Abstract: A holder for an apparel belt which can be used as both a display holder and as a storage package. When used in either the display mode or the storage mode, the holder protects the belt from being scratched or otherwise physically damaged. The holder has a sleeve with an opening at one end thereof for receiving the strap of the belt, and a sleeve extension attached to the open end of the sleeve which acts as a backdrop for the exposed portion of the belt when the holder is used in its display mode and acts as a cover for the buckle when the holder is used in its storage mode. In the display mode, the holder is hung on a merchandising display rack from an orifice in the free end of the sleeve extension. The sleeve extension has a means for retaining the buckle and a portion of the belt strap outside the sleeve to expose that portion of the belt.
