Abstract: The invention is a method and apparatus for iron-making/steel-making using a modified rotary hearth furnace, that is a finisher-hearth-melter (FHM) furnace. In the method the refractory surface of the hearth is coated with carbonaceous hearth conditioners and refractory compounds, where onto said hearth is charged with pre-reduced metallized iron. The pre-reduced metallized iron is leveled, then heated until molten, and then reacted with the carbon and reducing gas burner gases until any residual iron oxide is converted to iron having a low sulfur content. Nascent slag separates from the molted iron forming carburized iron nuggets. The nuggets are cooled, and then the iron nuggets and the hearth conditioners, including the refractory compounds, are discharged onto a screen, which separate the iron nuggets from the hearth conditioner.

Abstract: The present invention provides a kit (200) for producing a high quality sushi product with uniformity and at a high rate of production. The kit (200) includes a Nigir i Sushi mold (10, 110) and a California Sushi Roll apparatus (54, 154.) In a preferred embodiment, the kit (200) includes a traditional Japanese bento box (18,20) that houses both the Nigiri Sushi mold (10, 110) and California Sushi Roll (54, 154.) The Nigiri Sushi mold (10, 110) is made up of a mold (12, 112) having several indentations (28, 128) for supporting the preferred ingredients. The Nigiri mold (12, 112) is joined with the plate (14, 114) and is placed in the bottom half of the Japanese bento box (18) to form the lower portion of the Sushi kit (200) of the present invention. The apparatus (54, 154) used to form the California Rolls sits atop an inverted Nigiri mold (12, 112) with plate (14, 114) and includes a roller sheet (56, 156) that is flexibly attached to a base plate (64, 164.

Abstract: A printer for printing a viscous material at predetermined positions forming a pattern on a substrate. The printer includes a frame, a device, mounted to the frame, having a number of perforations arranged to form the pattern, a support apparatus, coupled to the frame, that supports the substrate in a printing position beneath the device, and a material dispenser. The material dispenser has a chamber to contain the viscous material to be printed on the substrate. The chamber has an opening through which the viscous material is dispensed. The material dispenser is coupled to the frame, positioned over the device, and constructed and arranged to dispense the viscous material through the perforations in the device and onto the substrate. The material dispenser has a retraction device that prevents leakage of the viscous material from the opening after dispensing is complete. The material dispenser includes a temperature control system to maintain the temperature of the viscous material contained in the chamber.

Abstract: A printing press comprises an oscillating roller capable of rotating circumferentially and moving axially in a reciprocating manner, and does rainbow printing on a sheet, supplied from a feeder, in a printing unit. The printing press includes an oscillation width control device and an oscillation frequency control device for exercising control such that the oscillating roller moves axially in a reciprocating manner when printing is started in a state in which the axially moving motion of the oscillating roller is at a standstill. The printing press can automatically start the oscillating motion of the ink oscillating roller when printing is started from the state of the oscillating motion of the oscillating roller being stopped at the time of ink conditioning in rainbow printing, thereby decreasing the number of defective sheets and improving the ease of operation.

The job retention system is configured to receive an input corresponding to a selected portion of a print task and retrieve information corresponding to the selected portion of the print task. Preferably, the information is in a print-ready format that is configured for use by a printing device. So configured, the information can be retrieved from memory and printed by the printing device without being processed by a driver of the printing device. Additionally, the job retention system is configured to enable the selected portion of the print task to be printed without printing a non-selected portion of the print task.
