Patent number: 6574899Abstract: A combined gun rest and armrest is described which includes an armrest which is attachable to a tripod. The armrest has a pair of elongated slots into which U-shaped gun rests are inserted and are laterally adjusted to support a gun. One of the gun rests is constructed to accommodate the forearm of the gun; and the other, the stock of the gun. The lateral adjustment of the gun rests enables the positioning thereof so as to have the center of gravity of the gun aligned with the tripod connection. Upon placing the gun in the gun rests, the opening between the gun and the armrest enables the marksmen to assume the normal shooting position and provides unencumbered access to the trigger and the area surrounding the trigger. The device is constructed to be compatible with the normal physical range. However, in the cases outside the range, the gun rests may be raised or lowered accordingly. Once adjusted for a particular person and for a particular gun, the settings are readily maintained for future use.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2002Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Inventor: Thomas Mostello

Patent number: 6574903Abstract: The present invention addresses an improved method of animating a waterfowl decoy or bird sculpture. An offset support assembly supports wing and paddle appendages that attach to a rotating or oscillating output shaft extending from the body of a waterfowl decoy or bird sculpture. The rotation or oscillation of the offset wing appendages produces a visual quality replicating the flapping of wings. The paddle appendages propel a floating decoy on the surface of the water and impart a side-to-side movement. The invention can be used to impart a more realistic motion and appearance to either floating or pole-mounted decoys, or can be used with decorative sculptures or models.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2001Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Inventor: Walter Solomon

Patent number: 6574904Abstract: A wind activated decoy has a silhouette body with a wing support therethrough. Opposite first and second wings are secured to respective wing spars, with one spar being removably installable through the support. The second wing attaches removably to the first spar after installation through the support. Each wing comprises a thin, rigid sheet with a sinusoidal cross section to catch the wind and cause the panels to rotate. The chords of the two panels have an angular displacement of forty five degrees, to avoid any singularity and provide continuously unequal aerodynamic forces upon the panels to produce continuous rotation in a breeze. The panels are marked differently on opposite surfaces and when rotated, simulate the flashing of a bird's wings when the bird is alighting. A support column extends from the body and is removably installable in a tubular support, allowing the decoy to pivot freely into the wind.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2001Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Inventors: Jeffery J. Patent number: 6574905Abstract: A gaff device used to land sport and commercial fish. The staff portion of the device comprises two separable sections which are releaseably joined by a manual latch device. The sections remain physically connected by a energy dissipating, shock absorbing, extendable/retractable element. A hook element is attached to the distal end of the device. The shock absorbing element dissipates energy from an impaled fish thereby reducing the chance of the hook pulling free and freeing the fish or the device being jerked from the user's hands. As the force generated by the movement of the fish is reduced, the handle section returns to its initial configuration. In addition, when unlatched and extended, the device provides a superior lever for landing a large fish compared with gaffs designed according to prior art. A second, major embodiment describes a gaff with a single staff that retains the shock absorbing capabilities and eliminates the manual releases.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2001Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Inventor: Jason W. Peeples

Patent number: 6574908Abstract: A fishing lure (10) includes a housing (14) in which a pair of fishing hooks (12) are enclosed. One end of each hook is secured to a spring (50) loaded plunger (40) held in a hook retracted position by a trigger (70). The trigger is activated when a fish bites on the lure. When the trigger is activated, the plunger is released and the spring drives it forward. The plunger drives the hook end (18) of the hooks into the sides of the fish's mouth to set the hooks. Because the hooks are rapidly set, the fish has no time to react and spit out the lure. Also, the hooks are driven into the fish's mouth with sufficient force they cannot now be dislodged by movements of the fish.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2001Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Inventor: Walter Sanner

Patent number: 6574943Abstract: Conveyor assembly for packagings, comprising a substantially horizontally conveying conveyor. Situated near the delivery end of the conveyor is a bearing plate, which when the pack moves onto it moves further substantially at the same speed as the conveyor into an accommodation in which the pack has to be placed. When the pack is entirely clear of the conveyor, the bearing plate is moved back so fast that the pack, through its inertia and through its speed of displacement, does not move back and comes to a standstill, so that it is subsequently received in the accommodation.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2001Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Assignee: Blue Print Holding B.V.Inventor: Aaldert Christiaan Van Dam

Patent number: 6574944Abstract: A method and system for ultrasonic sealing of food product packaging is provided. The ultrasonic sealing system preferably includes a food product packaging-positioning system that delivers food product packaging and food product into direct on-item-packaging forming box. The direct on-item-packaging forming box then receives the food product packaging and forms it directly around the supplied food product forming a partially packaged food product. The partially packaged food product is then ultrasonically edge sealed around the food product by an ultrasonic food product packaging fin-sealing unit forming a partially sealed food product packaging. The partially sealed food product packaging then enters a food product packaging end-sealing unit which ultrasonically seals and crimps the ends of the food product packaging resulting in a fully packaged and ultrasonically sealed food product.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2001Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Assignee: Mars IncorporatedInventor: Roberto A. Patent number: 6574945Abstract: A number of spaced apart first and second cavities are continuously formed in first and second thin sheets of material, respectively. Each of the first and second cavities has an edge at an opening thereof. The formed first and second cavities travel in paths that are downwardly inclined from the horizontal and approach each other. A number of first bodies are fed into the first cavities, respectively, where each of the first bodies has a liquid tight interior cavity that contains a volume of a first liquid. This liquid is one that when mixed with a second liquid starts a chemiluminescent reaction. The edge of each of the first cavities is sealed progressively with the respective edge of a second cavity, while injecting the second liquid into one or both of the first and second cavities that are being sealed. This forms a liquid tight second body that contains the first body and a second volume of the second liquid.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2001Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Assignee: Lumitek LLCInventor: Raul Martinez, Jr.

Patent number: 6574947Abstract: The inventive saddle pads are for placement between a saddle and a horse's back, or between a saddle and the rider, for therapeutic and cushioning protection for the horse and for the rider. The saddle pads incorporate a perforated honeycomb cellular structure which contours to the horse's back and/or the saddle to provide uniform load distribution. The honeycomb cells of the pad are aligned perpendicular to the horse's back and flex with movement to reduce shear forces against the horse's skin. The ability of the honeycomb to contour and flex with the movement helps keep the pad securely in place, eliminating rubbing and chafing.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2002Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Inventors: Curtis L.
