Abstract: An image recorder and a method of recording an image on a printing plate are provided. A punch unit for forming punched holes and the like for use in a printing apparatus in the printing plate positions the printing plate by bringing a pair of reference pins into contact with an edge of the printing plate, and punches the printing plate. Next, the printing plate is transferred to a recording drum in the image recorder for image recording. The recording drum is provided with positioning pins mounted upright in substantially the same location as the reference pins of the punch unit. Thus, a portion of the edge of the printing plate which made contact with the reference pins of the punch unit is also brought into contact with the positioning pins of the recording drum. Therefore, the positional relationship between the punches holes for printing and the recorded image is held constant without being affected by an undulation or swell on the edge of the printing plate.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming a high resolution LED array. A plurality of LED chips are provided to form the LED array. Each LED chip has an electrode that is inward biased at each end of the chip by a predetermined amount. The size of each LED chip is removed by reducing, at each end of each chip, an amount of chip material substantially equal to the predetermined amount. The array is formed by placing each chip end to end with a gap between each chip, wherein the gap is suitably large for placement accuracies and a consistent pitch of 21.2 &mgr;m is maintained between each LED on each chip.

Abstract: A nano-imprinting method includes a process of transferring an embossed pattern from a master plate (120) to a surface of a pattern-receiving or donee substrate (130) by applying a pressure to the master plate (120) having an information carrier region (120A) having formed the embossed pattern and the donee substrate (139) from opposite sides of a pair of press surfaces (100) sandwiching them. When the pressure is applied, a buffer layer (110) shaped in accordance with the information carrier region is interposed in a position aligned with a pattern-forming region between the master plate or donee substrate and the press surface.

Abstract: A method of generating a graphic on fabric includes providing a sheet of heat settable adhesive, preferably a clear urethane heat transfer adhesive, having first and second oppositely facing surfaces. The second surface is supported on a sheet of backing material. Ink forming a graphic is applied to the first surface of the adhesive. Unused adhesive, if any, adjacent to the graphic is removed if necessary or desired. The adhesive carrying the graphic is placed into contact with the fabric, and the adhesive carrying the graphic is heated above a setting temperature of the adhesive while in contact with the fabric so as to permanently affix the graphic to the fabric.

Abstract: Barrel assembly (10) includes rifled barrel (11) loaded with several pyrotechnic projectiles (12) for selective firing by an electronically controlled system. Each projectile (12) includes body (14), housing (15) containing pyrotechnic material (16), and trailing collar (17) supported on trailing hub (18) of body (14) for limited axial movement. Collar (17) includes leading wall (20) abutting trailing wall (21) of housing (15) and an internally tapered thickened rear part (24) engaging nose (25) of trailing projectile (12) to wedge into sealing engagement with barrel (11). Hub (18) supports propellant capsule (30) connected by electrical leads (31) to contacts (32) on outer cylindrical wall (33) of housing (12). Complementary contacts (34) are supported in barrel (11). Alignment of contacts (34) with contacts (32) occurs during the loading process. Fuse (35) extends between capsule (30) and primer (36) so that material (16) explodes a set time after firing projectile (12) from barrel (11).

Abstract: A low observable, brass ammunition cartridge casing with an exterior surface having a colored coating which renders the cartridge casing low observable. The colored coating may be deposited onto the exterior surface by various processes, such as electroplating, chemical deposition, and spray painting. The colored coating may be selected from a variety of different colors such as, black, olive green, silver, brown, tan, gray, and white. The colors are typically obtained using conventional pigments and colorants, such as metal oxides. The brass casing exterior surface may be roughened to reduce the gloss or sheen of the casing on the colored coating. The invention includes ammunition cartridges containing a low observable brass casing described above.
