Abstract: The present invention is an object to provide an apparatus or a method making it possible to easily effect connection between additional electrodes, etc. and lead electrodes when performing a processing for achieving a predetermined throat height value or crown processing or the like and making it possible to measure the requisite lapping amount. For achieving the object, a flexible electrode extension sheet is used which consists of a portion for retaining a ceramic bar in which element portions are formed and a portion where there are formed wirings respectively in correspondence with the elements and adapted to be connected to these elements, in which these wirings, which can be easily connected to an external measurement system, are electrically connected to the elements, whereby the lapping amount is easily obtained from the characteristic amount of the elements in the lapping process.

Abstract: A bolt cutting tool comprises a bolt engaging portion and a cutting blade. The bolt engaging portion has at least one bolt-receiving bore, which is adapted for receiving a portion of a bolt to be cut. The cutting blade is rotatably connected to the tool generally adjacent the bolt engaging portion. The cutting blade has a cutting surface with an arcuate peripheral cutting edge. The cutting blade is adapted for rotation relative to the bolt-receiving bore from a pre-cut starting position toward a post-cut finishing position. The blade is adapted to rotate in a manner so that the arcuate peripheral cutting edge of the blade cuts the bolt as the cutting blade is rotated toward the post-cut finishing position. The blade is configured so that an angle of incidence between the cutting surface of the blade and a center axis of the bolt-receiving bore is less than 15 degrees when the blade is in its pre-cut starting position.

  • Publication number: 20030140504
Abstract: A cutting tool and method for applying decorative patterns to floor coverings. The tool comprises a force applying body member having a slide member secure to the bottom of the body member. A knife edge secured by the slide member extends outwardly from the slide member and is used for marking or cutting an underlying floor covering. The slide member has a longitudinal channel adapted to receive the edge of a section of floor covering previously cut in a predetermined pattern and which serves as a template in order to cut the pattern into the underlying floor covering. As downward and forward pressure is applied to the body member, the apparatus is advanced along the edge of the pattern and a cut is made by the tool into the underlying floor covering at a dimension equal to the edge of the pattern. The cut pattern is removed and mated with the floor covering from which the template was cut. Likewise the template may be mated with the section of floor covering from which the pattern was removed.

The tool (10,110,210) comprises a housing having a channel (18) defined by a base wall (13) and substantially parallel first and second sidewalls (15,17) that are substantially perpendicular to the base wall (13). A primary cutting blade (30) extends from the first sidewall (15) at an angle across the channel (18) toward the second sidewall (17). The primary blade (30) is configured to cut through an edge of a panel placed in the channel (18) as the cutting tool (10,110,210) is caused to move along the edge of the panel, thereby creating a chamfered edge on the panel. A second cutting blade (32) also extends from the first sidewall (15) and is positioned adjacent the primary blade (30) to create a perforation in the edge of the panel prior to the panel encountering the primary blade (30).

Abstract: The subject of this patent application, the Sill Saw, is an application-specific handheld circular power saw that affords the replacement of narrow frame windows, usually aluminum frame windows, with windows having thicker (deeper) frames, without the removal of the window casing materials or associated inside window moldings. This handheld power tool is specifically designed for the purpose of sawing window casing boards to a narrower width without removing them from the structure. There is no other method of accomplishing this, short of disassembling the window components, installing the new window, modifying the removed components and reinstalling them. Current, general purpose, handheld power saws cannot cut the window casing boards completely to the corners; that is, to their intersections with one another. This can be accomplished using the subject of this patent application, the Sill Saw.

Abstract: A system for removing from a particle mass a liquid permeating the particle mass includes a vaporizing stage having a space wherein the pressure is less than the pressure of the particle mass. As the particle mass enters the vaporizing stage, the lower pressure causes much of the liquid to vaporize. Once vaporized, the vapor can be removed with a pump. A first stripping stage receives the particle mass from the first stage at a first particle inlet port and discharges the particle mass at a first particle outlet port. A first stripping gas inlet near the first particle outlet port of the first stripping stage injects an inert stripping gas into the particle mass. The inert gas mixes with remaining elements of the liquid and any entrained gas formed by the liquid, and the mixture is discharged at a gas outlet near the first particle outlet port. A second stripping stage having construction and operation different from the first stripping stage may receive the particle mass.

Abstract: This will describe unique foot orthotics that are designed to restore, reduce or eliminate foot, ankle, knee, hip and back pain by restoring your natural gait, balance and posture by supporting and cushioning different arches under the foot. These unique orthotics are made in a way that allows different areas of a unitary part to be custom made at different hardnesses by controlling the thickness and cross-linking of the orthotic in that area. This is very beneficial as some parts of the foot need more solid support and other parts need softer support. The parts are made of a chemical-resistant, water-resistant microcellular closed cell material. Also, the orthotics can be made in a variety of overall average stiffness by varying the amount of foaming agent and/or changing materials. This is required for different sporting activities. These orthotics can also be made very light weight by increasing the amount of foaming.

When stoppage of the operation of the accelerator pedal is detected for a predetermined time period, along with closing a slowdown switch, an idling changeover switch is changed over to its contact a. And the engine rotational speed is gradually slowed down by a command from a slowdown control section. On the other hand, when stoppage of the operation of an operation lever is detected for a predetermined time period, the idling changeover switch is changed over to its contact c. Due to this, the engine rotational speed is instantly controlled to the idling rotational speed.

Abstract: A mapping system is provided comprising a plurality of display panels (8) located at or on a ceiling of a building such as a supermarket. The panels (8) form a network of routes through the supermarket, with each panel illustrating the content of the supermarket aisle (4) adjacent the panel (8). The elevated nature of the panels (8) allows users to identify the content of aisles (4) distant from their current location, and users may thus identify a route leading to the selectred aisle as well as the contents of aisles along which the route passes. A number of alternative embodiments of the invention are described, together with methods of guiding individuals around environments using maps of the invention.

Abstract: A mobile sign is adapted from discarded cotton collection trailers. The cotton collection trailers include a front steering axle and trailing rear axle supporting a horizontal rectangular frame. The rectangular cotton collection cage mounted to the trailer is removed and replaced with an upright vertical rectangular frame which supports sign material. The modifications to unused and discarded cotton collection trailers provides a useful purpose for the trailers and prevents the waste of selling the trailers for scrap. The trailers are easily pulled to desired locations utilizing the existing tow bar and can be secured by deploying outriggers or extendable feet, removing the tires from the trailer, and securing the trailer to a ground anchor. The mobile sign will support numerous types of sign material, including border grommeted canvas and board material.

Abstract: A system for mounting a flexible sheeting material to a substrate is comprised of a number of frame sections including an elongate support member secured to the substrate and an elongate connector member secured to an end portion of the flexible sheeting material, with the support member and the connector member including interlocking anchor elements capable of forming a releasable interconnection therebetweeen. The support member and the connector member each include a tool engaging portion defining oppositely facing bearing surfaces. A tool is provided which includes a first engaging surface positioned in abutment against one of the bearing surfaces, and a second engaging surface positioned in abutment against the opposite bearing surface. Displacement of the engaging surfaces along the bearing surfaces tensions the flexible sheeting material to a taut state, with the interlocking anchor ribs forming a releasable interconnection to maintain the flexible sheeting material in the taut state.
