Abstract: A hand crank for actuating a gear assembly mechanism such as for a lifting jack is described. The hand crank comprises an elongated metal primary handle, a tube bent at very precise angles to define two spaced-apart handle portions, separated from one another in parallel planes, by a central portion. A connector includes a bracket that has a V-shaped slot to secure the hand crank to a gear actuator at two alternate working positions and a storage position. When in the first position, the handles of the hand crank are parallel to a longitudinal axis of the actuator and define a high-speed position. When in the second position, the two handle portions are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the actuator. The handle portions are spaced about 8.5 inches from one another and about the same distance apart to constitute an ergonomic disposition when used at their first position.

Abstract: A 99.99% pure indium feed is charged into crucible 8 and heated to 1250° C. by upper heater 6 in a vacuum atmosphere at 1×10−4 Torr, whereupon indium evaporates, condenses on the inner surfaces of inner tube 3 and drips to be recovered into liquid reservoir 9 in the lower part of tubular member 11 whereas impurity elements having lower vapor pressure than indium stay within crucible 8. The recovered indium mass in liquid reservoir 9 is heated to 1100° C. by lower heater 7 and the resulting vapors of impurity elements having higher vapor pressure than indium pass through diffuser plates 12 in the upper part of tubular member 11 to be discharged from the system whereas the indium vapor recondenses upon contact with diffuser plates 12 and returns to liquid reservoir 9, yielding 99.9999% pure indium while preventing the loss of indium.

Abstract: A molten metal or molten metal alloy is filtered to remove contaminants. Filters may include imaging agents, especially those useful for N-ray radiography, X-ray analysis, and neutron activation. Currently preferred imaging agents include gadolinia and tungsten. Currently preferred refractory materials include yttria, zirconia, tantalum, tungsten and rhenium. A homogeneous distribution of refractory and imaging materials may be accomplished by vacuum impregnation, chemical vapor deposition, physical vapor deposition, chemical vapor infiltration, fusing, cocalcining, alloying, and physical mixing. Filters substantially resistant to chemical and mechanical degradation may be used. For example, filters may be constructed with at least an outer layer of the filter comprising yttria. Filters may define a porosity and mesh size for efficient filtration and to exclude the maximum allowed size of defects for the particular application.

Abstract: The object of this invention is to provide a technique of effectively purging a space almost closed with a master and pellicle film with inert gas in an exposure apparatus which uses ultraviolet rays as exposure light, purges the interior of the apparatus with inert gas, and projects the pattern of a master onto a photosensitive substrate via a projection optical system. To achieve this object, a plurality of vent holes are formed in a structure obtained by surrounding by a surrounding member a gas purge space to be purged with inert gas. A vessel which forms a space around the structure is filled with inert gas to cause inert gas to enter the gas purge space, purging the gas purge space with inert gas.

Abstract: Gas/liquid separating devices include a separator (1) for separating a mixed gas/liquid flow (M). A liquid drain (2) communicates with the separator and defines a liquid storage chamber (30). The liquid drain serves to temporarily store a liquid separated from the mixed flow within the liquid storage chamber, so that a space that is not occupied by the liquid is ensured within the liquid storage chamber. An adjusting mechanism (52, 152) may serve to adjust the pressure within the space of the liquid storage chamber.

The heat packs (18) are formed of ceramic materials, high density liquids, PCM's or the like which are capable of being rapidly heated during the brewing process but then gradually release their heat to the beverage in the urn. Alternatively, the warmer packs (18) are removably mounted within a compartment (68) within the self-heating urn (10) and are heated apart from the brewing process and then inserted into the self-heating urn (10) when it is moved to a serving location.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for regulating a controlled atmosphere for the storage of plant products in at least one storage or transport room. The inventive method comprises the following steps: a) measuring, at at least two different intervals, the concentration of at least one trace gas that is produced by the plant products and whose share in the controlled atmosphere is less than 1%, b) deriving from the sequence of at least two measured values the degree of the change in concentration of the trace gas as a measure for the rate at which the plant product produces said trace gas, c) determining the adjustment values for the composition of the controlled atmosphere depending on the degree of the change in concentration of the trace gas, and d) adjusting the composition of the controlled atmosphere in accordance with the adjustment values.
