Abstract: The invention relates to a vacuum regulator (1) for maintaining a substantially constant vacuum in a vacuum system (2). The vacuum regulator (1) includes a main valve arranged to control a supply of air to the vacuum system (2). The main valve includes a valve seat (3) defining a passage (4) arranged to lead air to the vacuum system (2) and a valve body (5) moveably arranged in a direction between a closed position and a maximally open position in order to regulate the size of a minimum flow area (18) between the valve seat (3) and the valve body (5). A force (19) caused by the vacuum acts on the valve body (5) in a direction towards the closed position. The valve seat (3) and the valve body (5) have such a design, that the value of the force (19), in a continuous way, increases with the degree of opening of the valve body (5).

Abstract: A small-diameter part in the vicinity of a center of a bellows portion in an axial direction has a smaller diameter. A tip end of the small-diameter part contacts at a point A with an outer peripheral face of an interlock pipe. The interlock pipe vibrates with using the point A and points B in both ends as fulcrums. The addition of the point A reduces distance between the fulcrums. In accordance with this reduction, deflection amount of the interlock pipe is reduced and vibration amplitude of the interlock pipe is decreased. Therefore, the interlock pipe does not contact with the bellows portion so that troubles such as noises can be prevented from occurring.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for treating or pre-treating parts, profiles, strips, or wires comprising surfaces of aluminium, or alloys containing aluminium optionally in the presence of surfaces consisting of other metals or alloys with an acidic, aqueous solution containing fluoride and phosphate. Said method is characterised in that the fluoride is present at least partially as a free fluoride in the solution and that in the bath of phosphating solution, the content of free fluoride is maintained within a concentration range of between 5 and 500 mg/l Ffree and that of aluminium is maintained within a concentration range that is less than or equal to 100 mg/l Al ions (including complexed Al). To achieve this, increases in the aluminium content are reduced to contents of less than or equal to 100 mg/l Al ions in the bath, using a precipitation container outside the phosphating bath by circulating the phosphating solution from the phosphating bath to the precipitation container and vice versa.

Abstract: A metallic glass alloy ribbon consists essentially of about 70 to 87 atom percent iron. Up to about 20 atom percent of the iron is replaced by cobalt and up to about 3 atom percent of the iron is replaced by nickel, manganese, vanadium, titanium or molybdenum. About 13-30 atom percent of the element balance comprises a member selected from the group consisting of boron, silicon and carbon. The alloy is heat-treated at a sufficient temperature to achieve stress relief. A magnetic field applied during the heat-treatment causes the magnetization to point away from the ribbon's predetermined easy magnetization direction. The metallic glass exhibits linear DC BH loops with low ac losses. As such they are especially well suited for use in current/voltage transformers.

Abstract: We have discovered that the formation of particulate inclusions at the surface of an aluminum alloy article, which inclusions interfere with a smooth transition from the alloy surface to an overlying aluminum oxide protective film can be controlled by maintaining the content of mobile impurities within a specific range and controlling the particulate size and distribution of the mobile impurities and compounds thereof; by heat-treating the aluminum alloy at a temperature less than about 330° C.; and by creating the aluminum oxide protective film by employing a particular electrolytic process. When these factors are taken into consideration, an improved aluminum oxide protective film is obtained.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided in accordance with embodiments of the present invention for heat-treating electrical contacts. The method and apparatus include plating a core wire with at least one conductive coating to form an electrical contact that experiences internal stresses. The method and apparatus further include induction heating the electrical contact for a predetermined period of time to at least partially relieve the internal stresses. A plurality of electrical contacts may be mounted on a substrate that is held near induction coils to cause heating. The electrical contacts may be formed with spring shaped bodies that are aligned at a desired orientation within magnetic fields created during induction heating. In accordance with at least one embodiment of the present invention, different portions of each electrical contact may be annealed by different desired amounts.

Abstract: When using AA3000 series and AA1000 series aluminum alloys to produce extruded products for heat exchanger applications, by controlling the level of copper and nickel in the alloy to very low levels it is possible to produce excellent corrosion resistance both before and after a brazing cycle. To achieve these results, the copper content should be no more than 0.006% by weight and the nickel no more than 0.005% by weight. A typical alloy of the invention contains about 0.001-0.5% by weight manganese, 0.001-0.7% by weight iron, 0.001-0.02% by weight titanium, 0.001-0.3% by weight silicon, less than 0.006% by weight copper, less than 0.005% by weight nickel and 0.001-0.02% by weight zinc, with the balance consisting of aluminum and incidental impurities. No zinc addition to the alloy is required either by zinc spraying or by alloy addition.
