  • Patent number: 6626247
Abstract: The present invention provides a post driver which includes various post adaptors having different cross-sections. The post adaptors can be attached to, and detached from, a head portion of the post driver. An adaptor is attached to the head portion by retracting a pin in the head portion, sliding the adaptor into slots on the head portion, and releasing the pin such that the pin extends through an aperture of the adaptor. A post having a cross-section comparable to that of the adaptor can then be inserted into the adaptor, allowing the post driver to drive the post into the ground. The adaptor can be removed from the head portion by retracting the pin and sliding the adaptor out of the slots. If another type of post is to be driven into the ground, a corresponding adaptor can be attached to the head portion.

  • Patent number: 6626253
Abstract: An anti-plugging oscillating shear valve system for generating pressure fluctuations in a flowing drilling fluid comprising a stationary stator and an oscillating rotor, both with axial flow passages. The rotor oscillates in close proximity to the stator, at least partially blocking the flow through the stator and generating oscillating pressure pulses. The rotor passes through two zero speed positions during each cycle, facilitating rapid changes in signal phase, frequency, and/or amplitude facilitating enhanced data encoding. The rotor is driven by a electric motor disposed in a lubricant filled housing. In one embodiment, the housing to shaft seal is a flexible bellows. In one embodiment, a torsional spring is attached to the motor and the resulting spring mass system is designed to be near resonance at the desired pulse frequency. • Patent number: 6626258
Abstract: A motor driven or pedal powered snow vehicle designed to emulate the steering and balancing characteristics of motorcycles and bicycles. The snow vehicle includes a frame, a swing arm, a track carriage, an endless loop track, a snow compacting ramp, an elongated steering member and a ski. The swing arm pivots upon the frame and angles downward behind the frame. The track circulates a fixed path around the track carriage. The track carriage extends forward from a pivot connection with the rear of the swing arm, and pivots vertically under the swing arm in scissors-fashion. The snow vehicle is suspended upon the track carriage using a single shock absorber and load-distributing bell crank. A snow compacting ramp attached to the track carriage compresses the snow ahead of the track. The steering member is like the front suspension fork of a motorcycle or bicycle, and is connected to the frame so that it rotates about a steering axis. • Patent number: 6626259
Abstract: When passengers are transported in automotive vehicles, in particular, when automotive vehicles are used in motor sports events, there is an increased risk of injury for the occupants of the vehicle. In particular, if the vehicle is hit from the side, rolls over or catches fire, it is therefore necessary to provide the occupants with optimum protection against the consequences of such an accident. To this end the invention provides a safety seat system comprising a shell element which is secured to a vehicle body and has integrally formed therein a foot area, a seat area and a backrest area, the safety seat being displaceable as a whole relative to the vehicle body upon impacts acting thereon. As a result, the passive safety of an occupant is considerably increased and, in particular, the a consequences of an injury are kept to a minimum or are prevented altogether.

  • Patent number: 6626260
Abstract: A straddle-type vehicle has configurations in which the engine is located more towards the rear of the vehicle and the fuel tank extends generally vertically beneath the steering member. A radiator may also be located at a rear portion of the vehicle, rearwardly of the engine. A front storage compartment s also provided in the front portion of the vehicle. The resulting vehicle has improved access and storage capabilities and also has a lower center of gravity. The engine may be a four stroke engine, which is more environmentally friendly than a two stroke engine. Because of the increased space requirements of a four stroke engine, a secondary portion of the engine is provided forward of the seat to define an uppermost portion that defines a bottom portion of an access area that the user uses to mount and dismount the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6626264
Abstract: The present invention provides a radio frequency (“RF”) shielded and acoustically isolated enclosure that efficiently employs multiple layers of sound insulation and absorbs airborne noise and the noise provided by magnetic resonance imaging (“MRI”) equipment through the supports of such equipment. The RF enclosure uses multiple layers and types of insulating materials positioned to maximize the noise absorption of the RF enclosure. This reduces the cost and space required by the enclosure. In one embodiment the enclosure includes a ceiling, a floor and a plurality of walls. The ceiling and walls include one or more multiple layers of different indulating materials that either abut each other or form air gaps. In one embodiment the floor includes a heavy metal plate on which the MRI equipment sits. The plate elastically couples to a conductive shield. The elastic coupling attenuates certain frequencies above the natural frequency of the metal sheet.

  • Patent number: 6626269
Abstract: A disc brake caliper assembly has a housing with a bore. A piston in the bore is movable between applied, retracted and knock-back positions. The piston is activatable by hydraulic pressure to move from the retracted position to the applied position; and a retracting seal is effective in the absence of the hydraulic pressure to move the piston from the applied position to the retracted position. A linkage adjacent the piston carries a stop; and an actuator is responsive to an end of brake activation signal to cause the linkage to engage the stop with the piston when the piston is retracted from its applied position to its retracted position so as to prevent the piston from moving from the retracted position to the knock-back position. The actuator is preferably a comparatively weak electric motor that stalls as the stop engages the piston; and the stall is sensed to end motor activation. The end of brake activation signal is preferably provided by a brake position or pressure sensor.

  • Patent number: 6626271
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrically operable brake system and a method for its actuation. The brake system and the method are characterized in that the service brake system can be activated by two brake operating devices which are operable by the driver independently of each other. The main advantage which results is that upon failure of a brake operating device which is e.g. configured as a brake pedal module, braking of the vehicle can be achieved by means of the service brake system by way of the second brake operating device. The additional functions intended for the service brake system, such as ABS, TCS, driving dynamics control, brake assist system, etc., may then be implemented, if so desired. The redundant design of the actuation for the service brake permits achieving a high degree of operational safety because full braking functions can be maintained even in case of emergency braking.

Abstract: A transfer line (L) is formed by a first conveyer (C1) and a second conveyer (C2) which are disposed in parallel to each other for transferring a pallet, a first traverser (T1) for transporting the pallet (P) from a terminal end of the first conveyer (C1) to a start end of the second conveyer (C2), and a second traverser (T2) for transporting the pallet (P) from a terminal end of the second conveyer (C2) to a start end of the first conveyer (C1). The first and second conveyers (C1 and C2) are operable to drive main drive rollers (22) provided at start ends of the conveyers by bringing the rollers into abutment against side surfaces of rearmost pallets (P) in the advancing direction, thereby urging and collectively driving a plurality of pallets (P) which are connected together forwardly of the rearmost pallets (P) in a state in contact with the rearmost pallets. This enables the length of the transfer line (L) to be changed as desired without modification of a drive device for the pallet (P).
