Abstract: In an electric vacuum cleaner, in a suction air passage provided between a nozzle unit having a nozzle and an electric blower for producing a suction air flow, a separator for separating dust from the suction air flow is arranged. In the separator, a dust collection chamber for collecting the separated dust is provided. The separator is fitted with an exhaust tube having an outlet, fitted with a filter, formed in the peripheral surface thereof so that the suction air flow is exhausted out of the separator through the exhaust tube to the downstream side of the suction air passage. The separator is fitted with a cleaning member having a brush for cleaning the filter. When the cleaning member is moved with the brush keeping contact with the filter, the dust that has settled on the filter is raked off. The cleaning member is moved through manual operation, with a motor, or by the suction air flow.

  • Patent number: 6625854
Abstract: An acoustic backing element includes a glass fiber epoxy composite planar substrate to the outer major surfaces of which are applied electrically conductive material. The electrically conductive material may be a conductive layer that is etched to expose electrical contact material in the form of conductive traces. Each conductive trace provides electrical connection between a transducer element and electrical control circuitry typically located on an electrical circuit board. The acoustic backing element provides precisely located electrical contacts for connecting the transducer elements to their control circuitry, while simultaneously providing superior acoustic attenuation. In addition, the thermal coefficient of expansion (TCE) of the glass fiber epoxy composite material comprising the planar substrate can be closely matched to the TCE of the electrical contact material.

  • Patent number: 6625856
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of manufacturing an ultrasonic transducer. A plurality of leads end portions are inserted into a plurality of lead holes of an alignment jig. A backing layer is formed by resin molding. After that, the alignment jig is removed from the surface of the backing layer, and the surface of the backing layer is flattened. Since the end portions of the leads are exposed to this flattened surface of the backing layer, discrete electrodes formed on the back surfaces of transducer elements are electrically connected to these lead end portions. The accuracy of lead arrangement is thus improved by the use of the alignment jig. This reduces alignment errors of leads with respect to the discrete electrodes of the transducer elements.

  • Patent number: 6625862
Abstract: A wafer processing apparatus (14) has a wafer processing vessel (16). A wafer is mounted on a susceptor (22) included in the wafer processing apparatus. Process gases are supplied to the wafer through a shower head (74) disposed in an upper region within the processing vessel to carry out a predetermined process for processing the wafer. The surfaces of aluminum members (16, 74) employed in the wafer processing apparatus are subjected to an organic mechanical chemical polishing process, a blasting process and an aluminum oxide film forming process in that order. It is difficult for unnecessary films to adhere to the thus treated surfaces and it is difficult for unnecessary films deposited on the thus treated surfaces to come off the surfaces. Consequently, intervals between cleaning operations can be extended and production of particles can be suppressed.

Abstract: A method of processing the connecting surfaces between a marine engine frame and an associated bearing support, which parts wholly or partially surround a crankshaft is presented. The bearing support is removed to expose the connecting surface of the engine frame facing towards the bearing support. An auxiliary plane is established which is set-up/extended along the centerline of the crankshaft, and a second line at right-angles to the centerline. In situ processing of the connecting surface of the engine frame is effected at an angle which is a function of the position of the auxiliary plane. It is thus possible to process the connecting surface of the engine frame facing towards the bearing support without the necessity of having to remove the engine frame itself, and to carry out the processing of at least this free connecting surface, while the actual bearing support can be processed in the normal manner.

A wire seating blade and a wire cutting blade extend outwardly from the cartridge and are mounted for longitudinal movement relative to the cartridge and to each other. A spring bias detent assembly forces the wire seating and wire cutting blades into contact with each other for longitudinal movement together relative to the cartridge. A compression spring resists longitudinal movement of the wire seating and wire cutting blades in the direction of the base of the cartridge by seating pressure applied to the cartridge. A cam is positioned to release the detent assembly thereby disengaging the wire seating and wire cutting blades from movement together after a predetermined compression of the compression spring. The release of the blades from movement together permitting the compression spring to drive the cutting blade to its cutting position to cut the wire.

Abstract: A method of making a heated injection molding nozzle with an integral tip insert. First, an inner portion, an outer collar portion, and an electrical heating element are made and integrally brazed together in a vacuum furnace using a first nickel alloy brazing material. Then a tip insert is made having a desired configuration and seated in the front end of the inner portion and a second nickel alloy brazing material is applied around it. The second brazing material has a melting temperature which is substantially below that of the first brazing material. The tip insert is then integrally brazed in place by heating them to a temperature above the melting temperature of the second brazing material and below the melting temperature of the first brazing material. Abstract: A multi-layer printed wiring board is manufactured by forming a wiring pattern and a component mounting portion on a first substrate. An insulating spacer, formed with a first opening, is stacked over the first substrate with the first opening in registration with the component mounting portion. A second substrate is stacked over the spacer and the resulting assembly is bonded together. A second opening, continuing to the first opening, is formed in the second substrate, exposing the component mounting portion to the outside. An LSI is mounted on the component mounting portion, the first and second openings are filled with a synthetic resin mass, and then a third substrate is stacked over the second substrate to enclose the openings.

Abstract: A method of determining whether a metal terminal including a conductor clamping section for clamping a wire is satisfactorily connected to the wire. First, a first metal terminal including a first conductor clamping section for clamping a first wire thereto is provided. Next, one of a dimensional variation and a ratio of a dimensional change of the first conductor clamping section in an axial direction of the first metal terminal, which are caused by clamping the first conductor clamping section, is calculated. Compressibility comparison data is prepared by calculating, from a section of the first conductor clamping section after clamping the first conductor clamping section, compressibility of the first wire with respect to the first conductor clamping section based on the one of the dimensional variation and the ratio of the dimensional change.

  • Patent number: 6625885
Abstract: The invention provides a method of forming an electrical contact device and a pre-assembly for producing the electrical contact device. The electrical contact device is formed by providing a conducting frame and an insulating frame which is added to predetermined portions of the conducting frame to form the pre-assembly. A plurality of fine pitch electrical leads are disposed in parallel spaced apart relation and connected to each other by connecting strips. An insulating material is applied to the conducting frame to form the insulating frame. The insulating frame encapsulates portions of the electrical leads which extend from opposite sides of the center of the insulating frame retaining, therefore, the electrical leads in position and electrically isolated from one another. Portions of the conducting frame are then removed from the pre-assembly to obtain the electrical device.
