  • Patent number: 6640379
Abstract: A clip-on wipers are provided that attach to eyeglasses to prevent the buildup of raindrops or snow on the lenses. It attaches via a clip-on clamp thus allowing it to be removed when not needed. A battery pack, envisioned consisting of AAA batteries supplies power to a two-speed motor, via a control switch. The motor then drives a reciprocating mechanical linkage, which moves two small wiper blades across the surface of the lenses. Such action keeps the lenses free from rain and snow buildup when the glasses are worn outdoors in inclement weather.

  • Patent number: 6640398
Abstract: Magnetic clasps for securing the opposed ends of chains and other jewelry. Each clasp includes an arrangement for securing separable bodies by means of magnets that have been poled to present opposed surfaces of opposite magnetic polarities. In a first embodiment, disk-like magnets are received in channels of mating elongated body members of like configuration. End flanges of the elongated body members, in addition to the disk-like magnets, provide axial resistance to separation while the resultant magnetic force prevents separation in the transverse direction. In a second embodiment, disk-like magnets of divided polarities are seated at ends of mating bodies. A pin-and-slot locking mechanism is formed in the two bodies and the magnets are oriented relative thereto so that resultant repulsive magnetic forces force the two magnets into mating alignment when in the longitudinal slot for maximum magnetic holding force.

The fastener is driven through the metal sheet and into the metal substrate during rotation of the fastener thereby inducing friction between the fastener, the sheet and the substrate for locally melting the members to form a flowable material that solidifies for attaching the members, the flowable material and the fastener together.

  • Patent number: 6640416
Abstract: Prewound coils are axially drawn into grooves of stators or rotors of electric machines. This is performed by means of a draw-in star, which can be pushed forward through their bores, behind which cover strips (16), made of insulated material, are pushed into the grooves (12) in front of their opening slits in the course of the draw-in process. To prevent the cover strips (16) from being partially pulled out of the grooves (12) when the draw-in star (28) is pulled back, it is provided that the cover strips (16) are supported against a retrograde movement during a defined first section of the return movement of the draw-in star (28), for example in that the pushers remain in their pushed-forward position during the first phase of the return movement of the draw-in star (28).

  • Patent number: 6640417
Abstract: A method for correctly connecting the wiring for the hall effect sensors and the motor phase terminals of a three-phase brushless DC motor to the corresponding connections on an amplifier, the method using known waveforms that describe the electrical operational characteristics of the motor and amplifier. The method comprising connecting the hall effect sensors in any order, determining two motor phase terminals that correspond to a back-electro-magnetic-force peak in the middle of a waveform for a first hall effect sensor and a third motor phase terminal that does not, determining an amplifier pin that does not carry current during the middle of a wave form for a first hall sensor input on the amplifier. The correct connection is thus determined to be between the third motor phase terminal and the identified amplifier pin. The remaining connections are determined in the same manner by repeating this process, but in relation to the other hall effect sensor waveforms.

  • Patent number: 6640418
Abstract: In processing a head unit in which a head relative height Y is Y′ with a grinding amount &Dgr;GD of &Dgr;GD′, the relationship between distances Bo between a vertex of a curved surface as a front face of a head chip and a head gap before and after grinding the front face of the head chip and a gap depth dimension GD, is predetermined with respect to a head unit in which the head relative height is substantially equal to Y′, through which Bo1 as the value of Bo before grinding corresponding to a target value of the value of Bo after grinding is determined and used as Bo1 of the head unit in which the head relative height Y is Y′. Thus, grinding of the front face of the head chip is conducted after Bo1 corresponding to the target value is determined. Hence, a head unit with the value of Bo after grinding falling within the range of standard values can be manufactured efficiently, and accordingly the yield can be improved.
