Abstract: In a digital audio signal player having a simulated analogue record, a high frequency alternator is provided, which is connected to the microprocessor, and constantly sends out a high-frequency signal; the alternator has an output terminal electrically connected to a diode connected to the microprocessor; a control element is also connected to the diode. Music is played in a normal way when the microprocessor receives high-frequency signal in a non-reduced form. The control element will send an interfering signal to the diode to reduce high frequency signal passing through the diode when touched by hands, thus making the microprocessor receive high frequency signal in reduced form; music is played with speed and direction changing according to the movement of the control element when the microprocessor receives the reduced high frequency signal. Music is played normally as soon as hands are removed from the control element.

Abstract: It is customary to use signals from a motor vehicle central control in order to operate braking equipment for motor vehicles which automatically produces braking forces for states of standstill of a motor vehicle which are capable of holding a motor vehicle at a standstill. The signals which are provided by the central control are used to determine whether or not the motor vehicle is at a standstill. It is consequently also necessary to operate the central control during a state of standstill for the motor vehicle in order to produce the required braking forces. The braking equipment can no longer be operated as desired if the central control fails or malfunctions. These problems are solved by the invention, which provides standstill recognition for motor vehicles which enables braking equipment which automatically produces braking forces during standstill to be automatically controlled.

Abstract: A unique method of estimating real time traffic speeds using data from moving vehicles is described. The system uses low cost GPS receivers connected to wireless modems transmitting information to a central server. These data are then used to create speed forecasts for each roadway segment. Typically, roadway segments are 100-200 meters in length and the forecasts have time resolutions down to one minute for each day of the week, week of the month, and month of the year. An approach similar to finite element modeling (FEM) is used to compute the speed and travel time of any vehicle from any point to any destination using the information in the FEM like model. The speed estimates within each element are continually improved as more data is available in that cell. Standard recursive statistics are used for this purpose.

Abstract: The Doppler bandwidth extracted from the standard deviation of the frequency shift in phase-resolved optical Doppler tomography (ODT) is used to image the velocity component transverse to the probing beam. The effective numerical aperture (NA) of the optical objective determines the slope of the dependence of the standard deviation on velocity. In the case where the angle between the probing beam and flow direction is within ±15 degrees to the perpendicular, the Doppler frequency shift is very sensitive to angle position while the Doppler bandwidth is insensitive to flow direction. Linear dependence of the flow velocity on the Doppler bandwidth allows accurate measurement of flow velocity without precise determination of flow direction. In addition, it also extends the dynamic range of the average frequency shift mapping method used in the phase-resolved ODT.

Abstract: Methods are provided for embedding and/or de-embedding a network having an even number of ports into a device under test (DUT) having an odd number of ports. For example, a four-port network can be embedded/de-embedded into/from a three-port device under test (DUT). This is accomplished by embedding a virtual circulator into the three-port DUT to thereby generate an artificial four-port device. The four-port network is then embedded/de-embedded into/from the artificial four-port device to thereby generate a composite four-port device. The virtual circulator is then de-embedded from the composite four-port device to thereby generate a composite three-port device that is equivalent to the four-port network embedded/de-embedded into/from the three-port DUT.

Abstract: A real time multi-channel digital storage oscilloscope acquires a relatively long data record for each channel in an acquisition memory and processes the data of the relatively long data record to search for predetermined events. Upon detection of such a predetermined event, circuitry generates an event detect signal, and data comprising an acquisition frame surrounding the event is applied to a waveform processing and display system. The relatively long data record can be replayed in order to perform additional searches throughout the data record using different search criteria, thereby permitting multiple waveforms to be displayed simultaneously, each being captured as a result of a different user-defined event. A screen display may be programmed to display a different kind of event such as Runt signal, Overshoot, or Pulsewidth Violation in each waveform, or to display multiple occurrences of the same kind of event such as Runt signal in each waveform.
