  • Patent number: 6643910
Abstract: In molding coils wound around a motor rotor with resin material in a die assembly, the coil ends projecting from either axial end of the motor core are compressed radially inward by small diameter portions formed in the die surface. Because the unnecessary deposition of the resin material over the coil ends is minimized, the material cost can be reduced. Also, the elimination or the reduction of the need to eliminate excess resin material from the coil ends simplifies the production process, and reduces the production cost. Additionally, the reduction in the mass of the resin material over the coil ends, as well as the constraining of the coil wire into a relatively radially inner parts reduces the moment of inertia of the motor rotor, and can thereby improve the performance of the motor.

Abstract: A method for assembling a disk drive using a multifunctional push-pin hole is disclosed. A push-pin of a servo writer is directed through the push-pin hole of the disk drive for executing a servo writing operation. The push-pin is withdrawn from the push-pin hole at the completion of the servo writing operation. A filter is disposed within the push-pin hole so as to be disposed within an interior of the disk drive. This filter may provide one or more of a humidity control/adjustment function and a chemical filtering function (e.g., an integrated chemical filter). Moreover, this filter may work as a sound barrier. That is, this filter may be used to reduce sound intensity outside the disk drive on top of the push-pin hole in relation to those prior art push-pin holes which were sealed by only a piece of tape on an exterior surface of the disk drive.

Abstract: A triple antiparallel (AP) coupled free layer structure is located between first and second pinned layer structures in a dual spin valve sensor. The triple AP coupled free layer structure includes first, second and third antiparallel (AP) coupled ferromagnetic free layers and nonmagnetic first and second antiparallel (AP) coupling layers. The first AP coupling layer is located between and interfaces the first and second AP coupled free layers and the second AP coupling layer is located between and interfaces the second and third AP coupled free layers. Magnetic moments of the first and third AP coupled free layers are parallel with respect to one another and, because of a strong antiparallel coupling, the second AP coupled free layer pins magnetic moments of the first and third AP coupled free layers antiparallel thereto.

Abstract: The system of the present invention provides a pair of assembly modules for assembling electronic components to a series of printed circuit boards or like substrates. The pair of assembly modules are operatively connected in series, and each module includes a pair of assembly stations operating in parallel within the module. Means are provided to bypass the first assembly module and deliver unpopulated substrates to the second module for processing, while simultaneously bypassing the second assembly module with substrates populated by the first assembly module. In the event that one of the assembly stations of either assembly module is inoperative, it may be bypassed and the assembly of its electronic components redistributed to the remaining, operative assembly stations to optimize the productivity of the system.

Abstract: An electronic component comprises a substrate having a surface on which an electrode is formed and an SAW circuit element having a surface on which a circuit is formed. The circuit element is held such that the surface of the circuit element and the surface of the substrate are opposed to each other. A bump electrode joins the circuit on the circuit element and the electrode of the substrate together, and a sealing material joins the circuit element and the substrate together in the periphery of the space between the circuit-forming surface of the circuit element and the substrate. The space between the circuit-forming surface of the circuit element and the substrate is hermetically sealed by the circuit element, the substrate, and the sealing material. Advantageously, a low-temperature soldering material such as solder, or an adhesive, is used as the sealing material.

Abstract: A distributed constant filter capable of being connected to a wiring pattern and the like while simultaneously achieving miniaturization, stable performance and assurance of the reliability and a manufacturing method of the distributed constant filter are provided. In a triplate structure band-pass filter, in place of a high impedance pattern which is, in the prior art, formed on the same face as that of a low impedance pattern in an inner layer, conductor patterns extending in the thickness direction of a stacked substrate are formed. Each of the conductor patterns functions as a via pattern connecting the low impedance pattern in the inner layer and a wiring pattern in the surface layer and also functions as a high impedance line. As long as the filtering characteristic is the same, the line overall length (distance in a plane) of the conductor patterns can be made shorter than the conventional line overall length and the area occupied by the conductor patterns can be reduced.
