Abstract: A ballistic body armor and dehumidification system includes a flexible carrier containing a watertight sealed pouch which itself contains a desiccant and a stack of substantially vertical layers of ballistic material whose performance degrades under certain conditions in the presence of moisture. The watertight sealed pouch is mounted into the carrier so as to cover a portion of a user's body. The desiccant is mounted into the pouch so that either it is, or its effect is, distributed uniformly across the ballistic material to uniformly reduce the humidity level within the pouch.

Abstract: The specification and drawings describe and show one or more embodiments of the present invention in the form of a compression glove for selective application for treatment of hand, wrist, forearm and thumb discomfort. Useful for prevention and relief of injuries caused by repetitive motions while handling implements, it has a flexible waterproof glove body with exposed fingertips. The glove includes a pair or series of layers of hermetically sealed material, that can capture pressurized air, when applied therein. It is formed through the patterned sealing of the layers of the glove together at select locations. This forms inflatable chambers that can selectively apply isolated points of pressure and support to the affected area.

Abstract: A portable waste disposal apparatus includes a stand for receiving a portable bowl and a waste container. The portable bowl includes a receiving port and a disposal port. A disposal port cover permits waste to pass when the cover is in an open position. Waste is prevented from passing through the disposal port when the cover is in a closed position. Actuation of the disposal port cover is independent of pressure within the portable bowl (e.g., due to waste, water, or purging fluid). In various embodiments, the cover slides or pivots between the open and closed positions. A method of disposing of waste includes the step of receiving waste into the portable bowl through the receiving port. The portable bowl is positioned to receive toilet purging fluid through the receiving port when placed within a toilet. Abstract: A fastening elastic cord includes an elastic cord portion, two end hooking elements, and a movable hooking element. Each of the hooking elements has a holding portion having a lateral opening, and a through hole. Two ends of the cord portion are passed through the through holes, and are formed with knots that are bigger than the through holes. The knots are protected with the respective holding portions when the fastening cord is used. The movable hooking element is movably fitted around an intermediate portion of the cord portion so that length of two sections of the cord at two sides of the movable element can be adjusted.

Abstract: A slider is adapted for use with a reclosable fastener for bags containing material. The reclosable fastener includes a first track and a second track. The first track includes a first profile, while the second track includes a second profile. The first and second profiles are releasably engageable to each other. At least one of the first and second profiles has an interior portion. The slider comprises a body that includes a top, a first side, a second side and a separation member on an underside of the top. The separation member is adapted to open and close the fastener and includes a slider finger that extends generally downwardly from the top. The slider finger extends into an interior portion of the first profile so as to assist in removing material trapped in the interior portion of the first profile when closing the reclosable fastener.

Abstract: A clamping hanger for slidably coupling a shower curtain to a hanging rod. The hanger comprises a sliding connector portion adapted for slidable coupling to and along a rod. The sliding connector portion is a loop with a predetermined body width, and a predetermined body length. The body forms a central cylindrical region, having a longitudinal axis, and the rod is operatively disposed in the cylindrical region. A clamping connector portion is unitarily constructed with the sliding connector portion, and adapted for engaging a sheet. The clamping connector has first and second mating portions between which a portion of the sheet is disposed in operation. The clamping connector portion extends radially away, a predetermined distance from the sliding connector portion. The first and second mating portions have a mating face. The mating faces of the mating portions have at least two mating elements having predetermined complementary geometries.

Abstract: A method and plant for producing an air-laid non-woven web of cellulose fibers or of cellulose fibers mixed with synthetic fibers that includes at least one air-laying section for depositing fiber fluff into a layer upon a forming wire, an overlying second wire for transferring the layer of fluff to a third wire having a mesh count small enough for preventing the fibers from penetrating into the wire, and at least one nozzle for directing a water jet towards the fluff on the third wire, thereby hydroentangling the fluff into a coherent web. By the method and plant according to the invention, it is possible to produce hydroentangled fiber webs which are less expensive and have better absorption properties than hitherto known. The webs can be produced with weights between about 20 and 2000 g/m2.

Abstract: An apparatus for fabricating tubular vanes and adhering the vanes to a plurality of associated ladder tapes for use in a blind assembly for an architectural opening is described. The apparatus includes a first section for unrolling resin impregnated fabric tape, folding the tape, and cutting the tape to a predetermined length. In a second section of the apparatus, the cut and folded tape is bonded to together along its longitudinal edges to form a tubular vane. In the third and final section, the completed vane is positioned between the vertical cords of a plurality of associated ladder tapes and the vane is adhesively bonded to a cross rung of each. After the vane has been bonded to the cross rungs, the ladder tapes are advanced and prepared for receipt of the next vane. The resulting subassembly of vanes is used to fabricate blind assemblies through the addition of headrails and bottom rails.
