Patent number: 6655602Abstract: In some hydraulically actuated fuel injectors, a pressure communication passage extends from a pilot valve to the underside of a spool valve to control movement of the same. For the spool valve to move, a substantial amount of fluid flow past the pilot valve is required due to the relatively large amount of fluid that must be displaced by movement of the spool valve member. However, during cold start, when the oil in the pressure communication passage is relatively viscous, it is difficult to move enough fluid past the relatively small flow area through the pilot valve to allow the spool valve to advance to its upper position. Therefore, the fuel injector of the present invention includes a pressure communication passage that is connected to the underside of the spool valve to be separated from the branch that passes through the pilot valve.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2001Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Assignee: Caterpillar IncInventors: Scott F. Shafer, Ye Tian

Patent number: 6655603Abstract: A reverse flow valve member is positioned within an injector body of a fuel injector and is movable between a closed position and an open position. When the reverse flow valve member is in its closed position, an upper portion of a nozzle supply passage is blocked from fluid communication with a lower portion of the nozzle supply passage. A compressed spring biases the reverse flow valve member to its closed position. When the reverse flow valve member is in its open position, the fuel pressurization chamber is fluidly connected to the lower portion of the nozzle supply passage. The present invention limits gas ingestion due to tip leakage, and allows an injector with trapped gas to prime itself.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2002Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Assignee: Caterpillar IncInventors: Michael C. Patent number: 6655643Abstract: An apparatus and method for supporting and protecting flex circuits are provided. A flex circuit cabling wallet has a first cover, a second cover, and a fold line that is coupled to the first and second covers. The first cover includes a latching mechanism. The second cover includes at least one latch tab. The latch tab is configured to create a releasable bond with the latching mechanism. When the releasable bond is engaged, the first cover, fold line area, second cover, and latch tab enclose the base of a flex circuit. In at least one embodiment, a cable fastener is also provided. The cable fastener attaches to the first cover of the flex circuit cabling wallet, thereby segregating the flex circuit from cables.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2001Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Bradley S. Patent number: 6655644Abstract: A bridle ring that reduces potential wire abrasion, minimizes magnetic interference to communication signals, and is easier to install. The shape and flexibility of the improved bridle ring enable it to be opened wider than existing metallic bridle rings, allowing easier insertion of wires. Non-metallic construction minimizes potential wire abrasion and reduces the possibility of magnetic interference with communication signals.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2001Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Assignee: Arlington Industries, Inc.Inventor: Thomas J. Patent number: 6655648Abstract: An air conditioning or heat pump condenser assembly has a base mounted on a molded plastic pad. The pad is mounted on four, auger-type stabilizer rods screwed into the ground. Nuts threaded onto upper ends of the rods in recesses in the top of the pad, fix the pad to the rods. The condenser assembly base is positioned on the pad to cover the nuts on the stabilizer rods to make the nuts inaccessible once the condenser base is in place on the pad. Vibration isolators are disposed between the pad and the base. A portion of the pad, usually centrally located thereon, is provided with extra thickness to receive security screws installed from above through the base of the condenser assembly and into the pad. The security screws are a thread cutting type enabling installation by the installer at a plurality of possible locations above the security area, some or all of which may be obscured enough by equipment on the condenser base to obscure and delay or prevent removal thereof by a thief.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2000Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Inventor: Stuart W. Patent number: 6655649Abstract: Isoelectric focusing gels are cast in a rod-shaped casting mold split longitudinally into two halves, each half having a half-circle profile so that the combined halves form a completed mold that is tubular in shape with a circular cross section. Flat grooves are cut into the flat contacting surfaces of each of the mold halves, the grooves in direct opposition to one another to form a chamber of rectangular cross section extending the full length of the mold and open at both ends. One groove receives a flexible backing strip for the gel and the other serves as the casting chamber for the gel. Once the gel is cast in this mold, isoelectric focusing can be performed as if the gel were a tube gel, and the two mold halves are then readily separated to permit removal of the gel and its transfer if desired to a second dimension separation.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2002Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Assignee: Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc.Inventor: Cory M.
