Publication number: 20040006806Abstract: Bodily-injury protective garments with enclosures have been described, particularly for children and the vulnerable elderly. Children have been portrayed wearing injury protective goggles, and inflatable garments for the neck, breast, hips, knees and wrists. To reduce the bulkiness of some of the larger garments, such as the one around one's hips, an inner tube with high pressure fluid is introduced. This inner tube is susceptible to breakage and its high pressure fluid discharged when intense pressure or bending is exerted upon it, such as would occur when one falls upon the garment. An alternate technique of its fracturing and discharging fluid, is to provide a check valve at the tube's outlet neck, so when high pressure is exerted upon the check valve's exterior, its high pressure fluid would be discharged into the garment's enclosure, inflating it further, for further bodily protection from injury.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2002Publication date: January 15, 2004Inventor: Edwin Zenith Gabriel

The hinge arm (4) has a region that is C-shaped in cross-section. Inwardly directed projections (7) of this region reach behind the marginal projections (15′) of the bracket (15), as a result of which the hinge arm (4) is anchored to the bracket (15).Type: ApplicationFiled: May 29, 2003Publication date: January 15, 2004Inventor: Helmut Rupprechter

Publication number: 20040006847Abstract: A face frame snap-on hinge for adjustably supporting a door on an associated frame utilizes a hinge cup inserted within a bore provided in the interior side of the door. A hinge pin is mounted inside the hinge cup and pivotally connects with one end of a hinge arm. The other end of the hinge arm forms a connecting and release mechanism for the door. A base plate is adjustably connected to preferably the frame and an adjusting member is fastened to the base plate. A cam screw is associated with the adjusting member and the base plate to permit the adjustment of the door with the frame while the hinge arm and base plate remain connected. The door and frame can be adjusted by two independent procedures, both of which permit adjustment to be made without separating the door from the frame.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2003Publication date: January 15, 2004Inventors: Joseph B. Publication number: 20040006850Abstract: A system of securing a pen to one's person so as to prevent accidental loss or theft. The system tethers a pen to an individual's clothing or clothing-accessory by a retractile cord while still allowing both normal use of the secured pen as well as convenient storage of the pen when not in use. The retaining system provides for securing a wide variety of pens or other similarly-shaped/sized implements to which a person may wish to apply it. The system is compact, lightweight, and without excessive tension so as not to hinder the normal use of the implement or appear unsightly when worn with a variety of clothing.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 5, 2003Publication date: January 15, 2004Inventor: David B. Publication number: 20040006851Abstract: A lightweight plastic bolt-like fastener which is used in pairs having a dual ratcheting function. The fastener includes a bolt having a stem which is semi-cylindrical in cross-section, with a head connected to one end of the stem and a semi-circular aperture in the head positioned coaxially aligned with the stem for receipt of a stem from a second bolt directed in opposite orientation. Positioned longitudinally along the flat side of the stem is a rack of serrated teeth which when the stem is inserted within the semi-circular aperture, a deflectable locking tab attached to the head end of the stem engages the rack of serrated teeth as a ratchet, and since the two fasteners each have stems sliding within the semi-circular aperture of the opposing stem, there is a double ratcheting action between both fasteners.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2002Publication date: January 15, 2004Inventor: Kevin J. Publication number: 20040006852Abstract: A one-piece pull-tight or strap-type security seal adapted for closing bags or the like that is designed to be easily applied in comparison with existing ones. One seal of this type has a lever operation in which a closure strap (4) is integral with a central or operating portion (2) that is, its turn, integral with a lever member (6) to which the strap may be fixed during application around the neck of a bag to be closed. The lever member is then pivoted outwardly and backwardly over the operating portion, tightening the loop so formed by means of a lever action, and then locked by security locking formations (16, 19) to effect sealing. According to the invention, the closure strap is for all effects flat, its formations for fixing it to the lever member (6) comprising a series of orifices (7) distributed along its length, whereas the immobilising formation for the closure strap comprises a first protuberance (15) adapted, on formation of the loop (25), to be received in one of the said orifices (7).Type: ApplicationFiled: June 16, 2003Publication date: January 15, 2004Inventor: Andrea De Lima Castro
