  • Patent number: RE38390
Abstract: A retract mechanism for a magnet head which can read from and/or write to a disk, the mechanism includes a spring arm which supports the head and urges the head toward the disk. The spring arm includes a cam follower which rides along the surface of the cam, which has two parallel horizontal surfaces and two incline surfaces. The spring arm is moved by an actuator in a radial direction along the disk. When the spring arm is moved radially away from the center of the disk, the cam urges the spring arm upwardly, thereby lifting the head up and away from the disk. As the spring arm continues to move radially away from the center of the disk, the cam guides the spring arm such that the head rests safely on a landing platform.

  • Patent number: RE38392
Abstract: The invention relates to methods for the identification of metastatic sequences. Cells from a cell line or an animal tissue are treated to form a cell line predisposed to metastasis. Treated cells are implanted in an animal of at a primary site and incubated for a period of time sufficient for the cells to proliferate and develop metastases at secondary sites. Expressed sequences from cells at the primary and secondary sites are amplified by differential display polymerase chain reaction and compared. Differentially expressed sequences are identical identified and can be cloned and sequenced. These sequences can be used as probes in the diagnosis of metastatic disorders, as probes to isolate metastatic sequences and as a therapeutic agent.

  • Patent number: 6678919
Abstract: A hinge assembly for a gaming machine including a hinge pin fixed to a door of the gaming machine and a outer sleeve fixed to a belly door frame. The outer sleeve includes first and second arms and is partially annular in cross-section defining a first gap between opposing ends of the arms. A pin element is fixed to a light chamber located behind the belly door frame and rotatably mounted inside the outer sleeve. A second gap is defined between free ends of the pin element. When the pin element is rotated to a particular orientation with respect to the outer sleeve, the first and second gaps align to allow the pin element and outer sleeve element to be simultaneously mounted around the hinge pin. Relative rotation of the pin element and outer sleeve misaligns the gaps thereby inhibiting the pin element and outer sleeve from becoming disengaged.

Abstract: Bag closure 100, formed from a single length of pliable, resilient substantially-tubular hose comprises a first “base” section 10 of unmodified hose, a second narrowed “neck” section 20, and a third “clamp” section 30. Clamp section 30 is a trimmed section of hose having a substantially C-shaped cross section, formed by removing a narrow strip of hose material parallel to the hose axis. Hinge 20 is a trimmed section of hose having a substantially parenthesis-shaped cross section, formed by removing a wider strip of hose material parallel to the hose axis. A bag neck may be sealed by laying the flattened bag neck across substantially-cylindrical base 10, folding the closure at its narrowed neck or hinge 20 and forcing clamp section 30 over base 10, trapping the bag neck between base 10 and clamp 30 and forming a tight seal.

For example, capacitors of 0402 size and smaller may be produced having lower height than has been achieved in the prior art. The components have L-shaped terminations on respective ends thereof, providing bottom lands for mounting to a circuit board. At most, the component will have top lands of negligible size to provide a large gap width between the terminations across the top surface of the component. In some embodiments, the top surface may also include orientation indicia located thereon. The invention also provides improved methodology for terminating a capacitor or other surface mount component.
