Abstract: The invention is a convective airflow dryer system for granular, crushed, and sliced fruit and other crops and materials of greater than one quarter inch in average diameter that includes a distributed airflow container. The container may be removable and stackable and has multiple interior airflow plates extending from one surface of said container to an opposing surface, connecting an inlet plenum to an outlet plenum. The airflow plates are parallel and uniformly spaced so as to form material holding bays and are configured to freely admit, and transfer air through the bays and out of the container. The dryer system and the containers are configured for directing the full airflow of the dryer system through the container or set of interconnected containers.

Abstract: Object for the invention is a method for treatment and drying of wood, in which at the first phase wood is warmed up over to the temperature close of the boiling point of water, and wood is compressed with a variable pressure between moisture permeable pressing elements, the temperature of the wood is increased so quickly, that the moisture existing in the wood does not have time to evaporate essentially before the temperature of the wood has increased around the boiling point of water. According to the invention when the surface layers of the timber have reached the temperature close the boiling point of the water the pressure is increased, and at the pressing phase the temperature of wood is kept at the temperature range close the boiling point of the water under that higher pressure.

  • Publication number: 20040025369
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for drying a fibre-based pulp web (2), and to a drying box (1) used in the method. According to the invention, the drying box (1) contains drying zones (9a-9e), to each one of which hot drying air can be blown independently so that the web can be dried in the various zones at different temperatures. The temperature of the first zone (9a) can thus be lower than that of one or more subsequent zones (9b-9e) to prevent the water in the incoming wet web from boiling. The last zone in the drying box (1) can be a separate cooling zone (11), wherein the web is cooled by indoor air from outside the box. The temperatures can be adjusted by adjusting, with the aid of valves (8), the pressure of the steam, which heats the drying air that is fed into the various zones (9a-9e), on the basis of the temperatures measured by the sensors (23) for the various zones and of the basis weight and moisture measurements carried out on the web (2) that goes into the box (1) and comes out of the box.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a convertible fishing reel which has a unique design to allow for a more efficient line casting and line retrieval. To accomplish this, a preferred embodiment of the invention comprises two separate components, a main-body chassis and a spool chassis. The spool chassis is connected to at least one support arm of the main-body chassis. The connection is such that the spool chassis can be rotated 90 degrees within the spool chassis, to be perpendicular to the main-body chassis in a line casting position and parallel to the main-body chassis in a line retrieval position.

Abstract: A de-hooking device for releasing fish from a fish hook at the end of a fishing line, without necessitating touching of the fish by the user. A handle structure is provided with a pivot to support a de-hooking element for pivotal movement to an open position essentially aligned with the handle and a closed position where the de-hooking element is located within a storage slot defined by the handle. The de-hooking element has an elongated substantially straight shank section having a tightly bent loop at the end opposite its pivot and a substantially straight terminal section of substantial length extending from the loop and lying in spaced relation with and extending a substantial distance along the elongated substantially straight shank section and defining an elongate narrow gap therewith. The terminal section has a flared terminal end oriented in angular relation with straight terminal section and defining a guide for guiding fishing line or the shank of a fish hook into the narrow gap.

Abstract: An improved spring-activated mole trap that includes various safety features that make the mole trap safe to use by non-professionals. The mole trap includes a foot bar that enables the individual to activate the trap using his or her foot, a limiting unshaped member that prevents the trigger arm from snapping rearward and injuring the trapper's fingers if the trap is accidentally activated while being set. The improved trap also includes a pair of handles that extend upward from the tunnel when the trap is vertically aligned in the tunnel. Using the handles, the user is able to more easily position the trap inside the tunnel. The trap further includes a wider, re-aligned trigger located closer to the soil to prevent a mole from burrowing under the trigger plate and thereby avoid activating the trap.

Abstract: A slug barrier employs a salt or another material that is an irritant to gastropods. An elongated flexible metal or plastic edge barrier is adapted to extend along a margin of the garden, and has a lower edge that is protrudes a few inches into the soil and an upper edge that extends above the soil. A channel member is formed at the upper edge and holds a length of the wicking material. A paste of salt and other possible minor constituents is charged into the wicking material. The salt is an irritant to garden slugs and snails. Cayenne pepper and garlic juice can be added which are know to be deterrents to a number of insects and animals such as rabbits. A liquid organic detergent in the paste prevents animals such as deer from coming to the salt and licking or biting the sponge. The detergent also deters other animals from crossing the barrier. The wicking material can be a compressed flat synthetic sponge.
